Chapter 2542: Rustling Down (Part 37)
Shiler's thoughts were like lightning, and two facts flashed through his mind.
First, with such a big formation, Gordon must have arrived.
Second, Raven was still in the house, and he couldn't possibly hide it from this old detective.
But he still didn't step on the brake, letting the car drive toward the cordon at a very steady speed until the police officer standing in front of the cordon waved at him, signaling him to stop, only then did Shiler slowly step on the brake.
He got out of the car and found that the police officers who stopped him were two young guys, obviously new police officers who had just arrived recently, so he stretched out his hands to show he was harmless and said, "I am a resident here. I just came back from the post office. May I ask what happened here?"
Seeing Shiler in a suit and leather shoes, holding nothing in his hands, driving a famous brand car, and the car was well-maintained, the two police officers breathed a sigh of relief.
"Sir, a murder case occurred in your community. Someone was dismembered in a gentleman's house. We have now blocked the street and are investigating."
"Then can I go back to my house?"
"Not for the time being. Please wait in the car for a while. We need to report the movement of personnel to our superiors before we can open the cordon for you." One of the police officers said routinely.
Shiler returned to the car but beckoned the two police officers over and handed one of them a roll of tips. The police officer said knowingly, "Sorry, sir, but I have to say this. I'm afraid a terrible serial killer is wandering around your community. If you are not in a particular hurry to go home, I suggest you stay in a hotel for the night."
"Of course, I don't dare to go back, but I still have my underage niece at home. I have to take her to meet her teacher at the new school tomorrow. Otherwise, can you ask your superior if they can send her out?"
Shiler handed over another roll of tips. The two police officers held the money, their faces showing hesitation. Logically speaking, the cordon is wide in and strict out, so that they can ensure that no suspect is missed.
But now everyone's life is not easy, and they really need this tip. Taking people's money to eliminate disasters for others, it's not good to do nothing.
"I'll ask Officer Clay for you." The police officer put his hand on the car window frame and nodded at Shiler. Just as he was about to leave, Shiler called him and said, "But I heard that major cases are handled by Commissioner Gordon himself. Didn't he come?"
Shiler showed factual worry because he knew that the eyes of the masses were sharp. After so many years of diligent work, Gordon had high prestige among the people of Cat Getan, not only gaining the trust of the upper class but also having a good reputation among ordinary people. Everyone counted on him, feeling that he was the only police officer who could uphold justice.
Shiler frowned and showed dissatisfaction, as if he were saying that such a big thing happened, and Gordon actually didn't come, but he was actually hoping that Gordon didn't come.
"Don't you know? Officer Gordon was transferred to the Metropolitan Police Training Academy for a two-week experience sharing and teaching."
"Police Training Academy? Isn't the only police training academy on the East Coast in Chicago?" Shiler asked with some confusion.
"That one is newly opened." One of the police officers answered vaguely, saying, "The good police chiefs on the East Coast have all been called over for training. It is estimated that they won't be able to come back within a month."
"Then this Officer Clay..."
"Was transferred to Cat Getan about a year ago." The young police officer answered, "He is a professional, graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a major in criminal investigation. He was the head of the behavior technology department of the Cat Getan Major Case Unit before and was highly trusted by Commissioner Gordon, so he handed over all his work to him before he left."
Shiler nodded. He knew that after initially making up for the lack of firepower, the Cat Getan Police Department no longer spent a lot of funds on hardware, but instead started from software, spending high salaries to hire many technical talents.
Now the Cat Getan Police Department can be called the most comprehensive configuration, the strongest technical ability, and the most experienced police station in handling various accidents on the East Coast, and all this is due to Commissioner Gordon who has been insisting, so it is not surprising to be called to do training.
But that police academy located in the metropolis caught Shiler's attention. The truly formal and largest police academy on the East Coast is in Chicago, and Gordon came from there. The others are just some police training schools.
Judging from the current situation, the police talents produced by this police academy plus many police schools are completely enough, and the metropolis has never lacked police. Why set up a separate police academy and make such a big formation?
Shiler kept the doubt in his heart, ready to go and say hello to this Officer Clay. After the two young police officers reported Shiler's situation, Shiler received an invitation almost immediately.
After he walked over, he saw a tall white male, between 35 and 40 years old, wearing a uniform slightly different from other ordinary police officers, with a square face, broad forehead, and deep eyes, which is the image of a police chief often appearing in movies and TV shows.
Next to him was another tall and thin bald man. As soon as he turned his head, Shiler recognized him. That was Principal Sivana.
Shiler walked over, Sivana immediately greeted him. He first shook hands with Shiler and patted Shiler on the shoulder, saying, "It's good that you're okay, Professor. I was so worried."
"What on earth is going on?" Shiler looked very confused.
He stepped forward and shook hands with Officer Clay. This police officer looked at Shiler up and down with his eagle-like eyes. That gaze, which seemed to be observing a suspect, made Shiler frown.
Sivana immediately turned sideways and blocked between the two, and introduced to Clay, "This is Shiler Rodriguez, a psychology professor at Cat Getan University, and also a world-renowned psychologist. He also has achievements in criminal investigation science and behavioral science. Perhaps you have heard of his name."
This tall white police officer called Clay nodded seriously and said, "Yes, I have seen this name in textbooks, but due to my duties, I still need to ask you a few questions. I hope you don't mind."
"Don't be like this, Officer. Professor Shiler cannot be a suspect. Didn't I tell you? I saw the back of that serial killer, and the difference in build from Professor Shiler is very large. Anyone can see at a glance that he has no suspicion."
"It doesn't matter, Officer. I also want to know what's going on." Shiler's gaze looked at Sivana and said, "But before that, I have to go back to the house to confirm that my niece is okay."
Sivana suddenly realized and said anxiously, "My god, I almost forgot about this! Professor Shiler has an underage niece who might be alone in the house now. We must hurry to find her. We can't let an underage person..."
Just as he said this, a loud bang came from behind. Shiler turned his head sharply and saw the wall of his house's backyard collapsed. The moment his spiritual vision opened, he could see a force erupting from the backyard, but it disappeared without a trace in an instant.
His peripheral vision glanced at Sivana and found that a light flashed in Sivana's right eye. Obviously, he also saw that force.
Several people immediately ran toward Shiler's house. Pushing open the main door, Shiler didn't see Raven's figure and knew that Raven must have had an accident.
He opened the front door. As soon as he pushed the door, he found the pile of sculptures lying on the ground, the bat doll lying in the center of the floor with a cut on its back, and messy traces of fighting everywhere.
Walking further in, the dining table was overturned, the vase was broken all over the floor, the kitchen counter and stove had no major problems, but the refrigerator was overturned, facing down, and the power cord was torn off.
Continuing forward, the backyard was the one that suffered the most. There was a big pit in the center of the backyard, and the remains of the unfinished barbecue grill and table football were still smoking.
"God..." Sivana sighed.
"Rachel! Rachel!!" Shiler rushed to the second floor and didn't see Raven's figure. He knew that Raven was no longer in this house, but he still showed an anxious posture.
The police officers soon rushed in and started searching the house. After Shiler walked down, he stared at Officer Clay for a while and said with a very serious face, "Someone kidnapped my niece. I must know what is going on."
Clay made a gesture, letting all the police officers chase out along the direction of the collapsed wall. The police poured out, and the three left Shiler's house and returned to the street again.
"I was woken up tonight." Sivana said, "I heard movement in the backyard, so I wanted to go over and take a look. As soon as I went out, I saw a black shadow climbing over the wall of my backyard."
"He left several black plastic bags in my backyard, the kind commonly used in outdoor trash cans. I walked over and took a look, and inside were human limbs."
"I was scared to death and hurriedly called the police. Officer Clay arrived quickly. I think such a short time is not enough for this terrible murderer to leave our community, so I suggested blocking the community."
After finishing, he showed a self-blaming expression and said, "We should have strengthened the defense of every house, so your niece wouldn't have... But I still haven't figured out what that explosion was about."
"I was assembling a barbecue grill before." Shiler said, "If they had a fight, it's very likely that it was a gas explosion."
Sivana also seemed to want to find an excuse for this anomaly, so he nodded immediately and said, "This is also possible. Then this murderer and your niece might both be injured. He can't run far. I suggest we continue to search."
"This is of course." Clay said, "The disappearance of an underage person is not a small matter. Even if we didn't see her being kidnapped, we can make this inference. I will immediately send someone to check."
Just then, a female police officer squeezed through the crowd and walked to Clay's ear, whispering a few words. Clay looked a bit dissatisfied and said, "Why didn't you report it earlier?"
"Disappearance cases usually require a 10-24 hour reporting time." The female police officer said with some difficulty, "Especially adult disappearance cases. If they hadn't repeatedly requested it, we would have waited until the evening."
"What's wrong?" Shiler, although he already had a count in his heart, still asked deliberately.
"A model employee at the post office is missing." Clay frowned and said with a serious face, "The post office is already short of people, and now no one is doing the work of that employee. They hope we can find him quickly."
"Corpse in a bag!" Sivana exclaimed immediately.
The three came to Sivana's backyard together again. No one had touched the crime scene. At this time, several police officers from the evidence section were checking the clues outside the bag.
Clay waved his hand, and someone immediately opened the bag carefully. An older police officer next to him glanced at Shiler, and Shiler also looked at him. This police officer was the only familiar face among all the police officers, who had always followed Gordon before.
"No head." The older police officer put his hands on his hips and shook his head, saying, "We haven't opened the bag yet, but we can judge from the external outline that the head of the corpse is missing."
Clay could obviously judge it too, but he still had to take out the limbs in the bag. Just as the bag was turned over and emitted a rich bloody smell, Shiler turned his head and coughed twice, and Sivana also took two steps back.
Clay's eyes swept over the two. Shiler frowned with a look of disgust, and Sivana looked a bit pale.
"You don't seem to be very afraid, Professor." Clay stared at Shiler and said. ===== CHAPTER 2543 =====
