Chapter 2550
Aisha broke free from the three brothers' restraint and ran toward the refrigerator, which was still tilted even after being propped up.
The refrigerator had completely stopped working. Besides the power cord being broken, the door to the freezer compartment had also fallen off. However, all the power from the moose meat that had been exposed earlier had been absorbed by Schiller's umbrella along with the Seven Deadly Sins, so there was no special power in the room now.
But when Dick helped Aisha open the refrigerated compartment she had been pointing at, everyone discovered that some of the beef and lamb stored inside seemed to have spoiled.
Schiller walked over and took a look, discovering that it was the select beef and lamb meat that Clark had sent over earlier, which was also the main ingredient for tonight's banquet. At this moment, it was emitting a strange odor.
Although the weather wasn't very cold now, it wasn't hot either. The refrigerator had only been out of commission for about a day, so it shouldn't have caused the meat to spoil this quickly.
Schiller observed carefully and found that the color of the beef and lamb had darkened, and the smell it emitted wasn't the putrid scent of spoilage, but another smell he was somewhat familiar with.
"It looks a bit like moose meat," Jason said.
Schiller then remembered that the refrigerator drawer had been opened twice before, and the demon's power had erupted twice as well. Since this meat was so close to the source of the demonic power's eruption, it was likely contaminated.
Without the main course, even if they could tidy up the house, the banquet couldn't be held today.
The Robins immediately felt a bit disappointed, but Dick soon suggested, "The food is already packed, we can't just not eat it. Since everyone didn't eat much at the time anyway, why don't we have another dinner?"
The dining area hadn't been affected much. They immediately brought the packed food over from outside the door, unpacking and plating it while shouting and expressing their opinions on every dish.
"Professor, have you had dinner?" Raven asked.
Schiller shook his head. Raven immediately got him a plate and said, "Then let's eat something together. This restaurant's food is indeed quite good. Since we didn't know if you ate spicy food, we ordered everything non-spicy."
Schiller looked at Raven, then at the few Robins who were already preparing to use their forks, sighing that daughters were indeed better.
Of course, that depends on the person; Aisha had already stuffed her plate into her mouth.
Schiller sat down and adjusted the plate in front of him. The Robins enthusiastically introduced the food to him, one moment talking about their favorite dish, the next about the dish the waiter had recommended most.
Schiller's head was buzzing from their noise. Alfred's level of greatness rose another notch in his heart; ever since the Robins had grown into half-grown children, it was as if they carried giant loudspeakers wherever they went, playing noise 24 hours a day without interruption.
Now Schiller could understand why Bruce would leave Gotham to fend for itself at such a critical juncture and stay in Washington for half a month.
Thinking of this, Schiller asked, "What about Selina? What has she been doing lately?"
"She's hiding from Pamela," Dick said, his cheeks stuffed full, chewing as he spoke. "Pamela hasn't given up on pursuing any beautiful woman. She's chasing Talia on one hand and Selina on the other; it seems she even wants to go after Diana."
"But it's been better lately." Tim's eating habits were relatively refined; he used his fork to cut the things on his plate into very small pieces, then said, "Pamela and Selina have both been worrying about money recently. Pamela has been busy taking care of plants, and Selina has taken on many advertisements. The two of them haven't met lately."
"Do you think Pamela will turn over a new leaf?" Clearly, Jason didn't believe it at all. He said, "It won't be long before she's back in the game. I think Rachel also..."
Dick immediately widened his eyes, but Raven was somewhat confused. She said, "Who is Pamela?"
"She's that girl you saw the other day who can control plants," Schiller said.
"Oh." Raven nodded, clearly not having realized what was going on. Dick, however, almost choked himself. Tim helped him catch his breath while his gaze darted back and forth between him and Raven.
Tim and Jason exchanged a look. Jason cleared his throat and said, "Although Pamela says she likes pretty girls, I think her mental state isn't very normal either. Who knows if she'll have a breakdown one day..."
Dick coughed even more violently.
Schiller also scanned Dick and Raven. It was obvious now that Dick had caught on, while Raven was still completely oblivious.
Schiller sighed in his heart and said, "After dinner, there are two things to do: clean the house and deliver the invitations."
"Although your telekinesis is very useful for cleaning the house, I think it would be better if you used teleportation and invisibility to deliver the invitations."
"We can help you clean!" Jason immediately volunteered, saying, "Alfred even praised me for being good at tidying things up."
"No, you guys are too noisy," Schiller said. "And Alfred won't allow you to stay out too late. Go home after you finish eating."
Jason and the others let out a wail.
"However, I need someone to go with Raven to help me explain to the neighbors what happened today, why the party was postponed, and apologize to them on my behalf."
"I'll go!" Tim volunteered again, saying, "I'm great at telling stories; I guarantee they won't have any complaints!"
At this moment, Jason nudged Tim hard with his elbow and glanced at Dick and Raven with his eyes.
Tim's words, which hadn't yet finished, immediately took a 180-degree turn, and he said, "... but if it comes to apologizing, I'm not very good at it. My parents never let me apologize to others; it's only others who apologize to me. My aunt says the same thing."
Jason also cleared his throat and said, "My temper isn't very good. I'm afraid I'll get into a fight with them. Why don't you stay, Dick?"
Dick gave them both a grateful look, thinking Schiller hadn't seen it. He said solemnly, "Then I'll go. Everyone might have already prepared food and gifts, and they'll definitely be disappointed to learn the time has been postponed. It needs to be explained properly."
They finished their meal quickly. Dick changed from his usual gentle and steady demeanor; it was as if he had needles in his pants, and he was faster than anyone at cleaning up the plates.
He dumped all the plates into the sink in one go and was about to run out, pulling Raven with him. Jason grabbed him and said, "We were the ones who washed the dishes yesterday; today it's your turn. Wash them before you go."
"There's no time," Dick said. "It's about to get dark, and many guests who live far away might have already set off. We have to hurry."
"I've already sent text messages," Schiller said. "I told them the time was postponed; I just need someone to go and explain..."
"Then... alright."
Schiller took Raven to the backyard to look at the large pit, studying how to fill this place within a few days, while the three Robins huddled sneakily in front of a sink to wash dishes.
"You like Rachel?"
"Keep your voice down!"
"No way, how long have you even known her?"
"But she really is quite pretty."
"Tsk tsk, lust at first sight."
Dick glared at Jason, who had said this. Tim acted as if he were gossiping and said, "You don't really not know how many girls in school like you, do you? I don't get it either; you're actually more popular than the football team captain. It's simply absurd!"
"What's the big deal? What school doesn't have a football team captain? But only our school has a ballet prince..."
The two of them laughed together. Dick glared at them irritably and said, "Can you two stop talking for a second? It's bad enough you aren't helping with ideas..."
"Are you really planning to pursue her?" Jason looked at Dick with some surprise and said, "She's definitely big trouble. She can even blow up Professor Schiller's house. The last one to do that was Superman..."
"But I think her personality is quite good too," Dick said. "Although she seems a bit dazed, she's quite gentle, and I get along with her quite well."
"What do you get along with her on?" Tim ruthlessly exposed him. "She doesn't know anything about school life, and you aren't interested in that Azeroth farming stuff. Admit it, you're just lusting after her."
"You're about to start college, and you still have time to chase girls?" Jason said. "How come those elite courses Thomas arranged for you didn't work you to death?"
"You two are just jealous," Dick bared his teeth and said, "I think Rachel's impression of me is pretty good too..."
"She doesn't understand anything," Tim said, gripping the plate in his hand. "She didn't live in the ordinary human society before. When Aisha mentioned the clothes on the floor earlier, she didn't understand. I think it's going to be difficult."
"Come on, I don't just want to sleep with her!"
"If you only wanted to sleep with her, then you'd better hurry. Once you pass your coming-of-age ceremony, you'll be breaking the law."
Dick couldn't help but push Jason, and Jason and Tim burst into wild laughter again.
"Alright, I'm being serious. I don't get this feeling from any of the girls at school. I just think she's pretty and gentle, and she learns everything very quickly."
Seeing Dick's tone become more serious, Jason thought carefully and said, "Then you first have to get the Professor's permission. However, since the Professor can arrange for you two to deliver letters, he probably doesn't intend to break you two up. But is Rachel really Schiller's distant niece? The two of them look nothing alike."
"I guess not," Tim said, hitting the nail on the head. "This girl's background definitely isn't that simple; she's absolutely big trouble."
"But if you want to pursue her, I do have a way," Tim said with a grin. "If you wash dishes for me for a week, I'll tell you."
"A week is too long, but I can trade you three days of snack selection rights plus two days of dishwashing. How about that?"
"Tch, cheapskate. If it weren't for the fact that you're about to go to college, I wouldn't have agreed so easily. Come here."
Tim called Dick over and whispered a lot of things into his ear. Dick nodded repeatedly as he listened.
By the time Schiller entered with Raven, Dick had already been kicked out of the dishwashing group. Schiller took the two of them to the door and gave them a map, on which the locations were already marked.
"You two go invisible first, then use teleportation to get to the target locations. Remember to appear only after leaving the surveillance range, and be polite when knocking on the doors."
Schiller gave a brief instruction and let the two leave. He looked at Jason and Tim, who had been washing those few dishes for over ten minutes and still hadn't finished, and shouted, "Jason Todd."
Jason immediately shivered and went completely stiff. Tim immediately put down the plate, wiped his hands clean, and came to Schiller's side, saying, "Professor, it's not our curfew time yet. How about we help you tidy up the house? Jason is really quite good at cleaning."
"I'm planning to have Rachel attend your high school. What do you think?"
"Dick has already graduated by the time she comes... I mean, no problem, we will definitely take good care of her."
Jason and Tim squeezed against each other on the sofa, one moment exchanging glances, the next suddenly laughing out loud, looking just like two monkeys made of napkins.
