Chapter 2586
After Lex brought out that huge pile of computers and servers, almost all the young people's attention was attracted, even including the Robins who had always looked at Lex with displeasure, all shouting and surrounding the computers to play games.
Lex carried his fishing gear bag to the riverbank himself. Just as he was about to open the package, he heard footsteps behind him. Turning his head, he saw Clark with a nervous face.
"I don't know why you want to do this. Aren't you afraid of being discovered?" Clark was obviously nervous to death. He said, "I think I should take back what I said about not discussing the cultural customs of respecting corpses. You're a bit too outrageous."
"Don't worry, there's no one here," Lex took out a bag of bright red things and threw them into the river, saying, "No one will think I'm cheating at fishing."
"Is this about fishing?! You're dumping a body at your godfather's housewarming party!"
"He will be proud of me."
Clark was almost angered to death by him.
Diana stood in the distance, waving at him and saying, "Come over quickly, we have to help with the barbecue. Only you know how to carve meat."
"I don't want to see any meat right now. Are there any vegetables?"
"Sheriff Gordon brought some. Come over quickly."
Standing in front of the Joker, or rather not exactly in front, Clark was thinking about the possibility of knocking out this lunatic. Although he was the one furthest from the Joker among the people nearby, he was Superman after all; this distance meant nothing to him.
Although Lex killed the person, Clark believed he also had a responsibility. As Superman, he hadn't discovered that so many drug traffickers had mixed into his city, and even let a drug trafficker get close to his friends and girlfriend, almost causing a disaster.
So Clark's actions toward that drug trafficker couldn't be said to be completely rational, carrying a bit of venting factor, which increased his guilty conscience. Hanging out with this group of lunatics all year round, he was becoming more and more abnormal, actually using heat vision to attack a corpse.
Hearing the Joker say something about corpses, Clark felt something was wrong. Now that Lois was right beside him, he absolutely couldn't let this lunatic talk nonsense.
Just as the heat vision in Clark's eyes was charging, a vine suddenly wrapped around the Joker's ankle.
The Joker was immediately tripped, his movements paused, and instantly countless vines broke through the ground, pinning him to the ground. More importantly, they gagged his mouth.
Everyone turned to look at Pamela in unison.
Pamela lowered her head and smiled, saying, "Does anyone want to play poker?"
Everyone relaxed and gathered toward that side, chatting and laughing, while the Joker was still wailing.
After everyone had walked over, Pamela's eyes turned cold. She supported herself on a vine beside her, stepped on the uneven mud of the bank, walked over, and whispered to the Joker, "No matter what you saw, don't stand in the way of me making money."
In the botanical laboratory, Pamela hung up the phone, walked out of the laboratory where she had stayed for several days, and drove toward Wei En Manor.
The car didn't stop at the main gate of Wei En Manor, but circled around to the back gate. As soon as Pamela got out of the car, she saw Alfred standing inside the courtyard wall.
"Good morning, Mr. Butler. Has another blind guy climbed into the courtyard?"
"Yes, two came yesterday. I guess things aren't peaceful on Bruce's side; they know there are children in his house."
"How is it?"
"I fired a shot, and the other one was lucky; he was knocked unconscious by a headbutt from Aisha. I'm afraid I'll have to trouble you to solve it."
"It's all easy to say. I guarantee it will be handled cleanly. After all, cultivating a large number of plants definitely requires enough flower fertilizer."
"Has your debt collection company been established?"
"I found a pretty good intermediary, yes, that's right, it's Harley. She's very interested in this business, but I think she makes sense. Plants aren't good at collecting debts just by being able to fight. It's best if they look terrifying, so there's no shortage of good fertilizer."
"I wish you success, Miss. By the way, there are no chili peppers in the manor. If possible, bring some spicy seasoning when you attend the housewarming banquet. It should be very popular."
"Thank you so much, Mr. Butler. Give me the crate."
When Pamela walked back to the laboratory holding the crate, Harley was already waiting. In the laboratory, Pamela looked her over and asked, "What's wrong with you? Why are you so worried?"
"Schiller's manor definitely won't be sold," Harley sighed and said.
"Why?"
"I took people to repair the house today. Guess what I found?"
"It wouldn't be a corpse, would it?"
Harley snorted coldly and said, "A corpse? You underestimate our professor too much. Do you know how many people are buried in his garden?"
"I don't know, but it's not hard to imagine."
"He actually wants to sell a house like this," Harley sighed heavily and said. "Gothamites have a high level of acceptance, but there's a limit even to that. The repairman dug out seven or eight bones with one shovel, including half a skull. He was almost scared to death."
"You didn't let this spread, did you?"
"Not really," Harley told a cold joke. "I'm preparing to hire a psychologist for them to see if they have post-traumatic stress disorder."
Pamela laughed and said, "Then what do you plan to do?"
"With so much fertilizer, the garden can still be managed like that. I can only say Professor Schiller's butler is gifted," Harley sighed and said. "But since they can be used as flower fertilizer, it shows Schiller doesn't value these people very much. To make the house sell better, I have to find a way to get those things underground moved away."
"You want me to help? Let's be clear, I do have a way to dig them out, but where to throw them? We can't throw them in the sewer, right?"
"Most of them are just bones left. Otherwise, just throw them in the Cat Getan River," Harley scratched her head and said. "But you're too far from the river here."
Harley looked at the crate Pamela was holding and asked, "Where do you usually throw the scraps of flower fertilizer?"
"At the entrance of Schiller's house. There is a particularly large lake behind his new house, which is rich in fish resources and is a good place to dump bodies."
"Then throw them there," Harley said. "Anyway, we're going to attend the housewarming banquet. Let's go to the manor first, tidy up the garden, and then dump all those scraps at once."
"I just happened to have accumulated a batch of scraps," Pamela walked to the refrigerator to rummage and said, "Throw them all together. There shouldn't be any big problems."
Pamela knocked out the Joker who was lying on the ground, stretched, looked at Alfred, and gave him a look that said, "You can rest assured when I handle things; let's cooperate again if needed."
Pamela and Alfred didn't go to play poker, but came to the barbecue grill and started helping to prepare the ingredients.
The poker side automatically divided into 5 groups. Some played Texas Hold'em, some played local Cat Getan poker. The older children were all playing games, and the younger children were splashing and running wildly on the riverbank. No one cared about the knocked-out Joker at all.
Only Jack walked over slowly, muttering beside him, but was soon dragged away by Killer Croc to play poker.
The aroma of roasted meat soon drifted over. Harley took a large handful of skewers and asked everyone to try the taste. Some said it was salty, some said it was bland, but everyone unanimously said it wasn't spicy enough.
"Professor Schiller's taste is too light," Harley complained. "He doesn't even want to put in much pepper. It's really the taste cultivated by those high-end restaurants that pursue the original flavor."
"If you want to put in chili, there's no need to belittle my taste," Schiller turned the meat skewers in his hand and said. "Stimulating food will make my mental state bad. I usually don't..."
"Then your taste is great," Clark blocked Schiller's words and said. "Besides, I don't know how your mental state could be any worse."
The others laughed. Schiller shook his head helplessly and said, "Did anyone bring chili? Perhaps we can..."
"Ah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
A scream came from the riverbank. Everyone turned their heads to look.
Clark rubbed his eyes and said, "Is my mental state not good either? What the hell is that?!!!!!!!!!!"
On the riverbank, a terrifying behemoth was waving countless human arms and slowly crawling out of the lake.
It was an ultimate stitched monster composed of various human tissues. Bones, internal organs, broken skin, and limbs that hadn't been completely shredded condensed into a long centipede, which was now sprawling its upper half and baring its fangs and brandishing its claws.
It didn't seem to understand the specific division of labor of human body parts, just concentrating all the eyeballs on the head, internal organs, bones, and skin in the middle section, while the countless centipede feet were composed of dense fingers and toes.
The children were all scared and ran back like crazy. Everyone screamed and rushed into the woods, except for one group of people who didn't move.
Unsurprisingly, they were the culprits who had added some ingredients to the lake.
Their first reaction was, "Holy shit, did I do this?!" The second reaction was, "Holy shit, did you guys do this?!" The third reaction was, "Holy shit, did we do this together?!"
Pamela was quick-witted. She stretched her hand forward, and countless vines condensed into a large mouth, slapping the corpse centipede monster back into the water, and even used vines to press the monster tightly so it couldn't show its head.
It was clear that she had adopted a strategy of wanting to drown the monster, but no one knew why she thought the monster would drown.
Clark took off into the air without hesitation. Heat vision stirred up the clear water surface, red surged in the center of the lake, and the huge monster would have a large chunk cut off by the heat vision as soon as it showed its head.
Superman didn't go soft on non-human monsters, but the fact that what composed this monster was actually all human was selectively ignored by him.
Gordon immediately picked up the walkie-talkie and shouted toward that side, "Attention everyone! Attention everyone! Emergency assembly! Another monster has appeared in the lake here. Send a helicopter quickly!"
As for where the monster came from, he didn't say a word.
Victor and Nora each held a freeze gun, firing continuously, and soon froze several of the monster's arms.
It was just that their aim wasn't very accurate. Many bullets hit the lake surface beside it, freezing the lake surface solid, as if they wanted to seal the monster in the lake like this.
Lex operated the server beside him, looking like he was checking the monster's data, but suddenly the mobile phones of the people around lost signal, and even photos couldn't be taken.
The unluckiest one was Amanda. When the monster appeared, she happened to be standing by the river, suddenly feeling a black shadow behind her, and was immediately kicked into the lake.
After falling into the lake water, Amanda saw a scene she would never forget for the rest of her life—countless faces she had once seen in cloning instruments, head to head, ear to ear, woven into a human-head blanket, constantly sinking and floating at the bottom of the lake that was emitting a faint light.
They all opened their mouths, calling Amanda's name, constantly rising, rising, and rising again, until they pulled Amanda into them.
After Amanda was fished up and woke up, her expression was dull. She saw the figure who kicked her into the lake standing beside another figure she was more familiar with.
"Well done, Martin."
Then that familiar figure turned to look at her.
"Don't you want to know where your subordinates went?"
Amanda heard a malicious laugh.
"Wish me a happy housewarming, Amanda."
