Chapter 303: The Three Detectives (2)

~2 min read 284 words

In the car, Gordon's face was pale; five murders in just a few days, all involving important people, and each death was bizarrely elaborate—Gordon was under immense pressure.

Unlike Batman, Gordon was truly just an ordinary man; these past days of exhausting effort, sleepless nights, and constant running had left him utterly drained, and by the time they got in the car, his voice was already hoarse, barely able to speak.

Raindrops slapped against the car window; sitting in the passenger seat, Schiller turned back to look at Gordon's pale face and said, "Chief, maybe you should go back and rest for a while."

Gordon offered a strained smile and said, "A few days ago, I used these same words to persuade Batman—I never thought today it would be me. But my answer is the same as his: I'm fine. At least holding out until sunrise today shouldn't be a problem…"

Schiller seemed about to say more, but Batman said, "We're here."

He sounded urgent, because this boarding school was exactly where Dick was enrolled—Dick had only started two days ago, and today should've been his first proper class day, yet this had happened. Batman was worried, after all, it was he who had urged Dick to come here.

Batman stepped first through the boarding school's gate, but the person who came forward grabbed Gordon's hand—he was dressed in police uniform—and said, "You're Chief Gordon, right? I called in the alert. Go to the seventh floor—Mrs. Sanchez, she… she…"

He was an elderly man with a hunched frame, wearing the typical black robe of the boarding school. Gordon comforted him, then asked, "Are you a teacher here? What exactly happened? Can you tell us?"
