Chapter 3445
"Why do you keep it?"
"Keep what?"
A hand covered in a red metal gauntlet tore off the black tablecloth covering the round table, revealing the huge Justice League logo. Only, in the center of this logo, a long crack stretched across, just like the insurmountable chasm that had long existed between the two people standing at the table.
"Hmm, I even forgot about this." The black figure left a seemingly relaxed smile and chose to turn and leave, leaving only the red and blue figure standing alone by the table.
What the person standing at the table didn't know himself was that his gaze lingered on the logo for a full few dozen seconds. In this process, there was no disgust or hatred, only nostalgia and loneliness that seemed to want to drown the entire room.
His image was different from any other Superman. What he wore wasn't a tight suit, but metal armor with soft tight-suit fabric. Chest, arm bends, waist sides, all were hard metal materials.
And most strikingly, his neck and the back of his neck were also covered by blue metal armor, spreading upwards, wrapping his jaw and half the back of his head.
This made him look not as confident and calm as other Supermen, but instead added a few points of vigilance and caution, looking colder and more unapproachable.
Injustice Superman Clark Kent, or rather, the last Kryptonian Kal-El, revealed his light blue eyes the moment he looked up, like a sky where the clouds were about to disperse.
—From the game *Injustice 2* released by NetherRealm Studios in 2017.
A seemingly gentler but more heartless Injustice Superman.
In the plot of the game's predecessor, Superman had completely fallen out with Batman.
However, things are unpredictable. Brainiac, who had destroyed Superman's home planet, returned; Batman realized that to deal with this terrifying mastermind, he needed Superman's help.
Thus, they paused the struggle between the two and chose to sit down and talk. Just after multiple superheroes gathered in one place, everyone tacitly left first, leaving only Batman and Superman standing before the former Justice League conference table, speechless.
Who would miss the past at this time? It must be Batman. But who stayed at this table until the end? How could it be a thorough alien, Kal-El?
When his gaze moved away from the Justice League logo, many images flashed before Superman's eyes. The light that made him unable to open his eyes reminded him of the sunshine in Kansas. When the white light before his eyes disappeared, he had already appeared in this vast white mysterious space.
"Welcome to Battleworld."
The dull sound of boots hitting the metal floor sounded heavier than the continuous gunfire. Batman's voice came from the room, followed by Wonder Woman's voice.
When Superman stood outside the door, people turned to look at him, and he told everyone except Batman with his eyes: "Get out."
After they all left, only Superman and Batman remained in the room. Batman didn't seem to have thought that Superman would come to find him at this time. After all, just a few days ago, they were mortal enemies who wanted to kill each other. If it weren't for the current formidable enemy, they would absolutely not be able to share a room.
"You received the invitation." Superman said.
"I don't understand what you're talking about." Batman was as usual.
"Don't talk nonsense," Superman revealed an impatient expression, "Opening that invitation is more useful than you digging out those old objects in the warehouse that have been gathering dust for who knows how long."
"You think that's useful for repelling Brainiac?"
"It couldn't be more useful than me. So... you have to listen to me." Superman's last few words were placed very lightly, sounding like he had victory in his grasp.
"I hope things can always go as you wish." Batman, who walked to his side, said as he brushed past him.
"Of course." Superman replied expressionlessly.
Not every universe is always facing a formidable enemy, dull and oppressive.
Although Batman is always busy until he's dizzy, there is still a small portion of time when, after a day's busyness ends, he can throw himself onto the sofa without any scruples, smelling the aroma of pancakes coming from the kitchen, and sighing a long breath.
Suddenly, Bruce sat up abruptly, turned his head to Alfred in the kitchen and said: "Did I mention that I'm going to watch a variety show with Clark and Diana tonight?"
"Are you referring to 'Bodin's Makeover Show'?"
"That's right, it should be airing on Wednesday, right?"
"Apologies, sir, it's Thursday."
Bruce had just breathed a sigh of relief when he heard Alfred say again: "Today is Thursday."
Bruce hurriedly put on his slippers and walked to the TV, turned on the TV and adjusted the channel, hurriedly pulling Clark and Diana into the same communication group.
"Good heavens, I thought you were going to break your promise again." Diana said while braiding her hair towards the camera, "Our busy man Wayne always happens to have something to do every Thursday."
"Don't say that, Diana, most of the time I'm not doing it on purpose." Bruce smiled and said.
"Yes, only when the TV station plays a program you don't like, Gotham happens to have a crime that you must deal with." Clark looked like he was writing a draft on his computer, occasionally tilting his head to look at the camera and said, "Or your little birds just happened to cause a not-so-big, not-so-small trouble that needs an hour and twenty minutes to solve."
"But that Steven's art appreciation program is really boring." Bruce spread his hands and said, "Only you two can watch it, our whole family can't."
"Alright, stop arguing, the program is about to start." Diana took a bag of snacks from under the table.
"Too despicable, Diana!" The two men in the camera shouted together. Then Bruce turned his head to the right to take the pancake Alfred handed over, and Clark took a cup of tea from Lois.
Just as Bruce was squeezing syrup onto the pancake, the manor's main gate was kicked open with a 'bang', and three fluffy little birds rolled in.
"Hey! Hey! I'm holding a box, don't squeeze me!"
"It's you who insisted on being the first to rush off the car, otherwise how could we have spilled the parts? Hurry up and hold this, otherwise it won't fit together later!"
"Dick is still waiting for us upstairs, hurry hurry!"
Bruce turned his head back, seeing Jason holding several large boxes, Tim pushing him from behind, and Damian holding a large pile of messy building block parts.
"Your children came back early enough." Diana said while chewing snacks.
"Ever since Jason came back from that building block person's world, he fell in love with building blocks. Don't worry about them, the program is about to start... Clark! Clark!"
For Clark, who disappeared from the lens, Bruce expressed his dissatisfaction. But the reporter wearing glasses soon returned.
"Sorry, I was looking at Battleworld news." Clark picked up his teacup and took a sip of tea, then said, "I have plans to participate in the game recently, what about you guys?"
"Sorry, I don't, I've been busy with work recently." Diana shrugged and said, "Of course, I hope you understand that I'm intentionally creating opportunities for you guys."
"I don't need that." Bruce said, "I will be the first choice for each of you to participate in the game, I know this point. But I happen to be free."
"Is Dick's cold any better?" Clark asked.
"He's much better, especially after knowing that his ice cream share was all given to Jason, he recovered at the limit speed of human body recovery."
"Then it's settled," Clark said, "I'll wait for you in Battleworld next Wednesday."
"Have you picked the dungeon?"
"I don't have any room to pick, whichever one I draw counts." Clark sighed and said.
"Then why not ask me?"
"Stop joking, Bruce, don't I know your luck? What you draw can't be better than mine."
"Don't be too confident." Bruce snorted coldly, opened the Battleworld interface, counted his points and draw chances, rubbed his hands with a smile, and clicked on the draw interface.
Half an hour later, Bruce slumped on the sofa in despair.
"Don't you love watching this program the most?" Diana said, "Today's makeover show is quite exciting, but why do you look like you're... uh, like you're dead?"
"I bet he went to draw." Clark moved the headphone cable aside, then said, "Desperately trying to prove his luck is better than mine, but actually..."
"At least I still drew a dungeon!" Bruce said with grief and indignation, "And it looks quite good. The Superman and Batman there are both very young, perhaps we can guide them!"
"I hope so." Clark took off his headphones and said, "I hope they aren't like we were when we were young."
"What's wrong with us when we were young?" Bruce said indignantly.
"We absolutely weren't like this when we were young." Bruce looked at the two figures outside the alley, nudged Clark beside him with his elbow and said.
Clark opened his mouth, then pursed his lips and said: "Even if you didn't talk to me for two months because I woke you up by flying in your house in the middle of the night, I would absolutely never treat you with such rough means."
"Yes, you would just torture me by getting all the common sense questions wrong on a quiz show." Bruce said.
And Clark—the local Clark, stopped his actions when he discovered there were people at the end of the alley.
But this was slightly too late, because Bruce had already been beaten down by him, and now was completely fainted on the ground. Witnesses, physical evidence, and observers were all present.
He hoped that the one who saw all this wasn't a visitor from another world, but clearly, things always tend to develop in the worst direction.
A Superman and a Batman walked out of the alley.
"Let him go." The fully armed Batman said.
Clark turned to look at him—but mainly looked at the figure standing beside him. Although it was the same red and blue outfit, the metallic luster frequently flashing on Superman's body gave him a very bad feeling.
The two figures continued to approach, but Clark lowered his voice and said: "Stop."
Hearing his cold tone, not only did the Batman and Superman walking in front pause slightly, but even the pair behind were stunned.
"Looks like our luck isn't very good." The Superman behind said to Batman in a low voice, "Another pair of evil partners."
"Let's not go over there first." Batman said, "Having a dispute with them in the city isn't a good thing. If they want to fight here, we must ensure we won't harm innocent people."
"I think so too, but I think they shouldn't be able to fight, after all, even if they are evil, they have to consider..."
Zzz—!!!
The Superman behind hurriedly retreated with Batman, and while the Batman in front was stunned, he was dragged by Superman, dodging Clark's heat vision.
But what could be seen was that the Superman and Batman standing in front were a bit confused. Batman looked at the Superman beside him, then looked at Clark, and then looked at Superman again.
The meaning in his eyes was very clear: "Which one of you is the villain?"
Clark didn't stop at all; after forcing back the two pairs of Batman and Superman with heat vision, he grabbed Bruce and flew up, his eyes glowing red full of warning.
Seeing that neither pair of Batman and Superman intended to come forward, he slowly flew with Bruce in one direction.
"Follow him." The Superman in front also leaped up, ignoring Batman entirely, and immediately chased after the figure in front.
