Chapter 3484: Research on Cats and Dogs (Part 43)
"It's over, it's over, it really came late after all."
But then, Batman was a bit confused.
Whose voice is this? Superman's???
Is this something Superman would say???
The members of the Justice League in the room were also stunned. Diana shouted at Clark: "Is this your line, and you just said it?"
"Uh, sorry, got it wrong... but this can't be blamed on me either. Who let that group of Supermen in Battleworld not talk about Batman for three sentences?!"
Clark just wanted to say something else, when Diana let out a scream, and then pointed angrily at the steel-toothed puppy jumping around on the ground and said: "Why is there an enchantment of Vulcan on this?! I said how could it break through my divine power defense!"
"Because this was modified with parts from a paper shredder!" Bruce said triumphantly.
"You actually dare to use the artifact I gave you to deal with me!"
"This isn't your line either, right?! This isn't what the Professor often recited before..."
When Batman came in, he saw such a scene—those who could fly were all curled up in the corners of the ceiling, and those who couldn't fly were either standing on the table or on the sofa. And on the empty floor, a metal piece only the size of a human palm, with sharp teeth, was baring its fangs and looking like a tiger watching its prey.
Batman wasn't good at encounter battles, even if what he encountered was just a mobile phone with teeth.
Half a minute later, Batman and Lex stood side by side on the table. The two looked at each other, and then looked at the phone on the ground at the same time.
And Bruce, floating in mid-air, said: "It seems I still need to strengthen its jumping ability, Lex, do you have high-pressure springs in your lab..."
"Take you and your phone and get out of my manor! Immediately! Right now!!!"
Ten minutes later, Superman, who had finished the battle and flew over from Cat Getan, picked up Batman and the three giants of the Justice League who had been thrown out at the door of Luthor Manor.
"How was it?" Batman looked at Superman and asked.
"He got away." Superman shook his head, and then he looked at the three people behind him with some curiosity.
"Alright, we've broken up with Lex Luthor once again." Bruce spread his hands and said, "Evil scientists really can't be relied on."
"You actually have the nerve to call others evil scientists?" Diana, while using the Lasso of Truth to entangle the biting phone Bruce had developed, looked at Bruce with an incredulous look.
"He kicked the soul figures of the Justice League out at such a critical juncture; isn't that evil enough?"
"Clearly, the three of us added together can't be called the soul figures of the Justice League." Clark shrugged and said, "What's the next step, go to your place or my place? Diana?"
"Go to my place, my place can be a bit more spacious than yours." Diana finally tied up the phone, left a section of the lasso, and carried it like a meteor hammer.
"Hmm, so..." Superman's gaze wandered between them, and he used his finger to draw a horizontal line, saying, "You were kicked out by the others?"
"Mainly him." Diana pointed at Bruce with her thumb and said, "And we were afraid that Metropolis... afraid that he would have an accident, so we followed him out."
"We obtained some new information in Cat Getan, and this matter might be related to Martians. I think we should..."
Before Batman finished speaking, Clark pressed his shoulder and turned him in a direction, making him face Luthor Manor, and then said: "Exchanging information requires finding the Justice League."
"Aren't you the Justice League?"
"Whoever does the work is the Justice League." Clark pointed inside the manor and said, "Clearly, the ones working early and late in the office right now aren't us. You found the wrong people."
After speaking, Clark grabbed Bruce and Diana and took off together. It wasn't until they disappeared from Batman's field of vision that he reacted.
He followed the three of them out of the manor because he wanted to tell them about what happened in Cat Getan. Didn't expect these three people didn't want to listen at all.
"Should we chase?" Superman asked.
Batman pondered for a moment and shook his head, saying: "Forget it, the three of them don't look reliable. Let's go find Luthor."
They returned to the manor and found Lex in the office. He was watching the Cat Getan TV report; the screen was displaying the battle between Superman and the bearded man from all angles. Data appeared on another screen, and Lex was focused, seemingly calculating something.
There was more than one person in the office, there was also another pair of Superman and Batman, which were Injustice Superman and Injustice Batman.
"This should be a Martian." Injustice Batman said first, "But it can't be Martian Manhunter. I know J'onn; he isn't this weak."
"I think so too." Batman walked up and said, "We can basically confirm this is a Martian. And excluding Martian Manhunter, the most likely one is his brother Ma'alefa'ak."
"This guy has a grudge against Martian Manhunter; after destroying Mars, he traveled thousands of miles to Earth to hunt down his brother, and will also cooperate with some evil existences to invade Earth."
"I think he isn't the main attacker, just a scout. But even so, it's still very hard to deal with. The Martian's psychic ability and intangibility ability mean we have no means to catch him."
Lex raised a hand to stop what Batman was saying. Batman originally thought Lex didn't agree with him, but didn't expect Lex to pick up his phone and say to the other side: "Everyone come over, meeting time."
In less than five minutes, everyone was there. This was also the first time the local Justice League and two pairs of outsiders participated in the same meeting.
The conference table was full, but it just made people feel like something was missing.
What else could be missing? Batman thought, the three giants of this universe's Justice League didn't come. Sitting in the main seat where Batman should have been was Oliver, on the left hand side in Wonder Woman's position was Lex, on the right hand side in Superman's position was Hal. On the left were Pamela, Kara, and Harley, the women's trio, and on the right were Barry and Arthur.
"Wait a while, a few more friends haven't arrived." Oliver looked at his phone and then said.
Originally Batman thought they still intended to call the three giants back, but didn't expect the ones who appeared in the conference room two minutes later were Zatanna and Constantine.
"Finally made it." Zatanna let out a long breath, "Didn't expect Metropolis to be so jammed. I thought I was going to be late, fortunately not."
The two sat down at the table. Zatanna sat on the girls' side, and Constantine sat next to Arthur.
And the two pairs of Superman and Batman all sat in the last few seats, separated from the people in front by several chairs.
Oliver turned on the microphone, blew into the microphone, and then said: "Alright, let's start."
"Although I don't want to say too many polite words, we still need to express a welcome to the four superheroes who traveled thousands of miles to support our universe..."
As soon as the words fell, everyone gave face and applauded. When the warm applause echoed in the conference room, Batman and the Supermen, especially the Batmen, felt for the first time what it meant to be on pins and needles.
Are you holding a shareholder meeting here?
The Batmen were indeed very unaccustomed to someone welcoming them. Batman had always been unwelcome, whether in his own universe or across universes. As long as there were other Batmen, they guarded against them like thieves.
Entering other universes as a Battleworld player was actually very subtle. It was absolutely impossible for locals to have no defense against them; defense while utilizing was the norm.
Even if they didn't go to other people's homes, just at the Battleworld base, every Batman guarded against himself like guarding against a tiger, raising their spirits twelve times every minute and second. Tasting eight hundred flavors from one look, analyzing two thousand pieces of information from one action, was simply too common.
Even if there were indeed some existences who would show kindness to them, it was limited to being able to listen to them seriously, or giving some cooperation in action.
It was the first time they had been welcomed so solemnly.
The applause stopped, and Oliver continued: "The main goal of this meeting is to summarize the information we have obtained about the enemy so far. Everyone can speak freely, say whatever you have to say."
"I propose two requirements: one is that when analyzing aliens, don't bring in our comrades. Although they might have been born on the same planet, we shouldn't use the birthplace to distinguish between enemy and friend, but should use character and ideals."
"The second point is, after one person finishes speaking, give a clear end signal; before that, others shouldn't interrupt him. Even if there are objections, wait until he finishes speaking before refuting."
"Alright, let's start now."
Oliver first looked at his left hand side. Lex sorted the documents in his hand, tapped the microphone lightly, and began to read from the documents: "I queried and organized the suspicious points in all road surveillance in Metropolis over the past week, and found a total of 123 abnormal places. Among them, about 47 are suspected to be related to the alien invasion."
"I sent people to investigate the residents of these 47 locations and collected 32 abnormal eyewitness reports. After analysis by professionals from the Luthor Group, 12 of them can be confirmed to indeed have abnormalities. They are respectively..."
If one had to say what was bad about such a meeting process, it was probably that it was too easy to get sleepy.
Batman swore he had tried very hard to listen carefully, but this data indeed didn't enter his brain. By the time Lex finished speaking, the Superman next
Next was Hal on the right. He also picked up several reports and began to read:
"According to the reconnaissance by extraterrestrial defense forces, in addition to the alien spacecraft fuel residue found earliest, six more suspicious flight remnants have been discovered recently. They are located in the Kuiper Belt (1132, 531, 62)..."
By the time Hal finished reading, Superman had already peacefully entered dreamland.
When it was Pamela's turn, there was finally some change. Pamela pushed up the glasses on her face and said, "I haven't conducted external investigations. This week, I mainly focused on advancing the Kryptonite plant cultivation research project initiated by Mr. Luthor. I will report on the current research results."
"No. 1 water-cultivated fan cactus, after three days of soaking and catalysis with No. 2 reagent, the spikes showed inconspicuous mutations..."
Batman now somewhat understood why the three giants of this universe didn't come to meetings. But he understood a bit too late; he certainly couldn't leave now.
To say that the information they were discussing was useless would, of course, be impossible. The Injustice Batman opposite him was listening with such rapt attention that anyone could see he had absolutely noted down every single piece of data from every statement.
But the problem is, any data in the world is dry and boring. Because you must report the facts truthfully, without adding any subjective color, and there is no room for artistic processing. This means he can only mobilize the rational part of the human brain.
Just like learning mathematics, this consumes one's mental power and energy very quickly. Most importantly, insufficient dopamine stimulation just makes people sleepy. Whoever comes gets sleepy.
But Batman felt this wasn't the main reason he was sleepy. The main reason should be that this group of people had done all the work that was supposed to be his. He had nothing to do and was too idle, so of course, he would feel drowsy.
