Chapter 3538: Mind Hunter (7)
"What is your relationship with Zod?" Barry asked.
El hesitated to speak, opened and closed his mouth for a long time, and finally spat out a sentence: "... we have no relationship."
Barry narrowed his eyes. El wanted to say something else, but Barry raised a hand and said: "You don't have to say it, I understand everything."
El really wanted to know what he understood, but Barry stopped talking. Barry watched him take the mold out of the low-temperature box and asked: "What is this?"
"A key," El said.
"Used for what?"
"To start a machine," El offered a smile, opened the mold, and took out the nail made of silver metal spirals. The bright red liquid inside condensed like a beating heart.
"Sounds like you had a plan early on," Barry said, crossing his arms.
"It's not that I had a plan early on, but that the Krynians had a plan early on," El turned around and said, "This planet is very special. Although it looks like a very small planet, in its center, there is a heart more surging than the stars in our star system."
"What do you mean?" Barry didn't want to analyze the metaphors in his words, so he just asked directly.
"Who do you think created Krypton?"
"Uh, God?"
El shook his head and said: "God might be your god, but not ours. The god that Krynians and Kryptonians believe in is called 'Rao'. The meaning of this name in the Kryptonian language is 'Sun'."
"Legend has it that Rao planted a seed in the core of Krypton and allowed Kryptonians to gain power from it. So for generations, we have been extracting energy from the core."
"Where does the core get so much energy?" Barry couldn't help but ask. He brought Earth's situation into it—although Earth's core might be undergoing some reactions, even putting aside technical issues, just the long transport line, how high would the efficiency of extracting energy have to be to break even?
"Unlike your planet, or rather unlike most planets in the universe, Krypton should actually be considered an unfinished star."
"A star?! But... but this is too small." Barry said.
"That's why it's unfinished." El put the key into another device, began to observe it, and said, "Rao gave us a seed, and we have to make it sprout or grow ourselves."
"This is also the belief that Krynians have always held." El walked to the shelf next to him to pick tools and said, "They have been constantly transforming this planet, changing its gravity parameters, and adding planetary shields for it. More importantly, they transformed the fusion reactor in the core, preparing for all possible situations in the future."
"Including the situation I mentioned?"
"Of course. Even if we perish, didn't the planet hold on until you came?"
That's true. Barry nodded and said. He knew that although the Kryptonians perished, the planet Krypton was still quite tough.
Thinking of this, he suddenly realized something was wrong.
The Kryptonian civilization was very advanced, and even if it wasn't, would anyone not want something picked up for free? A well-known civilization was destroyed, and I'm afraid many civilizations would want to pick up the corpse. Even if these devices couldn't be started, taking the parts out should be a bit useful.
And Krypton's state was so special, it must also have research value. Why didn't those advanced civilizations take advantage of the fire to rob and take this planet away?
Is it because of H'El?
Barry thought about it and felt it was possible. This guy was so strong, even if he went to find trouble with advanced civilizations, it would be enough to give them a headache. Civilizations with lower levels would be directly destroyed by him.
It seems H'El is also one of the backhands to protect the planet Krypton. The El family is really far-sighted.
Barry also thought, could this be utilized?
If H'El had deep feelings for his own race, then it was definitely irreparable, because at the current point in time, except for a few scattered Kryptonians, everyone else was dead. Because of the genetic defect problem, resurrection didn't make much sense.
But if he only had deep feelings for this planet, then it was actually negotiable. And if he was implanted with the setting of protecting this planet Krypton, then it could actually be utilized to "hold the emperor to command the princes".
"Let's talk about H'El," El brought the topic back and said, "I heard he caused you quite a bit of trouble?"
"That's right. If nothing goes wrong, he should be going crazy at our sun right now."
El sighed softly and said: "If I say he is a good child, you will definitely refute me. But it is a fact, it's just..."
"Just what?"
"It's just that he has suffered too much," El said, stirring the solution in the test tube, "The fusion of multiple powerful genes is not as simple as you think. There were many problems during embryo conservation, even making them abandon this project for a time."
"Later, after various twists and turns and investing a lot of energy, H'El was finally born. But as I said before, he didn't show any superpowers."
"Hiss, they wouldn't..."
"The Council couldn't accept that they spent a lot of manpower and material resources just to get such a result. They felt that his powerful abilities might need some stimulation to manifest."
Barry's face gradually sank. Even if H'El was their enemy, and everything on Krypton had nothing to do with humans, he still felt a bit annoyed.
The one held by Lara wasn't even a toddler, but just an infant in swaddling clothes. Even if the physical quality and brain of Kryptonians were much stronger than humans, it was just an infant after all.
"When we stole him from the laboratory, he was already covered in scars." El lowered his head and sighed softly, "His mental state was also not good. Those methods that were eager for success and were inhumane and applied to him made his mental state never very stable."
Fine. Barry thought, if it's a mental patient, many problems are easy to answer.
"However," El changed the subject and said, "I think Lara and I can cure him, at least let him live a normal life. If he ran to your place to find trouble, it's very likely he was stimulated by something else."
Barry started thinking again.
H'El had childhood trauma, but after the care and treatment of the El couple, it basically didn't affect his normal life. It's just that after being away from home for many years and returning to Krypton, he suddenly found that his home and parents were all gone, which was very likely to be stimulated again.
But the key question is, why did he run to the Solar System after being stimulated? There is no causal relationship between the two.
Unless someone made him feel that Krypton's destruction and his adoptive parents' death had something to do with the Solar System.
Everyone who could breathe on Krypton was gone, and H'El returning should only see a ruin. Then who exactly...
Barry had a flash of inspiration, and he suddenly understood what El meant by telling him these things. He tentatively asked: "What exactly is going on with that artificial intelligence you mentioned earlier?"
El really smiled and turned to look at Barry, saying: "That's a long story. You just need to know that this electronic life created by Kryptonians has never been under the control of Kryptonians from beginning to end."
Barry was a bit dumbfounded; he knew something like this would happen.
Then the truth is very likely: H'El returned to Krypton, found that everything he cherished was destroyed, was overwhelmed by anger, and was manipulated by electronic life, so he went straight to the Solar System to find trouble with Earthlings.
Then the question is, what kind of grudge does this electronic life have with Earth?
Barry felt that one couldn't apply the logic of carbon-based organisms to electronic life. Kryptonians didn't find Earth, which doesn't mean that electronic life that can spread in radio waves and networks couldn't find it.
But if he chose Earth, he could have controlled Earth through network attacks; there was no need to fool H'El.
Since he chose to take such a big detour, it proves that he is not omnipotent either. Either he has some limitations, or there is something on Earth that he fears.
"Does this artificial intelligence have any weaknesses?" Barry asked.
"Not yet," El turned to look at Barry with a smile, "But you are here, so naturally there will be."
"What do you want to do?"
"I hope you can bring the unlocking authorization of this electronic life's bottom-layer protocol to Earth."
Barry's breathing stopped.
"Why should I do this?"
"Naturally, it is to let everything in the future happen."
Barry's mind turned rapidly.
So, H'El came to the Solar System to make trouble under the manipulation of artificial intelligence because he took away the unlocking authorization of his bottom-layer protocol in the past?
But what reason did he have to agree to El? Isn't this purely looking for trouble for Earth?
Just then, he heard El say: "I hope you can help me write a letter and leave it for Kal who will come here in the future."
Barry nodded subconsciously.
El said the content of the letter. And when he mentioned the plan related to the "key", Barry looked up at him in shock.
He felt his fingertips holding the pen trembling slightly. If this plan succeeds... H'El coming to the Solar System to make a big scene doesn't seem unacceptable.
Barry took a deep breath and began to write rapidly on the paper.

But what reason did he have to agree to El? Wouldn't that just be creating trouble for Earth?
Just then, he heard El say again, "I hope you can help me write a letter, to be left for Kal when he arrives here in the future."
Barry nodded subconsciously.
El dictated the contents of the letter. And when he mentioned the plan involving the "key," Barry looked up at him in shock.
He felt his fingertips, which were holding the pen, trembling slightly. If this plan succeeded... then Hail coming to the solar system to wreak havoc didn't seem so unacceptable after all.
Barry took a deep breath and began to write rapidly on the paper.
