Chapter 3610: Injustice League (Part 10)

~10 min read 1,975 words

In the sky covered with dark clouds, the phantom of a huge spaceship appeared and disappeared. On the scarred ground, survivors who had experienced many hardships had already learned to hide in shelters. Even if the world were to be destroyed in the next second, there was nothing more they could do.

When looking up at the spaceship, one could see the muzzles of many huge railguns on both sides of the spaceship. But at the bottom of the spaceship, there was something particularly eye-catching—it was a circular cabin with an independent muzzle underneath.

People recognized what that was, because just a short while ago, the light beam emitted by this thing had collected two cities on the East Coast into bottles, almost confirming all the terrifying legends humans had about aliens.

People called that thing the "Collection Engine." They couldn't figure out how this thing worked at all, and could only pray that its charging speed would be slower, and that the next attack location wouldn't be their turn.

Unfortunately, the charging speed of the Collection Engine was much faster than they had imagined. Not long after, the rich white light lit up again, and this time, the muzzle was aimed at the big city on the US East Coast—Boston.

Standing on the roof of a Boston building, faint green light emerged in Hal's eyes. That Green Lantern energy, which should have represented justice and peace in the eyes of most people, carried a hint of terrifying horror when it appeared on him.

Hal didn't move, but Superman, standing behind him, saw countless thin green lines spreading from his body, weaving into a large net, slowly merging into the white light emitted by the Collection Engine.

Each green line was compressed Green Lantern energy. Even though Superman was insensitive to energy, he could fully feel that the energy surrounding him now was astonishingly abundant.

Soon, the Green Lantern energy disappeared without a trace in the white light, but everyone could feel that the nature of the white light had changed—it was no longer the power directly manipulated by Brainiac; the source of the power had become Hal.

No one knew how he did it. He still looked very calm, which made Superman feel tricky. He had originally thought this could make Hal consume a portion of his power, making it convenient for him to take action later.

The entire city of Boston rose from the ground, starting to become smaller and smaller in the light. The green light in Hal's eyes still hadn't extinguished, which let others know that this process of shrinking the city was likely being controlled by him.

Cyborg nodded at Batman without a trace. Batman understood that his guess was correct, and then he looked at Hal again. Although he had expected it, the Green Lantern of this universe was much more powerful than he had imagined.

Just at this moment, at an angle only Superman could see, Hal's fingertips trembled slightly. Superman's vision, which far exceeded that of ordinary people, allowed him to capture this detail. He narrowed his eyes, and a trace of imperceptible smile flashed across the corner of his mouth.

Sure enough. Now, although he and Batman and the others were at odds, for Hal, he was facing three people from other universes alone. Even if he had consumed quite a bit of power, he absolutely could not show weakness.

Superman thought he had grasped Hal's flaw, and began to calculate the previous plan in his mind. Although Wonder Woman was stupid enough to give him a headache, she was indeed his firm ally. As long as she was there, Batman wouldn't be able to muddle through so easily.

The city became smaller and smaller, and the white light gradually formed a spherical shield, enveloping the entire city, sucking it into the Collection Engine, and then sending it through pipes into Brainiac's collection laboratory.

When this city went in, Brainiac wasn't there. He actually didn't care for collectibles like a city at all.

The reason he kept collecting American cities was to put pressure on Superman and Batman. His true goal was the entire Earth, and he didn't care much about these small collectibles.

This gave the group an opportunity to act. When the small ball containing Boston was placed on a cabinet by a robotic arm, Hal, standing on the roof, waved his hand, a green light flashed, and the group appeared in the collection laboratory together.

This place was filled with all kinds of collectibles, basically cities or planets packed in bottles. Some looked like buildings for humanoid creatures, but some were strange and bizarre.

None of the people present had the leisure to enjoy the scenery, so they left the collection laboratory. Superman used his super-hearing to distinguish the direction, and then said: "There is the sound of large equipment running on the lower level; there might be the interface you are looking for there."

Cyborg nodded and said: "I also feel a signal on the lower level, let's go down first."

They walked through the corridors of the spaceship cabin all the way, heading toward the elevator. But just as they were about to approach the elevator, a patrolling spherical robot suddenly flew over.

After seeing the group, it emitted a sharp and ear-piercing alarm sound:

"Warning! Warning! There are intruders!!!"

Instantly, security robots in the corridor on the other side swarmed over. Seeing that the elevator couldn't be taken, the group immediately rushed toward the direction they came from.

There were no stairs there, just a small atrium. Fortunately, these people were all highly skilled, jumping down one after another. The security robots chased after them, but the laser weapons they carried didn't hit them even once.

The lower level was indeed a place where important equipment was stored, but the security here was clearly much tighter. As soon as they jumped down, they saw a group of security robots. The other side also sent a warning first, and then directly opened fire on them.

They weren't carrying those kinds of small laser guns, but very deadly energy weapons. The leading robot floated in the air, its arm being a huge electromagnetic cannon with high output that even Batman hadn't seen before. With one shot, the sturdy metal plate of the corridor wall was instantly melted, and high heat could be felt from far away.

"Run!" Batman said.

"This way! I can feel the signal is this way!" Cyborg ran toward the other side of the corridor.

The group ran toward that side again. Cyborg stopped in front of a door, and Superman punched the door; apart from leaving a dent, the thick metal door didn't move at all.

Hal squatted down, pressed his hand on the ground, and Green Lantern energy spread along the cracks of the door, unlocking it from the inside. The group rushed in all at once, closed the door, and locked the security robots outside.

"Seal the door! Give me two minutes!" Cyborg said while walking inside.

Superman immediately pressed his body against the door.

He naturally knew this was useless, because the security robots on the opposite side used energy weapons, which could even directly melt metal. It wouldn't be hard at all to give the door a "hot greeting."

The only thing that could deal with energy weapons was energy weapons, and among the people here, the only one who could use energy was Green Lantern Hal—he was going to further consume Hal's energy.

A buzzing sound came from outside the door. The temperature on the surface of the door began to get higher and higher, blue flames even emerged from the cracks above, and the center of the door panel began to deform due to the excessively high temperature.

"Damn it," Superman cursed, "This won't work, we must block their energy weapons!"

"I'll do it," Hal walked forward and said.

He knelt on one knee and placed his hand on the ground. Green Lantern energy spread out along the cracks of the door again. Without hearing any movement, the door returned to its original state, and even those security robots outside were beaten up by him.

However, more and more security robots began to rush here. Brainiac seemed to have noticed this side too.

Superman could hear with his super-hearing that something big seemed to be coming this way. He turned his head and glanced at Cyborg.

"Are you done?" Batman walked to Cyborg's side and asked.

"I've already found the spaceship design blueprints, but the encryption is very strict, I need a little time..."

"It's okay, we can still hold on," Superman said.

BOOM!!!

Just as he finished speaking, the door was blown away directly. A huge turret floating in the air appeared at the door. Hal waved his hand violently, and a green barrier blocked in front of the group.

BOOM!!

Another shot directly blew Hal and Superman away. Brainiac's voice echoed in the room:

"I really didn't expect you to be able to come here," his voice revealed a kind of inorganic coldness, "Then I'm afraid you won't have a chance to go back."

More and more robots flew toward this side; some looked like flying cannons, some were spherical robots, and some had very strange structures, looking like they were imitating the structures of certain creatures.

But without exception, these robots could cause a lot of trouble for humanoid creatures. They had fire, high heat, and explosions that carbon-based creatures feared most, clearly manufactured specifically to deal with Superman's group.

"Done!!" Cyborg shouted, "I've finished copying, let's go!!"

Looking at the more and more robots pouring in at the door, the group looked solemn. At this time, Superman stood out and said: "I'll open the way! You run out!!"

After finishing, he rushed directly into the robot crowd, took a deep breath, and froze all the robots around him with an ice breath. Batman and Cyborg took the opportunity to run out.

Hal was originally following behind them, but the number of robots in the corridor exceeded expectations. To protect the two of them as they left, Hal had to use Green Lantern energy to destroy the robots in front of him, while also having to prop up a shield to prevent those robots that could fire energy shells from giving them a hard time.

Breaking out all the way, the trembling of Hal's arm was already very obvious. When approaching the porthole, he said: "I don't have much energy left, you go first."

Batman and Cyborg also understood the importance of the data in their hands and didn't stand on ceremony with Hal, but broke the porthole at the fastest speed and jumped out.

The pursuers arrived immediately, and Hal appeared somewhat strained. After Superman flew over, he said: "We have to clear this wave of robots, otherwise if they chase down, Batman and the others might not be able to run away."

Hal nodded, his breathing amplitude much larger than before. Superman saw all of this in his eyes.

And at this time, the turret robot that had just blown open the door was mixed in the pile of robots and approaching this side. Superman had already discovered it with his super-vision, but he deliberately didn't remind them, instead pretending to retreat two steps after charging up.

BOOM!!!

A shell from the turret robot hit Hal directly, who was busy eliminating other robots. Hal's Green Lantern energy was clearly insufficient, and the shield finally released was as thin as paper, shattering in an instant.

Hal was immediately knocked flying, hitting the porthole heavily, and fell into a coma. Superman went over and scooped him up, finally gave the robot an ice breath, and flew out of the window with him.
