Chapter 374: Guiding the Hydra from the Start (Part 2)

"So, you said you have a way to solve my problem—what is it?" In the office, Schiler sat back in his chair and looked at the Pikachu on the desk. Pikachu hugged its tiny arms and said, "Did you forget? Earlier, I dove straight into that yellow toilet and sucked out all the energy inside."

"Those so-called yellow lantern energies restored a fair bit of my power. Since I haven't had any chances to fight lately, I spent the past few days crafting this…"

As he spoke, Pikachu pulled out a ring that was somewhat large for him—he had to hold it with both hands just to carry it. Schiler propped his elbows on the desk and rubbed his temple. "You know, you look exactly like a hamster clutching a sunflower seed."

Before Pikachu could get angry, Schiler snatched the ring away. He held it up to his eyes, examined it closely, and found nothing unusual. "This is just an ordinary ring, isn't it?"

"Try putting it on."

"Swear this isn't a prank." Schiler stared into his eyes. Pikachu blinked, then suddenly leapt up, snatched the ring back from Schiler's hand, and pulled out another ring. "Alright, this one's the real thing."

Schiler took the new ring. This time, he placed it in his palm and noticed it glowing with a soft yellow light.

"What is this? A yellow lantern ring?" Schiler asked, puzzled. "Can yellow lantern energy even be used in this world?"

Pikachu shrugged. "I sensed this world has no source of that power. The energy I gathered is finite—it's gone once used. If you want more, you have to return to my original world to recharge."

"This ring is the same. I infused it with some energy, but once it's drained, you must come back to me to recharge."

"What can it do?"

"Many things: levitation, teleportation, energy beams, super strength, self-healing, speed…"

"Isn't that just a Lantern's power?"

"Yes—except the energy is limited. I estimate it'll last about a month. Once it's dead, it'll fly back to me automatically…"

"Are there any selection criteria? Like, must the user instill fear in others?"

Pikachu shook his head. "Since there's no source of power here, there are no rules. I can give it to anyone."

"Now you've got a 24/7 assistant who doesn't eat, drink, or sleep. How's that? Doesn't it solve your problem completely?"
