Chapter 3875
Darkseid withdrew his thoughts and looked down at the battle situation on the Oa Vanguard Shield satellite. This was the outpost base of the Guardians of the Universe's headquarters, Oa, and also one of the Vanguard Shield deployment points. The Vanguard Shield was the last barrier of Oa; once this place was breached, Sector 0, where Oa was located, would be declared cleared.
The Vanguard Shield, which used to flicker day and night, had become dim under the attack of the endless army of Parademons. And those Lanterns who should have been guarding this planet were also using the power of the emotional spectrum to constantly attack the shield, even more crazily than those cruel and bloodthirsty Parademons.
Green Lanterns took the lead, Yellow Lanterns followed closely, Blue and Violet Lanterns were not to be outdone, and even the Red Lanterns, who had always played the role of villains, had to help out. Countless colorful rays flickered near Oa, as dazzling as neon.
In the central meeting hall of Oa, the Guardians of the Universe were discussing in a flustered manner. The little blue men sat around the circular meeting hall in robes, first arguing, then fighting. Their short bodies and big heads rolled into a ball, not a bit of the previous demeanor of planning and elegant style to be seen.
"Enough!" A little blue man standing on a high place waved his scepter hard and shouted, "We have done enough wrong things! This is our retribution! The only way now is to abandon Oa and return to our old home. Otherwise, Darkseid will not let us go!"
"Ganthet! You coward!" Another Guardian of the Universe roared at the person on the high place, "Why should we bow to that kid who hasn't even grown his hair?! When the Guardian of the Universe race was developing the universe, his ancestors were still digging for food in the dirt!"
"Why are you so unrepentant?!" The little blue man called Ganthet said with heartbreak, "In order to suppress Hal Jordan, you actually drew away the power of the Lantern ring at the critical moment of his duel, killing him alive. Not just him, Sector 73, Sector 98, Sector 106... how many people have you killed, I'm afraid you can't even count them yourselves, right?!"
"If it weren't for your repeated forcing, how could the Lanterns rebel against us? Now you not only don't reflect on your own mistakes, but also shirk responsibility to each other, and underestimate Darkseid who fought all the way here!"
Ganthet took two steps back and said, "I founded the Blue Lantern Corps; they are all my children, but they sacrificed in vain because of your wrong decisions. My wife and I will never allow such cruel and shameless behavior of yours! I will leave here and will never come back again!"
After speaking, he turned and left. Suddenly someone called him: "Wait! I'm going with you."
Another little blue man in a robe walked towards Ganthet. The two on the right looked at each other and also stepped to follow Ganthet; a little further away, someone also walked towards there.
The little blue man standing in the center of the field was about to say something, when a little blue man who looked obviously old said, "Ganthet is right. This time you have gone too far. Hal Jordan should not have sacrificed in vain, and we will pay the price for this."
"But are we going to abandon everything on Oa?! This is our painstaking management for many years, are we just going to let that damn New God have it?!"
"If what they wanted was Oa, they wouldn't have failed to break the Vanguard Shield by now," the elderly little blue man said. "They want to swallow us in one bite. If we don't leave now, I'm afraid we won't be able to leave."
"No! We still have the ultimate weapon!" The little blue man in the center of the field said, "That experiment is about to be completed. As long as we take it out, they will definitely withdraw their troops!"
"You're crazy!" Ganthet turned and cursed, "If you want to destroy the universe, then do it. I can't stand you lunatics for even a second; I shouldn't have come back in the first place!"
He walked quickly to the door, but when he was about to leave, he said in a deep voice, "Lies have been repeated too many times, and you have believed them yourselves. Was the emotional spectrum really discovered by us? Does the power of the seven lights really come from us? Do you think that if you don't mention it, he won't come back? I said, this is our retribution."
After speaking, he left the meeting center with about a dozen Guardians of the Universe. When these words fell, the others in the field looked a bit shaken, and some even showed obvious signs of fear.
"Could it be that he has returned?" Someone asked. But no one could answer him, not even the oldest Guardian of the Universe.
Ganthet took the little blue men who shared his views and boarded a small spaceship. Although they could fly, in such a chaotic battlefield, unidentified flying objects without markings would be shot down immediately. The physical strength of the little blue men was not that strong, and they didn't want to get hit.
"Report, Your Majesty, a small spaceship has taken off from the surface, should we intercept it?"
"Can you detect their communication signal?"
"Yes, he took the initiative to send us an application. It seems he wants to chat. Do you want to answer?"
"Connect it," Darkseid said.
"Hello, Your Majesty Darkseid," Ganthet spoke first. He said, "Time is tight, let's keep it short. The emotional spectrum was not discovered by the Guardians of the Universe, nor did we invent the technology to use it. All of this was stolen from the first Lantern, we call him the First Lantern. Later, because the Guardians of the Universe feared his power, they set a trap and imprisoned him. The location is not on Oa, but I don't know exactly where it is."
"What I want to tell you is that since the establishment of the Lantern Corps, the Guardians of the Universe have been stealing the power of the emotional spectrum through the Lantern furnace. They have intercepted a lot of power and attempted to use this power to manufacture a weapon capable of dealing with the First Lantern. Now, the weapon engine containing all the power is in the core of Oa. If you push them too hard, they might detonate that big bomb."
"The way to solve this bomb is to go to the core of Oa while they are not paying attention. Note, you must send a Lantern. Only those who possess the power of the seven lights can get close to there. As long as you find a way to draw the power out of the engine core, the bomb will not explode. You will also be safe. I believe this information is enough for you to let me go. Isn't it, Your Majesty?"
Darkseid twisted his fingers lightly. This could be a conspiracy of the little blue men, but he was more inclined to believe it was true, because it was something that could be confirmed by sending a Lantern, so there was really no need to lie. Even if they lied, it would be exposed quickly.
If, as he said, this group of little blue men intercepted the power of the seven lights and even dreamed of using this power to manufacture some kind of weapon, then it was indeed a trouble for them. Not to mention anything else, Darkseid had taken a fancy to this planet, and if the planet were really blown up, the loss would be too great.
"Let them go," Darkseid said. "At the same time, send someone to follow them and see where they are going."
At this time, the communication had not been hung up, and Darkseid was clearly threatening Ganthet. But Ganthet didn't care, and after thanking him, he left.
"Send our spies to see," Darkseid waved his hand and said.
Desaad hesitated for a moment and then said, "Should we hide it from Batman? If there is really so much energy, we can take it ourselves..."
"What do we need energy for?" Darkseid raised his eyebrows and said. "If there is really energy, give it all to Batman. All I want is this planet at the center of the universe, and I will move the Apokolips domain here."
"Even so, there's no need to let Batman have it cheap..."
"Do you think he doesn't know?" Darkseid snorted coldly and said. "He definitely knows the situation at the center of Oa, and even has a basic estimate of how much energy there is. He is just testing me; if I intend to hide it from him, he will definitely trick me."
"Moreover," Darkseid paused and said, "the situation in the multiverse is very complicated. If he doesn't get some good things to protect his little planet, where would he get the energy to manage other universes? If it weren't for that guy being too suspicious, I would have wanted to persuade him to move Earth next to Apokolips, at least it wouldn't be wiped out by some third-rate civilization."
Desaad didn't ask any more questions, but bowed and went down. He could also understand Darkseid's idea: within one universe, Earth was a stumbling block for Darkseid's destruction and expansion; but if you look at the multiverse, Earth and Apokolips were one, they belonged to the same single universe, and it could be said that they prospered together and suffered together.
No matter whether this single universe becomes better or worse, Earth and Apokolips cannot hide. Then for the sake of greater interests, they can only help each other and then act in unison against the outside world. Otherwise, let alone competing for hegemony in the multiverse, I'm afraid they will be wiped out by others in a few days.
Darkseid said he wanted to invite Earth to be next to Apokolips, not because he wanted to kidnap Earth. He simply couldn't stand Batman tossing and turning on that broken planet every day: since you have the ability and the idea to compete for the multiverse, then go ahead and do it, why be a street hero?
Darkseid even envisioned an ideal state: he would cover Earth within the universe, liberate the Justice League, and let them compete for the multiverse.
Although Darkseid also wanted to go himself, he couldn't go because he didn't have a Battleworld invitation. And he also understood that his greatest reliance was the Apokolips domain, but this thing was only effective within a single universe, and after going out, his combat power might not even be comparable to Superman, so it was better to hide behind the scenes and manipulate the Justice League.
When Batman received Desaad's notification, he was sitting by the bed of Green Lantern Hal. Hal of course didn't die; that was just a play. But in order to deceive the many Lanterns, Darkseid still seriously injured him. Although he had basically recovered after the treatment of Green Lantern energy, Batman still let him lie down for a while longer.
"You damn bastard!" Green Lantern cursed.
"This is the sixth time you've cursed this today," said the main universe Batman, who was doing paperwork, without raising his head.
"But you haven't given me a reaction even once!"
"Because you're right, I am a bastard," the main universe Batman continued, and then wrote a reply on a battle report.
"At least you shouldn't have hidden it from me!" Green Lantern roared again, "Do you know how cold my heart was the moment the Green Lantern energy disappeared? I didn't even want to fight Darkseid at that time, I just wanted to die with those bastards, the Guardians of the Universe!"
"Your chance has come," the main universe Batman said, looking at the message on the communicator. "I'm afraid I have to trouble you to go to the center of Oa. There is the power of the seven lights intercepted by the Guardians of the Universe. As long as those energies are brought back, the magic defense network can be built."
"By then, Earth will have the power to protect itself, and I will be able to focus more on cosmic affairs, and even operate in the multiverse. This is good for Gotham, Earth, and our entire universe."
Green Lantern was surprised to find that he heard a hint of expectation in Batman's tone, which had never happened since the establishment of the Justice League. The anger in his heart slowly dissipated, and replacing it was the hope that gradually rose just like Batman's.
