Chapter 3944
The car stopped slowly beside an apartment building. The three walked out of the car. Schiller didn't take the sniper rifle, but took his pistol, then opened the trunk and threw the Punisher's equipment to him.
The Punisher put on the compound bow, held the rifle in his hand, and hung a dagger for close combat on his waist. He nodded at Schiller.
"The next step depends on you, Bruce." Schiller looked at Bruce and said, "Go into Dr. Pym's room and see, figure out who kidnapped him. The two of us will protect you."
Bruce also nodded and walked towards the apartment building. The Punisher followed behind him and turned to say to Schiller: "With such a helper, you're quite relaxed, right?"
"Finding him is just to do this work." Schiller followed quickly behind Bruce.
This is a relatively old apartment building located on the edge of Manhattan, so there are no security guards or property management, let alone cameras or anything. Although it was convenient for the murderer, it was also convenient for the three who came to investigate. They even took the elevator to the 18th floor.
Three households on one floor. Pym's apartment is on the east side. The door lock was equipped with a fingerprint lock. Bruce looked at it carefully for two eyes and reached out to Schiller.
Schiller took a pair of gloves out of his pocket. After Bruce put them on, he fumbled on the fingerprint lock, and I don't know where he pressed, but a keyhole suddenly appeared under the fingerprint lock.
He took a lock-picking tool out of his pocket, fumbled with the keyhole, and the lock was quickly picked. He pushed the door open and walked in, explaining: "This kind of relatively old fingerprint lock is a fake fingerprint lock. In order to prevent the electronic components inside from being damaged and causing it to be completely unable to open, a spare keyhole will be left. It's very simple to pick."
"It seems he doesn't just do reasoning." The Punisher looked at Schiller and said.
"Yes, petty theft is also his specialty."
The three walked into the apartment. As soon as they walked in, they were startled by the chaotic scene in front of them. The entire living room was crisscrossed with charred traces: there were long strip shapes like scars, dotted holes, and a large area of the floor was pried up, and the pipes underneath were all scorched.
The sofa, which should have been perpendicular to the door, was beaten to pieces. The TV fell from the wall and buckled on the ground, shattering the screen all over the floor. The chandelier smashed not far from the TV. Even the curtains were torn in half, and a window glass was shattered.
"Looks like there was a big battle here." Bruce said.
He squatted down, looked at the charred trace closest to him carefully, then stood up and looked around, stayed for four or five seconds, and shook his head: "Not Doctor Strange."
"Are these not traces left by magic?" Schiller asked.
Bruce shook his head and said: "This might be a coincidence."
The Punisher also observed the charred traces, half-squatted on the ground, supporting his knees with one hand, and said: "But these are not traces left by modern weapons. Not firearms, rocket launchers and Molotov cocktails are even more impossible. Flamethrowers are a bit suspicious, but that should be charred traces radiating outward, completely different from this."
Schiller looked at the scar-like long strips on the wall again and said: "Laser weapons?"
"Possibly similar." Bruce said, "This is a new weapon I've never seen before, although it's similar to laser weapons, it's more flexible and destructive. The marks on the wall weren't plowed by lasers, but more like being whipped out by a whip made of some kind of energy."
"And precisely because of this, it's easy to associate with magic—because a whip made of magic energy can completely leave such a shape. But this is not Doctor Strange's fighting style, and it's even further from Iron Man's."
"Perhaps he did it on purpose." The Punisher said, "The murderer won't deliberately use his own signature moves to leave traces. Perhaps he deliberately used some uncommon means to confuse the public."
"Completely wrong." Bruce said, "The biggest problem is that if it were Iron Man and Doctor Strange, there would be no need to fight at all."
The Punisher was stunned, and then he reacted: Iron Man and Doctor Strange are Dr. Pym's acquaintances; although there might have been some quarrels before, they haven't reached the point of enemies, and it's impossible to fight as soon as they meet.
And Schiller thought more. From Spider-Man's words before, it can be seen that Dr. Pym wanted to admit his mistake, which proves that he knew he was in the wrong; it is estimated that if the police came to arrest him, he wouldn't resist.
Then if Iron Man and Doctor Strange wanted to take him away, there was actually no need to use force at all; explain it to him, and then take him away. Even they didn't have to come personally; send an employee of Stark Industries and invite him to Stark Industries.
And the traces in the room were obviously left by Pym's fierce resistance—because it was hitting the wall and prying up the floor, looking like swatting flies. It's possible that Pym performed an Ant-Man transformation, and the other party had to do this to capture him.
"Energy weapons..." Schiller suddenly said, "Norton Experimental Science."
Bruce looked back at him. The two looked at each other, obviously thinking of the same thing.
The Punisher was a former Marine Corps instructor, having been in contact with almost all modern weapons, especially individual equipment. Not only were there none he hadn't seen, there were none he hadn't used, which could be called a master of modern weapons. Since he said the traces in the room were not left by modern weapons, then it definitely wasn't.
But if it wasn't modern weapons, and Doctor Strange, who knows magic, didn't need to do this, then there was only one possibility left: this is a brand-new energy weapon that hasn't been exposed.
And Norton Experimental Science has always claimed to be researching particle energy weapons. Although Spider-Man said they were doing human experiments, this thing can also be understood. The same research direction can derive different by-products; what if they really researched it?
"Looks like the arrangements made before weren't in vain." Schiller said, "How is the situation in Manhattan? Did Kingpin make a move?"
"Not yet." The Punisher said, "I haven't received news yet, I'm afraid he's still watching..."
Just as he said this, his phone rang. The Punisher looked down and raised his eyebrows: "Just in time. Kingpin made a move on Jigsaw, a friend of mine has already rushed to the scene, let's go over now."
The three got into the car again. Schiller, who was driving, turned to Bruce and said: "I'll send you back to the base first."
"No need." Bruce said, "I'll just stay in the car later, I won't run around. If you two want to take this opportunity to go to Long Island to investigate, you'll need me."
Schiller didn't refute either, just said when entering Brooklyn: "You'd better stay in the car honestly; if you go out and get shot, no one can save you."
Bruce nodded, and then a gun was thrown from the back seat. The Punisher's head appeared outside the passenger window and said to him: "Aiming and pulling the trigger, you know how, right? Good luck, kid."
Schiller and the Punisher walked into the alley. Before they even entered the street, they heard the crackling sound inside. The two's movements were completely synchronized, retreating left and right, leaning against the wall and looking up inside. Kingpin's men and Jigsaw's men were already fighting, shooting in the alley with buildings as support.
The Punisher gave Schiller a gesture, and the two quickly bypassed this alley and came to the other side. There was a back door here, it seemed someone had just run away, and it wasn't closed tightly, leaking a trace of light.
The Punisher walked up lightly and pulled the door open a little, but bumped into another pair of eyes.
"Jigsaw!" The Punisher shouted in a low voice.
The gun in his hand was already raised, but the door was originally opening outward. He pushed inside and couldn't move, but Jigsaw pushed outside and it was easy. Jigsaw, with a face full of scars, pushed the door outward abruptly, and fled from the Punisher who stumbled.
The Punisher was about to chase, but remembered Schiller was blocking there—this professional killer, it should be simple to catch someone. So he just gripped the gun in his hand and walked quickly towards that side.
But he didn't expect to see only Schiller standing at the back of the alley. He ran over and asked: "Where's Jigsaw? You let him run away?"
"He can't run." Schiller said very firmly, "Is that room his old nest?"
"Looks like it."
"Let's go, let's go over."
The Punisher grabbed him and looked at him, saying: "You're crazy, Kingpin will come soon, he always likes to kill people who provoke him with his bare hands. You're walking right into the gun barrel by going over now, aren't you?"
"Do I look like Jigsaw?"
"Uh..." The Punisher was choked, but still said, "But he didn't catch Jigsaw, maybe he'll vent his anger on you. And, aren't those subordinates of his killed by you? Aren't you afraid Kingpin will find out?"
"Since I dare to go, naturally I'm not afraid of him." Schiller said very plainly, "A little movement like this can't lure out the Manfredi family; I must make a deal with Kingpin."
After speaking, he took out his phone while walking towards the door. The Punisher had no choice but to follow behind him. When the two walked in one after another, Kingpin also happened to walk in with his suit-wearing gang thugs.
The moment he saw Schiller, Kingpin's pupils contracted, and the thugs behind him immediately raised their guns. Schiller just took off the hat on his head and said: "Nice to meet you, Mr. Kingpin. Jigsaw has already run away; I'm afraid you won't be able to vent your anger for your subordinates today."
The Punisher behind heard this and his eyes widened: No, buddy, you talk to Kingpin like this? Really not afraid he'll hit you?
The Punisher wasn't afraid of this fat guy, the key was that the other side had many people. You said you wanted to find the other side to make a deal, and you provoked them as soon as you came up, is that really okay?
"Killing you is the same, Mr. Killer." Kingpin's flesh on his face shook and said, "How much did Jigsaw pay you? When did this guy get so rich?"
"You're smart, I wasn't hired by Jigsaw. I didn't appear here to sell my life to clean up for him; I came to find you."
"Find me? You want to kill me?"
"No one bought your life. I came to talk to you about a deal—do you know the Manfredi family?"
"You mean that group of Italians?"
"That's right, although they were driven out of Manhattan by you, they have always been unwilling to give up. I can tell you very definitely that the Norton Experimental Science they invested in has created a subversive energy weapon..." Schiller pulled up a picture on his phone—that was a photo of the charred traces he took in Dr. Pym's house.
"There should be people in your subordinates who are good at modern weapons; you can let them see if this is a trace caused by any known modern weapon. Or you can ask your old rival..." Schiller turned to look at the Punisher and said, "I believe you are very clear about his attainments in the use of modern weapons. His conclusion is the same as mine."
Kingpin frowned the moment he saw those traces. Although he likes sumo and bare-handed fighting, it doesn't mean he knows nothing about modern weapons. Those irregular charred traces obviously weren't caused by rifles, and they didn't look like lasers aimed and fired; they indeed weren't traces that could be caused by known modern weapons.
"How do you prove that these things weren't faked by you?"
Schiller shook his head and said: "I don't need to prove it. Because even if they don't have it, they will have it soon. The one in the picture is Dr. Pym's house; if you haven't heard his name, you should at least know one of the founders of the Avengers—Ant-Man."
Kingpin raised his eyes to look at him abruptly. Schiller continued unhurriedly: "If the Manfredi family kidnapped Dr. Pym, what do you think they can use his wisdom to build? By that time, Manhattan, and even the entire New York, will there still be a place for you?"
