Chapter 4757
Shiler leaned against the bedside, eyes closed, as if dozing. With a "creak," the door was pushed open. A Spider-Man walked in, saying as he walked, "Heard Mr. Stark was sick, so I came to check on him. Mr. Stark, are you... oh, sorry."
Spider-Man hurriedly fell silent. He glanced at Stark on the sickbed, his face still somewhat pale, and at Shiler leaning against the bed, seemingly asleep. He placed the gift in his hand on the bedside table nearby, and prepared to leave on tiptoe.
But just then, a storm of brainwaves enveloped him. Almost in the blink of an eye, Spider-Man lost consciousness. When he woke again, he had already appeared on a spaceship, a Force lightsaber gripped in one hand, surrounded entirely by stormtroopers.
"Oh, what the hell? Did I transmigrate?"
Spider-Man subconsciously turned his head to look at the lightsaber in his hand, and without the slightest stage fright, flicked the hilt, planted his feet in a steady stance, swung the sword with both hands, and chopped. Though he had never learned swordsmanship, he had watched plenty of Star Wars, and fighting it out actually looked the part.
But the stormtroopers closing in grew more and more numerous, and Spider-Man gradually found it hard going. He just wanted to shoot a web and escape the encirclement when he saw another Spider-Man fall in.
"Mr. Stark, I came to visit you... what the hell???"
"Hey!" Spider-Man shouted at Spider-Man, "Hold your sword steady, Force warrior, let's break out together!"
After experiencing about two seconds of dizziness, the Spider-Man who had come in later also swung his sword and chopped. The two stood back-to-back, contending with many stormtroopers, not forgetting to exchange information on the current situation.
"Did Mr. Stark put an invisible teleportation portal in his room or something? We didn't pay attention, so we transmigrated?"
"How could that be? Star Wars is a film and TV work, how could we possibly transmigrate into the Star Wars universe?!"
"Oh, I forgot, but before I was ten I really thought there was an Empire in the universe."
"That's not wrong either, the Three Great Empires."
"Come on, how do the Three Great Empires compare to the Empire in Star Wars." Spider-Man fiercely chopped with his sword, forcing back stormtroopers, and continued, "You think if we kill our way in, we could see Darth Vader?"
"I think we might be too late," the other Spider-Man said, "I see a ground full of soldier corpses over there, the protagonist might have already killed his way in to find Darth Vader."
"Protagonist? Who's the protagonist?"
"Tony Stark, of course. This is his dream," Spider-Man said, "This looks like his childhood."
"Oh, right, our generation doesn't really watch Star Wars much." Spider-Man thought for a moment and said, "Is it because he's sick, his brainwaves had some problem, that pulled people into the dream?"
"Didn't you see Dr. Shiler when you came in? I feel it should be his doing. After all, fighting Star Wars in a dream is a bit too tiring, it's normal he'd want to find a few helpers."
"Then how do we help him? Kill our way in?"
"Let's try first."
The two Spider-Men gripped their Force swords and charged. Fortunately their spider abilities still worked; when they couldn't beat them they used webs to stick to the ceiling and run out, waited for the crowd to be pulled together, then dropped down and kept fighting.
But the soldiers surging over grew more and more, and the two also found it somewhat hard to sustain. Just as they were about to be drowned by the soldiers, only a "Boom" was heard, one side of the deck suddenly burst open, and a huge Tyrannosaurus rex charged in.
"Oh, God!" Spider-Man cried out in alarm.
Before the two of them could continue saying anything, Shiler grabbed one in each hand and hauled them onto the dinosaur. The two Spider-Men, one hugging the dinosaur's neck, one clutching its tail. The one in front shouted, "Doctor, what's going on!"
"How would I know! Tony dreamed Darth Vader sent people to the Jurassic to hunt him down, I'm currently trying to find where he's hiding!"
"Good heavens, he really has imagination. Then where should we go find him? What if he gets eaten by a dinosaur?"
"Just wait!" Shiler shouted, "Charles is already on the way, he should be able to stabilize Tony's mental state soon, and then we can leave these weird dreams..."
His words had just fallen when the dream shattered with a boom. Several people all regained consciousness in Stark's room. Stark also woke up.
He took a sharp breath, then let out a huge yawn, and said somewhat blankly, "Did I fall asleep? I said those fever reducers had side effects..."
"Sorry, I'm a bit late." Charles walked in from the doorway, "I had to straighten out his brainwaves first before waking him, otherwise it might have startled him."
Shiler also woke up. He straightened his body, let out a long sigh: "He slept for six hours, I just played Inception here for six hours, one dream layer after another, went through all the culture and film and TV works that left a deep impression on his childhood."
Stark was still somewhat dazed, but he quickly reacted to what Shiler was saying. He grinned, and then said, "When I'm sick, I do have lots of weird dreams, but this works too, makes up for the regret that we two didn't go on adventures together as kids, Shiler."
The two Spider-Men climbed up from the ground. The main universe Spider-Man rubbed his forehead and said: "Looks like we came at a bad time. Are you alright, sir?"
"I'm fine." Stark turned his head to glance at the gift on the bedside table, then said, "The Avengers should be busy, you have time to come visit me?"
"Not really, they said it's a good chance to use visiting you to probe Clarkia's wind direction, because right now only I can get on the island. But I purely came to see you. Knowing you're fine, I'll leave right away." The local Spider-Man said.
"Don't rush." Charles smiled at him, "Apocalypse has returned, the mutants want to hold a tournament, you want to stay and watch? After the tournament, we can also go soak in hot springs together. Have you ever soaked in a natural volcanic hot spring?"
The local Spider-Man was clearly somewhat interested. He asked curiously: "Volcanic hot spring? There's a volcano on this island too?"
"Of course, there's an active volcano in the north, not too large in scale, but it still has occasional activity, underground hot springs are also very abundant, we're planning to build a hot spring bathhouse."
"That's great," the local Spider-Man said, "I've never even soaked in a natural hot spring, that's too far and too expensive. Can I really stay?"
"Yes, but considering Clarkia Island is currently under sanctions, and relations with various countries aren't too good, I think you can call your friends to report in, to prevent them thinking we've detained you."
"Of course not," the local Spider-Man waved his hand, "Everyone knows no one would make things difficult for Spider-Man, otherwise how would they dare let me on the island. But I've never done anything for Clarkia, enjoying such hospitality would make me uneasy. Is there anything I can help with here?"
Spider-Man paused for a moment, then said somewhat embarrassedly: "I know Clarkia currently faces sanctions from many countries, especially the US, but I've never been able to get a word in on this, and the US government is unlikely to listen to me, so I'm afraid I can't help."
"No matter," Charles said, "I've never viewed the US as a monolith. You and the Avengers, or SHIELD, or other American mutants, they aren't necessarily of one mind with the government, and don't necessarily have malice toward Clarkia. We naturally won't treat you as enemies. Relax, just have fun."
Charles patted the local Spider-Man's shoulder before leaving. Spider-Man turned to look at him, watching his back for a long time without speaking.
When he also walked out the door, the main universe Spider-Man walked over and said: "Although we can't influence the Earth government of this universe, just like you said, no one would make things difficult for Spider-Man. Perhaps we can precisely use this point to eliminate disputes and create peace."
The local Spider-Man nodded thoughtfully.
The main universe Spider-Man returned to the room where the main universe Avengers were. Main universe Iron Man asked: "How is it? Is he really sick?"
Spider-Man nodded and said: "Looks like he just broke his fever. You shouldn't be careless either, Captain has already gone to ask how to resolve it, if there's a way, you'd best use it fast."
"Really strange," main universe Iron Man had none of his previous smug satisfaction, he clearly was also somewhat worried, "That guy embedded the Ark Reactor in his chest for so long, proving he's not an ordinary person either, how did he get this sick?"
"If it were normal times, I wouldn't be this worried," Black Widow said, "But we just fought a battle, you're also injured, if the rejection from this island erupts together with that, you definitely won't just have a little cold."
"Still that sentence," Spider-Man sat down, looking at main universe Iron Man, "Right now doing anything isn't as safe as directly withdrawing."
Main universe Iron Man seemed to think very seriously for a moment, then shook his head and said: "No, doing things must have a beginning and an end, can't give up halfway."
"Although the solar system is already safe, and fighting on Earth probably can't start anymore, just afraid of the off chance. You all saw it too, the current situation is very delicate, any little abnormality could possibly... cough cough cough cough..."
Main universe Iron Man suddenly coughed violently, everyone crowded around. He had been fine just now when speaking, after coughing his face flushed red, and his voice was a bit hoarse.
At this moment Captain America walked in, and said: "Their solution is to use the Clarkia Flower, but this needs to be tested on that group of scientists first, afraid it still needs observation... what's wrong with you? Tony?"
Main universe Iron Man stood up, armor flew in from outside the window. After putting on the armor he still didn't stop coughing, coughing as he said: "Cough cough cough... I feel I might be a bit... cough cough cough..."
Captain America decided decisively: "Stephen, can't let him stay on the island any longer! You take him away immediately, go to the mainland or the moon, either works!"
Doctor Strange's movements paused slightly, Captain America's icy gaze swept over: "Now is not the time to resolve your private grievances, this is an order!"
With a "whoosh," a portal opened. Doctor Strange took main universe Iron Man and left. Black Widow let out a long sigh: "Those two finally left, we can have a real war council now."
"Gather the personnel, prepare for a meeting," the Main Universe Captain America said. "Using sanctions to drive Clarkia's mutants insane benefits no one; we need to find a way to mediate from the middle."
