Chapter 4845
The figure standing in front of the door turned slightly, and the light in her eyes still flickered with an inexplicable glow. When she saw Wanda, she seemed surprised, and Wanda had already lunged forward, throwing herself into her embrace.
Whether Wanda had become a mother or not, she was generally a steady person, but now she acted like a little girl, throwing herself into her teacher's arms and hugging her tightly.
"Long time no see, Teacher Hanix." Wanda hugged her teacher tightly, then said, "How have you been lately?"
"Alright, Wanda." Hanix patted Wanda's arm, signaling her to let go, "You're not a little girl anymore. First, tell me why you've come here."
Hanix's gaze swept past her, looking at the few people behind Wanda. Wanda turned to glance at her companions, then said, "We came to find a ghost named Sara."
"How did you get involved with her?" Hanix was clearly not someone who spoke in half-measures; she directly stated her connection with Sara and Hampton in the simplest terms.
"I needed money to keep Salem running, and someone here was willing to pay. But on my first night here, I heard this poor girl's cries and learned the true evil of South Fork from her. So I swindled this group out of their money."
"So you really didn't solve Hampton's problem." Arrogance stepped out from the shadows. Up close, Hanix's face became clearer: a middle-aged woman with a stern countenance, some weathering and white hair adding to her charm. Most striking were her slightly wrinkled eyes, which seemed to comprehend all worldly philosophies, giving her an air of ancient sages.
Unlike Wanda's image of Hanix, she appeared neither passionate nor aggressive, but rather calm and profound, making it impossible to read her thoughts, yet one could feel beneath this tranquil exterior lay accumulated, awe-inspiring power.
Steve had only seen such a demeanor on one person before: the former Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One. Even compared to Stephen Strange, they were forceful but lacked vitality.
Hanix made no secret of her past actions, she did not over-describe how bad the people here were, and openly used the word "deception." It didn't sound like she was testing them, but rather like she was viewing everything from a higher vantage point. This made her seem even more like the Ancient One.
"So you knew back then." Wanda said, "But why didn't you take Sara with you then? By Salem's standards, she's also a witch."
Hanix turned to look at her student and said, "Of course, because I couldn't take this soul filled with obsession until the crown woven from Christ's crown brought retribution upon all sins."
Wanda had a moment of realization. Just then, she saw a semi-transparent shadow float up from the cellar. The shadow was blurry, no details visible, even like an illusion, and it vanished in a flash, unknown where it went.
Blake, however, seemed to have seen something, shouting: "Sara! Sara! Wait for me!"
He ran off in an unknown direction. Greed looked that way, then said, "Hurry and follow him."
Everyone followed Blake behind. He ran all the way out of the mall, then along the road outside it for a long distance until reaching a park. Now others couldn't see that phantom, but Blake stared straight at the park fountain's direction.
"What are you going to do? How can I help you?" Blake looked at her, as if somewhat losing his reason, "I will help you. I will help you..."
Steve thought Blake was hallucinating and stepped forward to calm him, but Arrogance grabbed him and said, "The infant part within him has awakened, rapidly growing. He is destined to be reborn by his mother, to free himself from the identity of sin's incarnation, and become a true human."
Steve was about to ask something when he saw Blake kneeling painfully on the ground, then collapsing. He wanted to step forward but feared delaying things, so he turned to look at Hanix, hoping this seemingly venerable witch could do something.
Hanix seemed to have anticipated this: "So her obsession wasn't revenge; she was waiting for her child."
She paused, then murmured to herself: "Then was the massacre back then really carried out by someone else?"
Arrogance seemed to see what she was thinking and said, "The people of Violet Resort were killed by the aftermath of Blake's birth. That was not Sara's wish; she too was a victim."
"I see." Hanix sighed softly, "No wonder I felt no resentment or hatred from her; she didn't want to destroy this region's people, only to wait for her child's return."
Just then, a fierce wind sprang up. Hampton seemed to have stirred up a storm. Those without mystical talent could only hear the wind. But to those who could directly perceive magical power, the region's supernatural force was continuously swirling and converging, with the vortex's center exactly this park.
Stark's eyes flashed with magical light as he said, "The supernatural force of the material world is condensing; what will be born?"
An indigo phantom was gradually solidifying—a young girl with a lovely face, appearing no older than eighteen. Steve immediately recognized her as the maid-uniformed girl he had seen in the Rodriguez estate's mirror. So she is Sara?
"She is absorbing the supernatural force." Stark said, "Will she become a powerful ghost? Or..."
"A witch." Hanix said, "Just like Wanda. They are both constituted by some special power."
The converging energy grew more and more, also more violent. Now even ordinary people unfamiliar with magic could feel some danger approaching. The wind reached typhoon force, and Natasha had to raise both arms to brace against it.
"Meditate with me! Sara!" Hanix stood like a immovable divine needle in the storm, "I will teach you how to control your power! Don't fight it, become it..."
Meanwhile, Wanda enveloped the others in scarlet power, shielding them from such violent ravages. Hanix flew up, using her power to guide these uncontrollable supernatural forces. Wanda watched her back and said, "This reminds me of the months my teacher taught me. She too faced chaos magic head-on and ultimately helped me control this great power."
"Wandering in chaos magic? Won't that be a bit too strong?" Coulson marveled.
"The teacher has an unimaginable affinity for all energies; she can even harmonize several violent forces and use them perfectly for herself. She is the most powerful witch in this world."
If the Scarlet Witch is born powerful, then Hanix equals divinity with a mortal body. No one here could imagine how to help Wanda control her mutant abilities—not even the Great Shadow Magic would dare guarantee it, but Hanix did.
As the wind gradually weakened and the power subsided, Blake, lying painfully on the ground, emitted a glow. Sara, already nearly solidified and emitting a faint blue light from her body, descended from mid-air, walked over, and gently embraced Blake. When the light faded, what appeared in her arms was not the black-haired adult male, but an infant.
Sara looked at him with loving eyes, gently stroking his cheek. The infant's sharp cry should have sounded piercing, but suddenly the breaking daylight made it sound like spring thunder at the moment of all things reviving.
The pallid clouds and mist that always hung over Hampton finally cracked open. Dawn light poured down, shining on the infant, as if weaving him a swaddling cloth.
"Jesus is born." Stark marveled. This was no joke; the scene truly resembled Jesus' birth. Especially knowing Hampton's ancient name was Christ's Crown, it felt even more fated.
"It's becoming more like a movie." Greed marveled.
"Except the protagonists aren't us, but ghosts, demons, and witches." Arrogance added.
After everything settled, everyone returned to the manor, including Sara holding the child and Hanix. Hanix was telling everyone about the turmoil in New Salem.
"Nicholas wasn't the key." Hanix's tone was somewhat low, "The key was the New Salem nobility centered on him, who occupied too many resources of that barren land. Many lower-class witches could no longer endure it."
"His seven wives, the Salem Seven he fathered, and all related personnel formed an interest group that plundered the already meager resources. The lower classes couldn't even guarantee basic livelihood, and knew they couldn't resist with their own strength. So they called out to me."
"After I returned to New Salem, Nicholas and the Salem Seven set a trap, trying to burn me alive. But they weren't my match. I drove Nicholas out of the city, pursued him all the way here. He should have already fallen into the Sorcerer Supreme's hands, right?"
"Wait a moment." Stark obviously had held back for a long time before interrupting, "Seven wives? He married seven wives?"
"He is the king of New Salem." Hanix seemed unsure how to put it, "Since ancient times, emperors could take many wives."
Everyone was somewhat speechless—a poor town on the Colorado Plateau with only a few hundred residents actually had an emperor. This emperor actually had the face to maintain three palaces and six courtyards, and even fathered seven children!
This left the modern Avengers momentarily unsure how to judge. But Hanix said, "My bloodline has special power. Nicholas and the Salem Seven he fathered also possess great power."
"They're all superhumans?" Steve asked incredulously.
Hanix nodded and said, "Yes, my power can be transmitted through bloodline."
"Good heavens, if you knew this, you should have been cautious." Stark said, "This guy wants to build a supervillain army from his own descendants!"
Others also looked grave. Even mutants can't guarantee their children are all mutants, but Hanix's power can spread via mother-to-child transmission, and not just one generation. If this continues, a new ethnic group will inevitably emerge among humans.
Worse still, the source of this group, Nicholas, is clearly no good person. If he hides away, keeps breeding, and then one day leads this superhuman army out to cause chaos, it will surely cause a great disturbance.
