Chapter 501: Who Made the Moon God Want to Kill? (Part 2)

~4 min read 638 words

"The word 'inaction' isn't very accurate," Schiller replied.

He opened his mouth slightly, a look of hesitation appearing on his face, as if he didn't know how to express himself. He said, "I know you hope I can provide some evidence so you can pin the blame for this matter on S. H. I. E. L. D."

"After all, Russian spies fall within your jurisdiction, while Hydra falls within S. H. I. E. L. D.'s. When the KGB successfully rose to power using Hydra and exposed all of this to mock you, both sides wanted to accuse the other of incompetence."

Marc narrowed his eyes and asked, "So, Nick Fury did indeed..."

Schiller first shook his head, then nodded, then shook his head again, and finally said nothing at all.

Afterward, no matter how much Marc questioned him, Schiller remained silent. Marc understood that he had likely hit upon the key.

Consequently, he became even more desperate to get an answer, repeating his questions or looking for other opportunities to make Schiller speak.

Schiller remained silent for a while, until Marc's patience was almost completely exhausted. He finally spoke again and asked, "Aren't you a CIA investigator? Interrogation shouldn't be your job. Why are you pestering me here?"

Marc crossed his arms and stood in front of Schiller, seemingly hesitating whether to answer this question.

During an interrogation, blind refusal and pressure are not entirely good things. Appropriate compliance and answering can help make the interrogated person speak. Therefore, agents often use the answers to unimportant questions to encourage the interrogated person to speak more until they leak their own intelligence.

"I was originally a field agent, but due to S. H. I. E. L. D.'s operational error, the United States' international reputation was damaged, and the CIA has also been under great pressure because of it. So, I was ordered to investigate this matter with full force."

Before Marc said these words, he confirmed that he hadn't revealed any important information, but Schiller had obtained the intelligence he wanted from it.

Marc Spector, a CIA agent, and also the Marvel superhero Moon Knight.

In the comic book plot, after Marc left the CIA, he became a mercenary and was killed while on a mission to Egypt. Afterward, he was resurrected by the Moon God Khonshu, becoming the Moon God's agent on Earth, also known as Moon Knight.

This superhero's backstory leans more toward the mystical, but what's more interesting is his other persona: he is a patient with Dissociative Identity Disorder, also known as multiple personality disorder.

In the comics, he possesses three personalities: mercenary, millionaire, and taxi driver. In the television adaptation, these changed to mercenary, timid museum employee, and an unidentified third personality, and this third personality's name is also Jake.

Currently, Marc's mental state is still relatively stable. Although Schiller used many methods to provoke his extreme emotions, he did not lose control because of it, and the so-called Moon God Khonshu was nowhere to be seen.

If following the comic book timeline, Marc, who has not yet resigned from the CIA, should not have gone to Egypt to carry out mercenary missions yet. That is to say, he might not have met the Moon God Khonshu and has not become Moon Knight.

Schiller sighed, feeling a bit disappointed.

Originally, his plan was to force the Moon God Khonshu out by stimulating Marc's emotions, and then drag him over to be a monster for the Avengers to fight.

If it were the Moon God Khonshu from the comics, he would be purely a villain, and getting beaten up would be deserved. The Khonshu in the TV series has signs of being redeemed, but he is powerful, so getting beaten up doesn't matter. Regardless of which version of Khonshu it is, he is definitely a cosmic deity, and getting beaten up is already getting off lightly. ===== CHAPTER 502 =====
