Chapter 592: Adventures in Cat City Gotham (Part 2)
Gotham, a city that is very chaotic no matter where it appears. However, this chaos gave the few cats who were not native residents a chance to sneak in.
After entering the city, the few cats represented by Batman discovered that their speculation at the time was correct. There was technology here more advanced than the real Gotham. The cat-used car hovercrafts seen everywhere, the cameras floating in the air, and the automatic weapons fixed on the walls all made the few cats who had just entered the city overwhelmed.
Among them, the black cat with blue eyes walking on the side of the team fell into thought, clearly having some interest in this urban layout. Constantine was focusing on observing the street environment here. Clearly, even after turning into a cat, he had more interest in certain neighborhoods. Victor was more focused on the mission. Suddenly, he let out a sound, then extended a paw and pointed ahead, saying, "Look, what is that?"
The orange cat leading the way immediately raised his head in vigilance. His super vision penetrated the fog and saw the huge tower hidden behind the mist. At this moment, Batman had already stepped on the sunshade and eaves, jumping to the top of a building in two or three moves.
Looking far into the distance, he saw that familiar Tower of Babel, so the few cats all scurried to the roof, wanting to get over there quickly and then take Schiller away.
But just at this moment, a riot suddenly broke out in the distance. The orange cat leading the way immediately turned his head to look over and said, "Oh no! It seems like someone is robbing over there. No, I have to go over and see!"
As he spoke, he tensed his body, exerted force, and jumped onto the eaves of the opposite building. Relying on his sharp claws, he grabbed the edge of the eaves, and then with a push, jumped onto the roof. He just wanted to fly up when he saw a camera nearby. Clark hesitated for a moment but continued to run over there.
Constantine called him, but Clark ignored him completely. Batman knew Clark's personality, so he didn't say anything and followed. Victor and Constantine also had to follow behind him.
Arriving at the crime scene, Clark saw that this wasn't just a robbery case. There was a cat corpse lying at the entrance of the bank. Clark's super vision allowed him to see every detail of the crime scene.
The cat's posture looked a bit strange. It was soaked all over, and its fur was completely soaked with water. It looked like it had drowned, but it wasn't raining now, and there were no ponds or puddles nearby. A cat that looked like it had been drowned was just lying in the middle of the dry road.
Beside it were many police cats, some setting up cordon lines, some checking the corpse, and others recording on the side. Six or seven police cars were parked beside the corpse. Suddenly, Clark's gaze focused on a cat beside the police car.
This cat had a special ring on its tail, which looked like proof of identity, and the equipment on its body was more advanced than that of other cats. It was a pure white long-haired cat. In Gotham's gloomy weather, it was so white it looked like it was glowing.
The Batman cat stepped forward. The moment he saw the corpse, he flashed his claws with a "shing," but quickly retracted them. He stood on the roof looking at the scene below, speculating about the current situation.
But just when the few cats didn't intend to act rashly, an alarm sounded. The cameras floating in the air emitted a sharp alarm. Instantly, all the police cats looked up at the roof where the few cats were.
That white cat gave an order, and all weapons aimed at this place. The moment the laser fired, Clark's field was activated, and all bullets and lasers stalled in mid-air. The Batman cat turned his head and flicked his tail, saying, "Go!"
The few cats jumped between the roofs at high speed. Countless cameras and flying automatic weapons fired bullets continuously. Clark turned his head from time to time to counterattack with heat vision, and soon, their faces were printed on wanted posters.
With a "slap," the photo of Clark firing heat vision from his eyes was pinned to a felt board. Besides that, there were other photos connected by several pieces of yarn, which were clearly Batman and the others—the black cat with blue eyes, the golden cat, and the blue cat.
In front of the felt board, a black cat slowly retreated. The eyes he was staring at the photos with were also azure blue.
And on the cat bed sofa behind him, another black cat was lying. That black cat opened his eyes slightly. His pupils were gray, as if there was a mass of unclear mist.
"You said that as long as I adjusted the patrol route of the drones according to what you said, there would be no more criminals who could commit crimes, nor would there be any more chaos." The black cat with blue eyes turned his head and looked at the black cat with gray eyes. He continued, "Professor Schiller, what is going on now?"
Schiller the cat, lying on the cat bed sofa, stretched unhurriedly, stood up from the sofa, hooked his claws into the carpet, and started scratching the carpet. While scratching, he said, "Don't be nervous. You are still the Batman cat who rules this city. No one can escape your eyes."
"Discovering crime is the most important link. Now the entire city is under your surveillance. What are you still afraid of?"
"I just don't want any more criminals to be able to commit crimes." The black cat known as the Batman cat said. He opened his mouth and said, "This is not enough, Professor Schiller. You told me before that you have a way to end all evil, and adjusting the patrol route was just the first step. Then next, you should tell me the second step. Don't forget our deal."
"How did that poor bank president die, and what's going on with those strange foreign cats? Don't you want to know?" Schiller asked.
"I have already issued a wanted poster for them." The black cat moved his paws and came to the floor-to-ceiling window. The Batman cat's pupils stared at this city. Those constantly floating cameras were like his eyes, monitoring every corner here. He said, "I can see every cat here clearly. No criminal can escape from here."
"Yes, Batman cat. Your cause of revenge is almost complete. Gotham is about to become the safest city in the world. No criminal will dare to commit crimes here." Schiller the cat also walked over, but he didn't stand side by side with the Batman cat, but stood behind him.
"Since that's the case, why don't you treat this murder case that happened in front of the bank as the last darkness before dawn? Only after experiencing darkness does the light appear more precious, doesn't it?"
The Batman cat turned around, looked into Schiller the cat's eyes, and said, "You have a point. From now on, whenever I enjoy the joy of success, I will miss this last crime. Since that's the case, I will go and catch this criminal myself. I will put it in the Batcave and let it become a souvenir for me to cherish the darkness."
As he spoke, he turned and left the room. Schiller walked back to the cat bed sofa, lay down, turned over, scratched the edge of the sofa with his claws, raised his eyes, glanced at the cameras around the room, and then, as if he hadn't noticed anything, curled up his body and went to sleep.
(Author's note: yawenba)
Meanwhile, the Cat Squad led by Batman was fleeing frantically in Gotham City. The ubiquitous cameras and automatic weapons forced them to have nowhere to hide.
And it seemed that someone had noticed they wanted to approach the tower in the center of the city, so all weapons were driving them further and further away from the city center.
"No! We can't go on like this!" Clark shouted, "I can take out those weapons, let's just rush over!"
"You'd better not do that." Constantine shouted at him while jumping, "Do you want to replicate the explosion from last time? Once you call upon too much power, the dream won't be able to bear it and will shatter, and Schiller's soul will also be in danger."
Batman stopped at the edge of a high building. The night wind blew his fur, making it flutter constantly. Those sharp eyes scanned the surroundings and then stopped on a manhole cover.
"Enter the sewer." He said, "The person monitoring this city can't possibly monitor all sewers perfectly. We have to find a place to hide first."
As he spoke, he jumped down, twisted his body in the air to dodge the incoming bullets, and then landed on the sunshade with a "bang." When Constantine and Victor jumped down, they were almost hit by bullets, but Clark protected them with a field.
The few cats scurried quickly to the vicinity of that manhole cover. Batman raised a paw, and sharp claws popped out from the meat pad with a "shing." He extended his claws, hooked the edge of the sewer, exerted a little force, and with a "bang," the manhole cover was pried open.
The few cats jumped into it instantly. Clark brought up the rear, covered the manhole cover, and twisted it to ensure the exterior returned to its original state.
There were also some cameras in the sewer, but just as Batman had expected, only the tops of the wider main waterways had cameras. Those detailed ramps were all blank, with neither cameras nor weapons.
"What's going on? Who controls this city?" Victor said while shaking his paws with some disgust, wiping the water he had just touched onto the wall.
"I don't know." Batman answered, but Constantine glanced at him, clearly having a guess in his heart. He said obliquely, "Gotham has some occult attributes that we don't know about. This city has too many secrets. Perhaps no matter which city it is, there must be a root of chaos here."
He spoke too obscurely, so much so that Victor and Clark didn't really understand. Victor said, "I only know that we can't go on fleeing like this. We must find a way to fight back to find where Schiller is."
"I just observed. The internal structure of those floating cameras and automatic weapons shot down by Clark isn't too complicated. I should be able to crack them, and I can also use their broken materials to manufacture weapons."
"Can you make a freeze gun?" Batman turned and asked.
"Yes, but it's very troublesome. All chemical raw materials have to be manufactured by ourselves. If we want to do it, we must have a base, and we must ensure safety. We can't be disturbed during the experiment, otherwise, we might fall short of success."
"Then build a base here." Batman said quickly, "The vehicles on the ground have parts I can use. I can assemble equipment that can be used by cats here."
"Fine, you guys are amazing." Constantine flicked his tail and said, "Later I'll try to see if the demon summoning ritual works here. If it works, that's best. If not, I'll try some simple magic."
Just as the few of them were walking forward along a ramp, suddenly, Clark stopped. His ears moved, and then he said, "No, there are footsteps ahead. Someone... ah, no, there's a cat coming."
The few of them immediately adjusted their formation to prepare to deal with it. A cat's figure appeared at the corner. The light falling from the cracks in the manhole cover above shone on the black shadow, making its shadow on the wall look particularly terrifying.
Soon, that figure appeared in front of the few cats. Constantine exclaimed first, "What the hell is this?!"
That cat was also startled. It let out a low roar, arched its body, and took a few steps back. The fur on its tail all exploded.
It was no wonder Constantine was surprised, because the cat in front of him looked like a monster. It didn't just have cat characteristics; its claws, skin, and size were more like a crocodile. ===== CHAPTER 593 =====
