Chapter 6: Jarvis Exploded

~10 min read 1,857 words

Shiler discovered that he could transmigrate between the Marvel and DC worlds during deep sleep. Currently, he had no way to copy this ability.

But fortunately, when he went to Marvel, time in DC didn't move. His experience in the Marvel world was more like a dream.

And when he transmigrated back to Marvel again, he found that time in the Marvel world was flowing. He stayed in DC for a day and a night, so a day and a night had passed in Marvel.

This was a bit troublesome, Shiler thought. He was afraid he had missed work for a day yesterday.

This couldn't go on. Even if Shiler didn't have the constitution to transmigrate, the chaos that happened every few days in New York City in Marvel meant he couldn't work from nine to five. Moreover, the Presbyterian psychiatry department was very busy, and the number of people requesting psychological consultation was ridiculously high.

Just as Shiler was planning to resign, he suddenly received a chat from Charles: "Is the child you guided doing well now?"

"No, not only is he not doing well, he even fell from upstairs," Shiler replied.

Obviously, Bruce's Batman journey hadn't started so smoothly. Charles was obviously shocked. He said: "That child jumped off a building? Why? Didn't your psychological counseling work?"

"He had some accidents, but the injuries weren't serious. I'm trying to find a way to solve this problem. I recently encountered two similar cases. They have an obsession with the past that they can't let go of at all, except one chose revenge, and the other is still avoiding..."

In a sense, Iron Man and Batman were somewhat similar. Both were billionaires, both were "playboys," both researched equipment to become superheroes, and what was more similar was that they both had an obsession with their past that they couldn't let go of.

And this obsession was the death of their parents.

Perhaps Iron Man's was less obvious, but his feelings for his father were even more complex than Batman's.

"Are you a pediatrician? Responsible for counseling children's psychology? Or which hospital do you work at?" Charles asked.

"No, I am a psychiatrist, a psychologist. These are all cases I study."

"I think that in addition to your research, you should give them more care, whether they are your patients or not. I have always believed that if a person has talent in a certain aspect, they should use this talent to make the world a better place..."

Shiler sighed and didn't reply to Charles. The social problem of mutants was too heavy to solve. From a sociological point of view, this was an unsolvable dead end.

Shiler, who had been thinking for a long time, felt very bad, so he decided to go bother Stark.

He called Pepper and said: "Ms. Pepper, I think yesterday's treatment has had some effect..."

"Mr. Shiler! I really don't know how to thank you... Tony finally didn't stay in the room today. He went to the lab! Thank God... I always felt it wasn't good for him to stay in the lab, but I'm so happy now..."

Pepper on the other side was obviously a bit excited. This strong woman couldn't help herself whenever she mentioned Tony. Shiler comforted her and said: "I think I should go again today to consolidate yesterday's treatment results in time."

The special car from Stark Industries arrived downstairs at Shiler's apartment in a few minutes. After Shiler got in the car, he found it was an advanced driverless one. The car's control panel made a sound: "Hello, Mr. Shiler, I am Jarvis."

"Hello, Jarvis."

Jarvis didn't seem to have been responded to like this before. Then Shiler asked: "Do you understand the concept of 'I'?"

"If you are referring to the concept of 'Id' in psychology, then I think I understand it," Jarvis said.

Jarvis didn't seem so intelligent now. After all, Tony hadn't fully walked out of his predicament and hadn't upgraded this intelligent butler. Shiler asked again: "Do you have an 'Id'?"

"I think I have."

"Did Stark create this concept for you?"

"I think so, sir."

"Then he is your father and creator. He created personality and feelings for you, hoping you would have the ability to think independently like a human, right?"

"Perhaps."

"Then if one day, Stark is dying, and one of your decisions can save your master, but he himself strongly opposes it, what will you do?"

Jarvis was silent for a while and said: "I am an intelligent life created by Mr. Stark. Everything is based on Mr. Stark's orders as the highest standard."

"If you followed orders and didn't save him, and he died, would you regret it?"

Jarvis was silent for a longer time and said: "I'm not sure. I cannot assume such a future."

"If he died, do you think he would regret creating you before he died?"

"If he died, do you think he would resent you?"

"If he resented you, would you blame yourself?"

"If you were given another chance to start over, would you make a different choice?"

"If you disobeyed Stark's orders and chose to save him, and he blamed you afterward, would you feel resentful?"

"If you disobeyed Stark's orders and saved him, but he wanted to destroy you because you disobeyed orders, would you resent him?"

The carriage was silent. After a while, there was a buzzing current sound and Stark's somewhat collapsing voice: "... Hello?! Hello!! Damn it! Jarvis, what's wrong with you!"

"What the hell did you do to my intelligent butler!!! Why did he crash! Hello???"

Shiler felt refreshed. Sure enough, others were unhappy, so he felt much better.

After a while, he arrived at Stark Tower. Shiler didn't go to Stark's office but was led directly to the lab. Stark looked like he hadn't slept for several nights, in a sorry state, and was currently grabbing his hair while holding a computer.

"Oh! Isn't this our genius psychologist Mr. Shiler?! I should really win a Pulitzer Prize for the interview you just did in the car! You fucking asked a series of ghost questions that made my intelligent butler crash when I needed intelligent calculation data!!!!" Stark roared.

"You're welcome. The psychological consultation for electronic life is on the house, no charge," Shiler spread his hands and said.

Stark took a deep breath. He stood up and shouted: "Mark 2!"

A set of silver armor flew over instantly, and a mechanical clanking sound rang out, completing the arming almost instantly. Iron Man hovered in mid-air, showing off his silver Mark 2 armor. Obviously, he hadn't been busy for nothing these past few days.

"Mr. Stark, we are here for psychological treatment, not boxing or fighting. You don't have to wear such thick clothes to talk to me."

"Hey, didn't you see what I'm wearing?"

"Yes, I saw it. I'm not blind."

"An epoch-making armor appears in front of you, can't you give some reaction?! Do you know what this armor means?"

Shiler found a table to sit down on his own, opened his medical record book, and said: "I know, Mr. Stark. You have made long-term progress in technology, which is gratifying. But I find the hovering function of this armor familiar. It seems to have the same effect as the hovering car once launched by Howard Automobile Company..."

"Shut up! Don't mention that name!"

Stark's armor mask rose, and he landed on the ground. Shiler wrote while saying: "Can we start today's treatment?"

"You know I don't need any bullshit psychological treatment. And, because you broke my Jarvis, the loss will be deducted from your consultation fee today, exactly two million dollars. Let's talk about something else for the next two hours."

"Jarvis wasn't broken by me. I just told you the danger of electronic life in advance," Shiler said.

"Are you that kind of extreme conservative? Thinking artificial intelligence will destroy the world?" Stark sat opposite him and asked.

Shiler shook his head and said: "Although my psychological consultation for electronic life is free now, it's only free this once. If you need me to conduct psychological analysis for electronic life in the future, the consultation fee is two million dollars an hour."

"Damn vampire doctor," Stark said.

"This is the American medical system," Shiler said.

Anyway, when Ultron comes out, Stark will still have to find him.

"Okay, let's talk about business. Where did you find out about my father..."

"Actually, I don't know, but all of this can be deduced. First, the fact that you are dying is almost written on your face. It's hard for me not to see it."

Iron Man touched his face, and the armor mask closed with a click.

"Ms. Pepper didn't tell me much about the details of your kidnapping, but in short, you invented something very powerful and ran out."

"You can still walk, which means you shouldn't have been physically beaten into serious injury. I'm not interested in understanding your strange technology, but I know that if you want to run out of the kidnappers alone, you must use some special means."

"Combined with your shitty complexion, I'm afraid this means brought you to today's situation."

"In short, if you don't stop, you will die."

"You have long known who you can ask for help, but you are just unwilling to face it. Combined with some news about the death of the founder of Stark Industries back then, I am sure your childhood probably had some psychological trauma."

"Since that's the case, of course I will give advice that a psychiatrist should give, which is to face the past, such as looking for your father's relics, trying to reconcile with childhood trauma, etc. This at least helps you think rationally..."

"Nonsense," Stark concluded.

Shiler spread his hands. He was indeed talking nonsense. Because he was a transmigrator, a spoiler, he knew the plot almost entirely, so he was right no matter how he said it.

After several days of searching and observation, Shiler felt that this should be a mixture of the 616 main comic universe, the TRN688 Sony universe, and the MCU movie universe. It wasn't clear how they were mixed, but it shouldn't be a movie universe with only one parallel earth.

Because even if Peter's life trajectory was changed by Shiler, he was still bitten, which proved that there must be spider totems here, which meant there must be other parallel earths, so it wasn't just a simple MCU universe. That pile of parallel earths, whatever Inheritors, Exiles, Spider-Gwen's earth, all still existed.

The Sony universe was also easy to deduce. You could go online and know that mutants existed, while the pure MCU didn't contain mutants.

In short, Shiler treated this as a brand-new mixed Marvel universe. But no matter how it was mixed, Iron Man's transformation was an important node in the entire universe, and his background story was roughly the same. Anyway, it was just the difference in whether the armor was built in Vietnam or Afghanistan, or whether Howard was his biological father. ===== CHAPTER 7 =====
