Chapter 662: Victim in Good Condition (Part 1)
Gotham, still a morning neither warm nor bright, the coffee machine gurgled "gulu gulu," a hand held a cup beneath it, waiting until the steaming coffee flowed in; Shi Ler sat down in his chair with the cup, letting out a long breath.
"Ding ling…" the bell on the table by the door rang; the guard placed the newspaper delivered by the paperboy on the table and left; just as Shi Ler stood up to fetch it, his female colleague Anna rushed in, carrying her bag.
"Oh, you're back from vacation?" Anna sized up Shi Ler and said, "You look much better—vacations make you younger, right?"
"Better to say, life outside Gotham makes you younger—sunlight always helps." Shi Ler took the newspaper and sat back down, unfolding it and reading with evident enjoyment.
Anna set down her bag, picked up another newspaper, frowned as she flipped through it, and said, "The headlines lately are either Moscow or Mexico—damn it, can't anyone talk about something more down-to-earth?"
Before Shi Ler could answer, Anna went on herself: "Our Central Intelligence Bureau is really stupid—had to strike the day he took office. Now look, they're getting flamed, they deserve it."
Anna angrily tossed the newspaper onto the table and said, "Don't think I don't know—agents tried sneaking into Gotham University to install cameras. What the hell do they think this place is?"
