Chapter 740: My Head Is Buzzing (Part 2)

~7 min read 1,367 words

The concept of Marvel's five primordial deities has been explained many times, but perhaps many don't know they have a hierarchy.

In terms of power, Eternity is the strongest, but in terms of rank, he is the lowest, while Death is his elder sister.

In fact, Eternity has a lifespan too; every universe eventually ends, and at the very end of cosmic destruction, Death awaits Eternity there to awaken his endless memories of immortality.

Compared to others, Eternity and Death share the closest bond, which is why Eternity had always been protective of Death—even when she created a mess, he quietly cleaned it up without much complaint, and even when Death dated constantly and slacked off, he rarely interfered.

This time, Death approached Eternity, presenting herself as a victim of harassment.

According to Death herself, that guy Thanos had been calling her nonstop before, and she ignored him completely—but now he'd grown bolder, even daring to show up at her door.

When Death refused to open the door, Thanos blocked it outside, knocking incessantly, fully aware she already had a legitimate boyfriend, yet still pestering her relentlessly.

Watching his sister cry, Eternity grew angry; regardless of work, they were family—anyone would be furious if they found their sister being harassed.

Eternity glanced along the timeline and confirmed: Thanos truly was a harasser.

Death refused him entry into the Realm of Death, so he spent every day whispering her name into thin air—not just a sycophant, but a stalker, constantly shouting about creating more death for Death.

This time, he went even further: within just a few hours, he showed up dozens of times. Eternity grew angrier by the moment—kid, you dare harass the Five Primordial Deities, the very pillars of the universe? You've got guts.

But Eternity was a rigid, traditional personality; he disliked favoring kin and would never break his principles for Death—he was the type who valued rules above all else.

Even when Shiler enraged him to the brink, he only threatened to erase him when he could no longer tolerate it—and while Thanos's actions were vile, they hadn't yet reached the level of warranting erasure.

But if he didn't erase Thanos, the man would never give up—he'd keep harassing Death, and Death would keep coming to bother Eternity.

Eternity's work was already overwhelming; he didn't want to spend his days comforting his sister, so he devised a permanent solution.

Eternity severed Thanos and his entire Dark Dimension from the universe, carving it out as an independent dimension.

Then he hurled that dimension beyond the multiverse, turning it into a pendant hanging outside the multiverse's edge—just as OAA had done to this multiverse.

Eternity knew well that crossing the cosmic barrier was extremely difficult—even he had to travel vast distances each time he returned for meetings, and for ordinary beings within a universe, crossing the barrier was unthinkable.

By kicking Thanos and his domain out of the multiverse, he'd need to cross the cosmic barrier to return and see Death—and as things stood, Thanos had no such ability.

It was like a thug constantly harassing your family—so you simply kicked him out of the city, even out of the country, so he couldn't return easily and thus couldn't harass them anymore.

When the members of the Luminous Alliance discovered Thanos was gone, they assumed he'd activated some escape method. Shiler never intended to kill Thanos, so he didn't care; the others only cared whether the Solar System would be invaded. Since Thanos was gone, the Solar System was temporarily safe, so none of them pursued.

But Loki, who had been lurking near the Dark Dimension, watched with her own eyes as the dimension was carved out and hurled away.

Seeing the duck slip from her grasp, Loki naturally refused to accept it—she immediately activated her halo, ascending beyond the single universe, chasing the Dark Dimension until she saw the tiny fragment of dimension stick to the multiverse's barrier with a *thud*.

Loki, the Luminous Goddess, held a multiversal rank, but possessed only the title and no offensive power—this divine role granted her ultimate defense, meaning she could not be easily killed, yet her offensive capability was so weak she struggled even against Thor, the Radiant God-King, let alone breaking through the multiverse's barrier.

For most beings, crossing the barrier of a single universe was already nearly impossible; for the multiverse's barrier, even Eternity found it challenging, let alone ordinary beings.

Loki halted just inside the multiverse's barrier, hands on hips, staring at the Dark Dimension clinging to the barrier, feeling stuck.

Thanos was a difficult client—if handled properly, he could yield substantial profit, but that didn't mean Loki should risk venturing beyond the multiverse's barrier for him.

Just as Loki was about to give up, she suddenly noticed that Thanos inside the Dark Dimension seemed to have realized something was wrong.

Thanos was instantly returned to his palace; having endured multiple deaths, his first reaction upon returning was to heal—but even more urgent was investigating what had just happened.

Within the dimension, he could clearly sense changes, especially when passing through two barriers. His brain injury hadn't fully healed; he endured excruciating pain as he flew toward the edge of the Dark Dimension.

When he reached the edge, beyond should have been other star systems—but now, there was nothing. Only one angle revealed a thick, solid barrier.

He realized he'd been cast into a nameless void. He tried attacking the boundary, but it had no effect—he knew he was trapped.

At that moment, through the haze, he spotted a bright point of light. He thought it might be a turning point, so he surged toward it with all his strength.

In the instant Loki and Thanos locked eyes, Loki suddenly remembered her training as a top-tier salesperson.

She put on a professional smile and looked at Thanos beyond the barrier:

"Hello, His Majesty Thanos. We meet again. It seems you're facing some difficulties—but no worries."

"The Nine Realms' Holy Sanctuary offers you our utmost service, including cross-universe communication, cross-universe mercenary missions, cross-universe energy transmission…"

Thanos, having survived countless deaths and suffering unbearable headaches, had already felt despair upon realizing he was trapped—but his mind was filled with the dream of conquering the universe. He would never allow himself to be confined to this tiny space; his grand ambition must be fulfilled.

At that moment, Loki pulled out a contract and said:

"Now, I proudly present to you the Papal Proxy service. We will select for you the most suitable Pope within the universe—he will faithfully carry out your commands…"

Thus, dazed yet dreaming wildly, Thanos signed the contract authorizing Loki to choose his Pope, swept away by her sales pitch.

Before leaving, he muttered: "Find me the Infinity Stones… Infinity Stones… uh…"

"Got it. Infinity Stones. I'll remember," Loki replied half-heartedly, flipping through the contract with a smug smile.

Back on Earth, in Stark's lab, all members of the Luminous Alliance were present. Loki tossed the contract onto the table and said: "This damn hard-to-deal-with client is finally mine."

Then she turned to Shiler: "I bet you'd be willing to pay a high price for this contract—after all, it's the Papal Seat personally sold by His Majesty Thanos…"

Stark snorted: "What's the use? Just a title. You said he's been thrown out of the universe."

But Shiler said: "Name your price. I'll take it."

Stark stared at him, incredulous: "Why? What's the use? It's just an empty title!"

"Who says so?" Shiler picked up the contract and flipped through it. "I'm the Pope personally appointed by His Majesty Thanos. If, by accident, a civilization gets destroyed, it's clearly the command of the great Dark Emperor Thanos—not the fault of weak, helpless, pitiful humans."

"Humans are merely a pitiful race scavenging scraps from the ruins of war."

Stark and Strange exchanged glances, then watched as Shiler activated the halo above his head, made a gesture over his chest, and declared:

"His Majesty Thanos's conquest of the universe shall never cease! The dark hooves shall trample every corner of the cosmos, and all shall bow before his mighty power!"

"Conquest, victory, and glory belong to Thanos. Amen!"
