Chapter 95
In Stark Tower, a data cable was plugged into the terminal device; Peter was fiddling with a computer when JARVIS said, “Data transfer complete: 3%, 2%, 1%...”
Peter’s computer screen lit up; he said, “Received it! Let me see... Oh my God, what is all this????”
Countless files and data appeared before Peter’s eyes; he said in disbelief, “What is this? This looks like some military personnel files... Lawrence, 35 years old, lost both arms, Subject 3022...”
“Someone is experimenting on these retired disabled soldiers... My God... Wait, what’s this?”
“Extremis Project?”
Peter began typing furiously; the screen’s glow flickered across his face as he scrolled through the data, his expression growing worse, then pale as death.
“Mr. Parker, your heart rate is abnormal. Please cease all activity immediately and take deep breaths...”
Peter dropped his hands, staggered back several steps, swallowed hard, and said in a dry voice, “We may have stumbled upon something enormous...”
Then he shook his head left and right, glancing around; Peter said, “JARVIS, make sure this device stays offline and secure the data here—I’ll be right back...”
His voice trembled, clearly tense, yet he forced himself to calmly arrange everything before grabbing his backpack and leaving the tower.
When Shiler saw Peter, he had never seen Spider-Man look so pale; normally Peter might look tired from staying up late, but now his lips were nearly bloodless, his body shaking, utterly disoriented.
Before Shiler could speak, Peter blurted out like reciting lines, “Listen, Doctor, let me finish first! I’m afraid I won’t remember it if I wait...”
