Chapter 258: The Madman and the
Galarian Corsola had been listening to Baimu chatter all morning.
Only when he finally tired himself out did she count herself as having escaped a disaster.
This guy can really talk!
Never knew he could babble this much before! If she weren't so lazy, and if Baimu's cooking weren't actually pretty good, Galarian Corsola would have kicked him out long ago!
Meanwhile.
Baimu, his mouth dry and throat parched, was also wondering why Galarian Corsola was so impervious — surely even a stone would crack after hearing this many words?
The living and the ghost each harbored different thoughts, never quite meeting on the same line.
"Sigh."
Baimu let out a breath, just about to head to the restroom to relieve himself, and as he stood up he noticed the few passengers and Pokémon in the distance sitting unusually upright for some reason.
How to describe it?
Basically the kind of posture that would earn praise from an elementary school teacher — backs ramrod straight, eyes fixed forward.
He was inexplicably creeped out by these guys: the empty ferry cabin, the stiffly posed people and Pokémon, the boundless deep dark sea.
A perfect horror movie scene!
But luckily he had Galarian Corsola by his side, so even if he ran into a ghost he wouldn't be afraid.
Besides, these ones should be alive — they had shadows, they sweated, their bodies were trembling over there. Baimu took a careful look and confirmed they were indeed human.
What kind of game are they playing?
He shook his head speechlessly and ducked into the restroom.
And the moment the restroom door closed, those stiff-bodied passengers and Pokémon also abruptly relaxed.
"Phew, that madman finally left."
"The way he looked over just now was so scary! I want to go up to the deck…"
"Aren't you afraid he'll tackle you into the sea?"
"I'm actually more curious how he can talk to a rock for a whole morning — is he even human? I think I've heard legends about sea spirits."
"Hey! Why are you so annoying!"
The few passengers chatted animatedly, occasionally mixed with one or two Pokémon cries.
Baimu, washing his hands in the restroom, was covered in black lines; his ears had always been sharp, and the conversation outside wasn't quiet either. It was truly a mutual misunderstanding — he took those people for ghosts, and those people took him for a madman.
"You've made things hard for me."
He splashed a bit of water onto Galarian Corsola.
Galarian Corsola looked at him with a disdainful gaze, as if to say this wasn't her doing.
He walked out of the restroom.
Those animatedly chatting passengers immediately stiffened their expressions, quickly scattered, and as if nothing had happened, continued sitting perfectly upright.
Baimu hadn't really minded at first, but seeing them pull this stunt again he simply kept staring at them without saying a word.
Sensing his burning gaze, those few passengers sat even more upright, but holding the same posture for so long was honestly not easy.
Before long, they couldn't sit still anymore.
Baimu had no intention of actually tormenting them. He glanced outside, saw that the island where Fighting Town was located was already clearly visible, and stood up to head out.
Passing by those people, he suddenly turned and said to the terrified-looking people and Pokémon: "First of all, I'm not a madman — I was communicating with my Pokémon.
"Second, this isn't a rock, this is a Galarian-form Corsola. You should be able to scan it with the Pokédex. I think with this explanation, the misunderstanding should be cleared up, right?"
Baimu took out his phone and tapped it against their Pokémon one by one, lighting up the silhouettes in the Pokédex.
Those passengers were completely dumbfounded, and only after he turned and walked out of the cabin did they exchange glances, too embarrassed to speak.
"Galarian region's… Corsola?"
"Seems like there really is a Pokémon like that…"
"Did he hear everything we said from inside the restroom? Ah! How embarrassing!"
The few of them each displayed the shame of someone caught red-handed while acting crazy alone at home.
——
Deck.
Baimu gripped the railing and gazed toward Fighting Island in the distance.
The Pokémon world is always vaster than imagined. Fighting Island, which in the game only had the two settings of town and cave, had a full dozen-plus episodes of content in the anime, with different settings in every episode.
Including mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and even abandoned gold mines.
What interested him especially was that there was a Mudkip breeding base here, where the Mudkip were specially raised and given to new trainers all across Hoenn.
Unfortunately, that place was usually off-limits. Ash and the others had also taken an unconventional route, getting in by accident through rock climbing. As a result, Brock discovered a wild Mudkip in the Mudkip breeding base.
