Chapter 58: The Young Lady Arrives
After choosing the rewards.
Everything before his eyes vanished entirely, turning into a string of countdown numbers and a small plus sign.
Staring at the plus sign for a long time, the stored rewards surfaced one by one.
No rush to use the levels—feels like the higher the level, the harder it is to level up later, so maximizing the effect is necessary. Unless some Pokémon absolutely needs those two levels.
The move learning machine… this thing is kind of like a lottery, you can only pick the type, god knows what skill it'll randomly give.
Set it aside too, we'll talk about it when filling in the gaps.
The type-specific Pokémon has to be postponed even more; besides, aside from Dragon type there's no need to pick anything else—the chance of getting blue skies and white clouds is extremely high, only Dragon type has a high probability of a big hit.
But Mawile will arrive tomorrow, so let's tame this "Young Lady" first.
The only thing usable right away is probably 【Miniskirt's Fighting Memory—Boxing】. Granted, it's a teenage girl's fighting memory, but judging by the simulated content, it should help him quite a bit.
He quietly selected it, and his vision immediately went black.
When his sight brightened again.
Baimu found himself in an extremely unfamiliar fighting arena; the surroundings were slightly blurred, like some not-very-vivid memory.
Before him stood a man with a blurred face but solid muscles.
The other was saying something, and he himself began moving along slowly.
Unable to shift his viewpoint or control his body, he could only passively feel all of this, experiencing what Miniskirt had felt when learning boxing.
Gradually, he immersed himself in it.
Since he had never learned boxing in either his past or present life, he had no way of knowing whether the fighting techniques of the Pokémon world were the same as in his past life; for now he only felt he was benefiting greatly.
Then.
Baimu woke up.
Outside, the sky had brightened too.
"……"
He blinked, looked at the bright sunlight spilling through the curtains, then glanced at the Chansey by the bedpost and the Aron under the bed. "Good lord, you gave me the whole night…"
He truly hadn't expected playing back the memory to take this much time; one look at the wall clock showed it had gone on for at least six or seven hours.
But the gains were quite big—not only knowledge for teaching Mawile boxing, Baimu also had a rough idea of how to get Pokémon to do strength training.
"Lucky…"
"Guddo…"
Hearing his voice, the two Pokémon slowly woke up.
"Both awake? Let's eat breakfast and get ready to welcome a new friend. Remember, without my command, even if I'm attacked, you must not fight back."
Baimu told them earnestly.
Aron and Chansey nodded, half-understanding.
Breakfast at home.
Baimu had a cup of diluted MooMoo Fresh Milk, a nutritious egg, plus bread and vegetables; Aron had the same first two, but also needed to eat some minerals and special Pokémon food; Chansey, aside from no minerals, also couldn't do without nutritional supplements.
Adding it up, just breakfast costs quite a bit of money.
After all, the price of MooMoo Fresh Milk is no small matter, even diluted.
"Wouldn't it be nice if Iron Town also had the conditions to raise a Miltank herd someday." He couldn't help sighing—the barren environment made all fresh fruits, vegetables, and grains here extremely expensive.
Dehydrated vegetables and canned food were fairly priced, but the taste was utterly mushy; anyone who'd had fresh vegetables would never think dehydrated vegetables were good.
"Three parts training, seven parts eating—didn't expect the Pokémon world to follow this theory too."
Baimu had to start considering earning money to support the household.
His goal was never to get by in Iron Town; without saving up a sufficiently sizable sum of money, there'd be no point in him running off to other regions.
It'd just be jumping from one fishpond where the big fish eat you, to another fishpond where the big fish eat you.
Except some big fish can be so big you don't even know you've been eaten.
But given his current situation, besides harvesting money from the lowest-class commoners as the easiest and fastest way, what other method was there?
Earning money from the rich could certainly make a killing, but it wasn't that easy…
Wait.
Now that he had a phone, why not earn money from the online world?
Rather than being stuck on this little patch of Iron Town, better to broaden one's horizons and look at the whole world—maybe he could find a road to wealth.
Get rid of the semi-illiterate state as soon as possible.
Baimu thought it over and realized that although he no longer had a survival crisis, there were really far, far too many things to do—so many that twenty-four hours might not be enough.
——
A little past nine in the morning.
Flobber finally showed up, bringing quite a few things.
Besides the most basic Poké Balls and physical examination report, there were also many miscellaneous items.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. These are some gifts the big boss attached for you, plus Mawile's favorite doll, and some personal items…"
He handed the things to Baimu one by one, then used a POS-machine-like gadget to swipe away two million.
"This anonymous card belongs to you from now on. You can transfer it to your personal name via your phone. If you can't operate it, you can also go to the small Pokémon World Bank branch in Dungeon Sixteen."
Flobber wore a smile. "Well then, I won't disturb you any longer. Get along well with your new Pokémon."
"Thank you."
Baimu thanked him softly, watching Flobber leave.
On the table.
Mawile was housed in a luxury ball with a black base and gold lines; reportedly the comfort inside this type of ball far exceeds ordinary balls. Baimu had just switched Aron and Chansey into them yesterday, earning unanimous praise.
A Young Lady spoiled rotten since birth, huh...
He thought it over briefly, then read through that physical examination report again and again, and still chose to come outside, to avoid having to spend another fortune on repairs.
Braviary may not be a Husky, but once its temper flared, it might just come up with a million-dollar renovation plan, and then he'd really be crying his heart out with nowhere to turn.
But Klinklang and Happiny followed behind, very curious about the new companion, and also worried whether the Trainer might get attacked — after all, there was the cautionary tale of the Scream Tail Larvitar.
The backyard.
All Baimu stood beneath the mottled shade of a tree and opened the Luxury Ball.
Pop!
Bai Guang shot out and landed on the ground, transforming into a petite humanoid figure.
"Gible?"
A voice as pleasant as a silver bell rang out.
A lovable little creature appeared before All Baimu — a terrifying mouth larger than its body replacing long black hair, with bangs on either side, short yellow fur all over like a tiny kimono, and big copper-red eyes blinking on and on.
Its appearance was so well-behaved and pitifully endearing that it was extremely easy to win the favor of Pokémon enthusiasts.
But it also had a scientific name: the Cheating Pokémon.
The reason lay in the pitch-black great jaws on the back of Braviary's head.
"Hello."
All Baimu gave it a gentle smile.
Braviary glanced up at him, gave no response whatsoever, and instead lowered its head in thought, eyes flickering.
All Baimu didn't quite understand what this little fellow was pondering, and couldn't help looking toward Klinklang and Happiny; the latter two both shook their heads, indicating they didn't understand either.
A few seconds later.
Braviary began to observe its surroundings — first the big tree behind him, then extending to Klinklang and Happiny, then the saplings and even the two-story little house, as well as the hot wind that stung its face.
"... Gible."
It sighed in an extremely human-like manner, and walked off on its own toward the backyard gate; as it walked, the great jaws on the back of its head bobbed up and down, which still looked somewhat cute.
All Baimu immediately followed after it.
