Chapter 228: The Champion Has Gone Mad

"What's wrong?"

All Baimu and Munchlax leaned over curiously, and saw that Boldore seemed to want to smash the moss-covered rock, yet looked rather hesitant.

"Roar~"

Boldore turned its head, pointed at a rock about knee-height, and indicated that it seemed to sense something.

"Is this… Moss Rock?"

He crouched down to take a look. In the games, there was a kind of rock that could assist Yin Bu's evolution into Leafeon, and in the Gem replication it was clearly located in Petalburg Woods.

But beyond that, it had no other effects, so he wasn't sure if this thing was one.

He searched the relevant entries, compared them on every front, and found that the probability of it being a Moss Rock was very high.

First, Moss Rocks usually only grew moss on the "top," with no moss on the other parts.

Second, Moss Rocks weren't as heavy as rocks of the same volume; hefting it would feel much lighter.

All Baimu was, after all, from Rustboro City, so he had a built-in sense of how much a rock of that volume should weigh, and as he kept reading, his eyes suddenly lit up.

The entry stated that not every moss-covered rock would trigger a change in Yin Bu's body; through analysis, it was discovered that the vast majority of Moss Rocks very likely contained a Ye Zhishi inside, or rather a Ye Zhishi that had yet to form.

The special force field they released could cause genetically unstable Yin Bu to evolve without even touching it.

By the same logic, another kind of rock called an Ice Rock also contained an Ice Stone or an unformed Ice Stone inside; this was also why later research discovered that Yin Bu could evolve simply through Leaf Stones and Ice Stones.

"Hiss! Just picking one up at random could yield an evolution stone?"

He sucked in a breath of cold air and couldn't help but praise Boldore, "Not bad, buddy! What great luck! Luck— huh?"

Remembering something, he pulled a box from his pocket, inside which was clearly the Beautiful Scale that Toshiki had given him yesterday.

This is my Lucky Scale; I hope it can bring you good luck too.

"No way… a coincidence?"

All Baimu eyed the Beautiful Scale suspiciously; for the moment, he really couldn't say for sure about such a profoundly mysterious thing.

Forget it.

It's free anyway, so why not believe in it a little.

He put the box back and discussed with Munchlax and Boldore how to dismantle this Moss Rock. Brute force was definitely out of the question; as Champion Dawu had said, evolution stones, like pearls and jade, had differences in quality.
