Chapter 314: Two Heads, Twice the Use
The next morning.
Baimu awoke beneath a crushing weight that made it hard to breathe.
One look confirmed it was the Two-Headed Tyrant pinning him down — over a hundred jin of weight pressing on his belly and chest; calling it attempted robbery and murder wouldn't be an exaggeration.
Fortunately, his constitution was far from ordinary.
He tried to pull his hands free… but couldn't.
Both were clamped in the Two-Headed Tyrant's jaws. Before, he could pinch its nose with his free hand to wake it up — but what now?
Baimu fell into thought, then soon turned his head to look at the Chansey beside him. "Help…"
"Lucky~"
Chansey roused itself from deep sleep, first rubbing its eyes to wake up, then noticed Baimu pinned beneath the Two-Headed Tyrant, his head turned sideways as he called for help.
An involuntary smile crossed its face. "Lucky~"
A push of psychic power — Telekinesis gently pried open the Two-Headed Tyrant's jaws and lifted it into the air.
Baimu picked up a wet wipe from the bedside table and wiped the drool from his hands, sighing: "The body's changed, but the personality and habits haven't… there's still so much growing to do."
Last night, to help the Two-Headed Tyrant better master its new body, they had struggled for most of the night before finally falling asleep.
However.
This little… well, now it's already a big fellow.
This big fellow was quite talented at body control — it had easily overcome the trait of its two heads always moving in sync, making them work like a pair of hands.
Performing different actions based on different commands.
For instance, one high and one low, one up and one down, one mouth open and one mouth shut.
And during the testing, Baimu also discovered some interesting things.
For example, cover the left head's eyes, show the right head two Cheri berries, then ask the left head how many there are — the fellow could answer perfectly.
To some extent, this might prove the fellow only has one consciousness.
Or perhaps some kind of brain-domain link setting?
Baimu thought as he got out of bed and went to the bathroom to wash up, and woke the Mawile sleeping on the sofa. The latter rose from a pile of plush toys and pillows, yawned, and followed his steps.
Meanwhile.
"Hew-oo?" "Hew-oo?"
The Two-Headed Tyrant awoke, saw itself floating in the air without the slightest surprise, and let out hisses as its little wings flapped.
Chansey, hearing the sound, immediately set it down.
"Hew-oo~" "Hew-oo~"
The Two-Headed Tyrant jumped back onto the bed and nuzzled Chansey with both big heads.
As fellow bedmates, and with the latter always caring for it dearly, their relationship had always been good. Unfortunately, not yet used to its new body, its two heads kept accidentally bumping into each other.
After nuzzling Chansey, it went over to the Galarian Corsola at the head of the bed, looking down at it from above.
Looks alone, the Two-Headed Tyrant really hadn't recognized at first that this rock was that annoying fellow — but luckily, having sight didn't mean its sense of smell and touch were gone.
Once the two were combined, it quickly connected it with the Galarian Corsola.
Toward this slacker teammate, the Two-Headed Tyrant held no particular ill will, but no particular fondness either — because it always stole the trainer's hand.
Whenever Baimu had nothing to do, he liked to pick up the Galarian Corsola and fiddle with it. The Two-Headed Tyrant watched, and couldn't help feeling a little jealous — because it wanted to monopolize the trainer's hand.
Of course, even a dimwit like it understood such a thing was impossible — the trainer belonged to everyone.
Therefore.
The Two-Headed Tyrant would always pick on the Galarian Corsola a little.
For instance, deliberately carrying it to a sunny spot first thing in the morning.
"Hew-oo~" "Hew-oo~"
One head of the Two-Headed Tyrant carried it, while the other made faces at the Galarian Corsola with its crimson eyes exposed. It happily ran to the living room and set it outside on the balcony, then returned — one head pushed the glass door, the other used its teeth to lock the window latch.
This trick Baimu had told it about last night — who would've thought it'd come in handy first thing this morning.
Good job!
It trotted off to the bathroom to find Baimu.
"……"
The Galarian Corsola floated up from the ground and passed through the glass with ease.
It didn't quite understand why this fellow only grew in size and not in brains — probably spoiled rotten, always causing pointless trouble.
Along the way, it ran into a Porygon that looked like a blocky duck, and exchanged a one-second stare with its dead-fish eyes.
Mm.
A wordless understanding was reached.
It landed on Porygon's back — the latter just happened to have a spot on its back where it could settle.
"Pory?"
Porygon turned its head to look at the dormant Galarian Corsola, didn't understand what it meant, and started swinging its blocky legs to go ask the trainer.
Meanwhile, in the bathroom.
By now it was nearly packed.
Mawile stood on a small stool, cleaning its fur and massive jaws with clear water. Baimu and Chansey, hands and feet together, gripped the Two-Headed Tyrant's two heads and pried their mouths open to brush their teeth.
"Pory…"
Porygon glanced twice, confirmed the trainer was probably busy, and quietly withdrew.
As one of the smartest Pokémon on the team, it was as considerate as Chansey — but being currently weak left it little room to shine, making its presence barely felt.
However, Baimu had once told it that it was the core of some important strategy, so he very much hoped it could grow up quickly.
Eevee was determined to be worthy of its Trainer's trust.
—
Breakfast.
Made after quite a bit of fussing.
Being able to see had brought out an unusual liveliness in the Zweilous. Everything it saw sparked its curiosity, and it went around sniffing and looking at things, as if wanting to commit to memory all the things it had never seen or recognized over the years.
And the simplest way to reinforce a memory was to bite it.
The Piplup that had accompanied All Baimu on his visit was unlucky — one of Zweilous's probing mouths bit right down on it.
"Pip!"
It was about to cry out in pain, but then realized it didn't hurt at all.
By the time it reacted, Zweilous had already let go and gone off to bite something else.
Piplup patted its chest, still feeling the lingering fright.
Then.
Its back was covered in cold sweat.
"Pip?"
Piplup ran to All Baimu's feet, tugged at his trouser leg, and looked up, asking something.
The latter was puzzled at first, but once Piplup animatedly mimed a firework and he glanced at the Zweilous biting everything in sight, he laughed and said, "Sorry, it doesn't know Meteor Mash yet."
"Pip!"
Piplup's eyes lit up. Without a care for the occasion, it sat down on the ground, and its mood quickly settled.
All Baimu was thoroughly amused.
It seemed it really had been traumatized by Ash's Gible using Meteor Mash on it — to the point that being bitten made it recall that miserable past experience.
At mealtime.
New Zi Jin inevitably asked him about his plans going forward.
"New Zi Jin City, I suppose. I want to take part in both the Grand Festival and the Pokémon League."
All Baimu said softly, then asked, "What about you?"
"Me? I'm planning to go to Verdanturf Town to see Brock, and then to take part in the Contest in Rustboro City." She thought for a moment, then said regretfully, "It'd be nice if our routes lined up."
After all these days together, she had long been won over by All Baimu's cooking, and since she genuinely enjoyed setting out with companions, she felt quite downcast that the two of them couldn't travel together.
"As long as we're both in the Hoenn region, there'll be a chance to meet again someday."
All Baimu offered a comforting reply.
But in truth, even if New Zi Jin had wanted to travel together, he would have found a way to refuse. Perhaps Ash believed the more people on the road the better, but he was more accustomed to traveling alone with his Pokémon.
