Chapter 2717: Wedding Songs
Zhou Andong sighed, put down the pen in his hand, took out a cigarette and lit one. His favorite song was "The Most Romantic Thing," but this song was written in 1992, released as a single in 1993, and included in an album in 1994, released in June.
If it were for an album release or commercial performance, he could buy the copyright to this song. But for a wedding song given to his wife, buying a song would be inappropriate; only a song he "wrote" himself would be meaningful.
Zhou Andong smoked, his mind constantly turning. After a few minutes, he picked up his pen and wrote on the manuscript: "Just Once," "Because of Love," "The Rest of My Life," "Promise."
After all, in his previous life Zhou Andong had worked at weddings, served as a wedding host, and had to sing these songs at every wedding. Even later, when he opened a bar in the university town as its owner, he often stole songs from the resident singers and then went on stage to sing.
Next, Zhou Andong wrote several more songs. Since they were for his wife, of course he had to write a few more, to make her happy and let her become the happiest bride.
"I Got Married," Zhou Andong put pen to paper again. This song was for Seeing Jian Qiu to sing when she entered. Besides, Lao Si would definitely be the flower boy, handing them the rings, so naturally he also needed to arrange a song for her, which was "For You."
Lao Si had a very good sense of music, so singing this song should pose no big problem. If he added a little boy, it would be perfect. Only, seven- or eight-year-old children are easy to find, but seven- or eight-year-old children who can sing are not so easy to find.
The Jian family—Zhou Andong immediately ruled them out; those he was close to were not married. Those he wasn't close to, he naturally wouldn't use. So it could only be the Gu family; he would ask Seeing Jian Qiu about it later.
Thinking, Zhou Andong pressed the cigarette butt into the ashtray, first notating the twelve children's songs, then writing the lyrics. After finishing, it was already past twelve at night, over three hours had passed.
After all, he sang these songs little, and even most of them he had only heard; he needed to carefully recall, note by note, to pick them out, which took time.
Next came the songs to be sung at the wedding—this was simple. Every note and every lyric was already in his mind, and he finished in less than an hour.
Zhou Andong put down his pen, glanced at the time—it was already past one. He tidied up the manuscript, then stood up and walked out. Tomorrow he still had a meeting; even if he was goofing off, he couldn't be late.
Zhou Andong left the study; the early autumn night was still a bit cool, he wore short sleeves and couldn't help but shiver.
"The weather's turned cool."
Zhou Andong muttered as he returned to the guest room; the moment he reached out to turn on the light, he heard a lazy voice sound.
"What are you writing in the study? It's already this late before you come over."
Zhou Andong was startled by the sudden voice, looked up, and saw Seeing Jian Qiu lying on the double bed, half-squinting her eyes at him.
"My goodness!" Zhou Andong patted his chest, speaking unhappily: "Wife, do you not know that scaring people can scare them to death?"
Seeing Jian Qiu puffed out a laugh, turned over and sat up, the blanket sliding off her body, revealing her alluring collarbone and impressive upper body. Especially since she wore a white silk nightgown, in the lamplight it was faintly visible, making Zhou Andong, who had been holding back for over half a year, unable to bear it.
A few steps brought him to the bed, he flung himself onto Seeing Jian Qiu. Dry wood meeting fire, with a bang it ignited. Seeing Jian Qiu stretched out her snow-white arms, wrapped them around Zhou Andong's neck, responding passionately, entwining.
Where skin touched skin, it was like a spring breeze brushing over a thawing stream, sending ripples layer upon layer. Where hair tangled, like vines climbing ancient wood, indistinguishable. Fingertips brushing each other's skin, as if touching morning dew on flower petals, leaving a faint trace.
Breaths intertwined, warm breath in the air turning to mist like poetry, each exhale carrying the rhythm of a swaying heart. Clothes slipped off, like shedding the wings of a bound butterfly, in the quiet time unfolding, fluttering.
At this moment, between heaven and earth only their heartbeats remained, like zither and lute in harmony, playing the most moving movement of life. The union of spirit and flesh, like sun and moon shining together, in the deep night curtain bursting forth with radiant light, softening the years, also stunning time.
Time in their intertwined fingers turned liquid, flowing along the touching skin. Zhou Andong buried his face in Seeing Jian Qiu's neck crook; there the artery under the skin lightly beat, like a drum unique to her. She could feel the vibration in his chest cavity, like the lowest string of a cello being plucked, the aftershock trembling through all touching bones.
The final kiss fell, their souls tightly fused together. Like two symbiotic plants, roots in unseen soil tightly entwined, branches and leaves in moonlight spreading and overlapping, turning all unspoken words into sweetness in the breath.
The next morning, it was already past eight when Zhou Andong woke up; Seeing Jian Qiu still clung to him like an octopus, sleeping soundly in his arms. Last night had indeed been a bit crazy; they didn't sleep until three.
Zhou Andong glanced at the time, gently lifted Seeing Jian Qiu's arm. As soon as he moved, she opened her eyes, her voice carrying a hint of hoarse magnetism as she said.
"Husband, what time is it?"
"Almost eight; I need to get up quickly, or I'll be late for the meeting."
"Then hurry up." Seeing Jian Qiu turned over and sat up, then got out of the bed stark naked, picked up Zhou Andong's clothes to help him dress, then tidied his collar: "Go wash your face; I need to tidy the room first."
Zhou Andong glanced at the pile of paper balls thrown on the floor, gave a hey laugh: "Wife, last night you..."
"Shut up!" Seeing Jian Qiu gave Zhou Andong a glance, knowing this bastard had nothing good to say, so she bluntly cut him off: "Hurry up and brush your teeth and wash your face, don't be late."
Zhou Andong laughed again, cupped Seeing Jian Qiu's face, and kissed her lips: "Our wedding songs are finished; there's one for you to sing when you enter—how about it, do you want to sing it?"
Seeing Jian Qiu exclaimed in delight: "There's a song for me to sing when I enter?"
"Yes!" Zhou Andong couldn't help but kiss Seeing Jian Qiu again, mainly because this woman was too tempting: "And there's our duet too; tomorrow I'll take a day to go to Future Culture, first work out the arrangement."
Seeing Jian Qiu wrapped her arms around Zhou Andong's neck, happily returning his kiss: "Husband, the sheet music is in the study, right? I'll go look at it later."
Zhou Andong said with a smile: "You can look at our duet, after all you need to get familiar with it first, practice a bit. But the other songs you can't look at; otherwise, there won't be any surprise then."
"Husband!" Seeing Jian Qiu leaned into Zhou Andong's arms, she who had never known what coquettishness was, now actually acted coquettish: "Just let me look, you let me look now—actually it's also a surprise."
"No!" Zhou Andong remained unmoved, completely achieving indifference to beauty, turned and went to the bathroom.
"If you won't let me look, then forget it." Seeing Jian Qiu muttered, after putting on her clothes she began tidying up.
