Chapter 934: This Old Lady Is About to Cause Trouble

~6 min read 1,028 words

At noon, Jian Minglang had lunch with his old colleagues; it was obvious anyone who ate with him held a similar status.

He was upset because he wanted to introduce Jian Qiu to his colleagues to gain political advantages.

But he never dreamed Jian Qiu and Zhou Andong had a child together.

“Second Aunt!” Jian Minglang, in no mood to deal with Jian Mingfan, snapped: “How could Qiuqiu possibly…”

“Grandpa, Grandma, we’re here.” Jian Qiu walked in holding Susu, cutting off Jian Minglang’s words.

“Grandpa, Mom, Second Aunt.” Zhou Andong greeted them, then turned to the old lady: “Grandma!”

“Grandma, this is Zhou Andong.” Jian Qiu introduced him.

The old lady had no good impression of Zhou Andong; she was a traditional woman who valued social parity.

In her eyes, Zhou Andong was unworthy of Jian Qiu and had no right to step across the Jian family’s threshold.

More importantly, Zhou Andong’s presence had thrown the Jian household into chaos.

She hadn’t met Zhou Andong last night, but Gu Minglan had told her everything.

She had been deeply displeased then, but since her strong-willed second daughter-in-law had agreed, she had to swallow her anger.

Besides, they’d already registered and married, and the child was born—everything was settled. Saying anything now was pointless.

“Mm.” The old lady gave a cold, indifferent nod.

Zhou Andong raised an eyebrow. This old lady was about to stir up trouble?

Fuck, I’ve already got the marriage certificate, and I’ve won over the mother-in-law. If even you, old lady, or Old Man Jian himself tries to cause trouble, and I so much as glance at you, I’m not Zhou Andong.

The old lady’s reaction surprised everyone, each person’s expression differing.

Gu Minglan frowned, a flicker of displeasure in her eyes. Your grandson-in-law calls you Grandma, and this is your response?

Zhao Ping’s lips curled into a faint, almost invisible sneer; she also disliked this mother-in-law.

Otherwise, even if she had conflicts with her sisters-in-law, she wouldn’t avoid visiting during the New Year.

Jian Qiu’s smile vanished instantly.

I’m your granddaughter, your favorite granddaughter. Zhou Andong is my husband, your grandson-in-law, and this is how you treat him?

Even if you dislike him, you can’t even bother pretending to be polite in front of so many people.

Your attitude doesn’t just humiliate Zhou Andong—it humiliates me, your granddaughter.

Jian Minglang’s face twisted with resentment toward Jian Qiu; the old lady’s behavior made him feel less alone.

“Jian Qiu, have you studied so much your brain’s gone to the dogs? How can you be so shameless? A woman giving birth before marriage—where’s our family’s face now?”

“Even I, your own brother, can’t show my face outside—I’m mocked every single day…”

*Slap!*

Zhou Andong struck Jian Minglang hard across the face.

The slap stunned Jian Minglang, and everyone else stared in disbelief at Zhou Andong.

*Slap!*

Zhou Andong swung backhand, striking Jian Minglang’s other cheek.

Jian Minglang’s face swelled visibly, blood seeping from his lips.

Zhou Andong spoke coldly: “Can’t show your face? Then don’t bother keeping it.”

Jian Minglang’s head rang, spots dancing before his eyes; it took a while to clear, then he roared.

“You dare hit me?”

“Hit you?” Zhou Andong laughed. “If you weren’t a Jian, I’d knock out every tooth in your mouth and break both your legs. You believe me?”

He pulled Jian Qiu close by the waist: “Jian Qiu is my wife. I won’t even scold her—what right do you have? Who the hell do you think you are?”

Zhao Ping blinked, hands behind her back, giving Zhou Andong a thumbs-up.

Gu Minglan smiled, thoroughly satisfied with Zhou Andong’s defense of Jian Qiu.

As for hitting Jian Minglang—it was nothing. To insult Jian Qiu right in front of her mother? He deserved it.

In her view, Zhou Andong had gone too easy—he should’ve knocked out every tooth.

The old lady trembled with rage, pointing at Zhou Andong, but the old man snorted.

“Don’t meddle.”

The old lady froze, her expression shifting; she lowered her hand and slammed the table hard.

“At my age, sitting too long makes my back and waist ache—I need to lie down.”

She rose and left the dining room, heading straight to her bedroom.

Jian Minglang’s head throbbed; he glared with fury, raising his fist to strike.

Zhou Andong suddenly kicked out, spun sharply—*crash!*—a chair flew across the room, then *crash!* again as it shattered against the wall.

“If you want to fight me, think carefully.”

Jian Minglang’s fist hung frozen in midair—he dared not strike, but retracting it felt humiliating. He stood there, utterly awkward.

“What’s going on?” Jian Yue arrived, timely in rescuing Jian Minglang.

He took the opening: “Here at Grandpa’s, I won’t make a scene. But remember this: today’s humiliation, I will repay.”

“Ha!” Zhou Andong sneered. “Jian Minglang, I don’t look down on you—I just don’t respect you. Look at you. What do you think you can use to get even? One-on-one? I can take twenty men like you.

Use your secretary position to get back at me? Go ahead. Try using your power to shake the roots of Yugong Group.”

Jian Minglang’s face flushed dark—whether from the swelling or rage, no one could tell.

“Zhou Andong, don’t get too arrogant. You really think you can control Jiangzhou?”

Zhou Andong ignored him, turning instead to the old man’s expressionless face.

“Grandpa, today I struck your own grandson—not because I’m arrogant, but because I’m Jian Qiu’s husband. I won’t allow anyone to hurt her. If someone does, I’ll break them until they submit. If they won’t submit, I’ll erase them.”

Jian Qiu’s eyes glistened; Gu Minglan’s smile deepened—Zhou Andong’s performance today pleased her immensely.

Before yesterday, she couldn’t stand him; now, the more she saw him, the more she liked him.

Zhao Ping shook her head in admiration. Now that’s a man. She thought of her own suffering at home, where Jian Zhengye just muddled through every conflict—her anger flared.

“So cool,” Jian Mingfan muttered, gazing at Zhou Andong with pure admiration.

Jian Yue half-understood, staring at Jian Minglang’s swollen face, laughing openly.

“I thought your face got caught in a door.”
