Chapter 444: Another Year of Parting
In the end, he didn't bring his second cousin along.
His cousin was right; if he stayed there and they really started arguing, he could still help mediate.
After returning to Yucheng, he picked up Xia Nuannuan, and the three of them went shopping.
At dinner time, his future mother-in-law called and asked the three of them to come over for dinner.
Tang Wen's flattery skills were quite impressive; she kept the elders laughing and they liked this girl very much.
After sitting for a while after dinner, Qin Tian said his goodbyes, preparing to take his cousin back.
His future mother-in-law suggested that Tang Wen stay the night and sleep with Nuannuan.
Tang Wen was instantly tempted and looked at Qin Tian with eager eyes.
However, Qin Tian refused directly.
Just kidding, he hadn't even enjoyed that treatment himself yet; even if it was his cousin, it wouldn't do.
He took his cousin back to the village entrance.
"I won't drive in. You hurry back!"
Qin Tian turned his head and said to his cousin.
The village entrance was only two or three hundred meters from the house, just a few steps, so he didn't plan to go over.
"Oh!"
Tang Wen nodded reluctantly.
She had been thinking about sleeping with Sister Nuannuan and playing together tomorrow, but her brother insisted on taking her back.
After getting out of the car, Tang Wen had just walked into the village entrance when she suddenly turned around, waved her arms vigorously, and pointed inside the village.
Qin Tian looked over and saw that the Audi was just coming out of the village.
Without a second thought, he skillfully started the car, stepped on the gas, and headed toward Yucheng.
Inside the Audi, Qin Hongwen and Tang Xiuxia had already seen them.
"This child!"
Seeing him drive away directly, Tang Xiuxia frowned slightly.
"It's fine, I'll follow him."
Qin Hongwen said with a smile.
Tang Xiuxia lowered the car window, leaned out, and shouted to Tang Wen in front.
"Little Wen!"
"Auntie!"
"Hurry back. You suddenly left without a word, and your dad is angry with you!"
Tang Xiuxia reminded her.
"Huh? Didn't Brother Heng know where I went?"
Tang Wen looked a bit panicked.
"He did, but you can't just disappear suddenly like that next time. We'll be worried."
"I know, I'm going back now."
"Go!"
Tang Xiuxia nodded.
"Goodbye, Auntie!"
Tang Wen said goodbye and ran home.
Qin Hongwen then accelerated the car and drove out of the village entrance onto the main road.
He kept the car at the fastest speed allowed on that road.
However, until they drove into Yucheng, they couldn't see the tail of that BMW.
Over the next few days, Tang Xiuxia and Qin Hongwen still drove back to the countryside every morning, trying to get forgiveness and improve their relationship before her brother and his family returned to Pingjiang.
Her brother had a steady personality and also had grievances against Qin Hongwen, but he still hoped more for his sister's family to be reunited and happy.
In comparison, it was very difficult for her father and brother.
Especially her father; although he didn't go looking for a kitchen knife again, he never gave Qin Hongwen a good look.
After her brother learned about everything that happened back then, he wasn't as hostile toward Qin Hongwen.
Of course, it wasn't realistic to discard prejudices and become close all of a sudden.
On the morning of the tenth day of the Lunar New Year, her brother's family prepared to set off; if they waited a few more days, the highway would be very congested.
Qin Tian and Xia Nuannuan went to the countryside together to say goodbye to her uncle's family.
Her uncle's family had also driven back, their luggage was already loaded, and they were ready to set off immediately.
"Sister Nuannuan, I'll call you often."
Tang Wen hugged Xia Nuannuan, full of reluctance.
"Okay, I'll call you too."
Xia Nuannuan reached out and patted her head.
"Hmm, you and Brother Tian take care. I'll see if I can come back to find you guys during the summer vacation."
"Okay!"
"Brother Tian, you have to treat Sister Nuannuan well. She's the best girlfriend in the world."
Tang Wen looked up at Qin Tian beside her and urged him seriously.
"Like I need you to tell me."
Qin Tian raised his hands with a smile and rubbed her little face.
"Ah, go away, go away!"
Tang Wen shook her head vigorously to shake off his hands, buried her face in Xia Nuannuan's chest, and rubbed against her, saying muffledly: "No, I want to be clingy a bit more, let someone be extremely envious and jealous."
Qin Tian's eyes twitched slightly, and he resisted the urge to grab her by the back of her collar.
Xia Nuannuan blushed as she looked at him, and seeing him staring straight at her, she hugged Tang Wen and turned slightly to the side.
On the other side, her uncle and aunt also said goodbye to her grandfather and the others.
Finally, her uncle's complex gaze fell on Qin Hongwen.
"Have a safe trip."
Qin Hongwen offered his blessings with a smile.
Her uncle nodded slightly, looked at his sister standing beside him, and thinking of how she had taken care of him when they were young and how much bitterness and exhaustion she had suffered all these years, he couldn't help but have red eyes.
"What are you doing? You're so old now."
Tang Xiuxia rolled her eyes.
Her uncle raised his hand and patted his face hard to calm his emotions, then took the initiative to extend his right hand to Qin Hongwen.
Qin Hongwen was surprised for a moment, then hurriedly shook his hand.
"The past is in the past. Since my sister is willing to give you another chance, I have no objections. But there won't be a next time. My sister has suffered enough."
Her uncle stared at him with sharp eyes, his tone full of warning and threat.
"Understood!"
Qin Hongwen nodded heavily.
"And that child Xiaotian, he can't easily accept you. You must think about how to make it up to him."
"Hmm, I know."
Qin Hongwen looked at his son on the other side and nodded heavily again.
Her uncle didn't say anything else, just patted him on the shoulder, and then shouted loudly to the other side: "Little Wen, let's go!"
"Coming!"
Tang Wen responded and reluctantly let go of Xia Nuannuan.
After her uncle's family of three got into the car, they prepared to set off on their long journey.
Unsurprisingly, it would be another year before they could meet again.
"Dad, Mom, take care of yourselves. If anything happens, call me. I can fly back anytime; it only takes a few hours."
Her uncle opened the car window and said his final goodbye to the two elders.
"Go!"
Her grandfather waved his hand calmly, though his heart was naturally not as calm as he appeared.
Beside him, her grandmother, supported by Tang Xiuxia, had already turned her head to wipe away tears secretly.
When people get old, who doesn't hope for their children to stay by their side, but at the same time, they don't want to become a burden to them.
After the car started and turned around, it headed toward the village entrance.
Her grandmother turned her head to watch the departing car, her eyes already blurred with tears.
"Grandmother, we're still here!"
Qin Tian hurriedly walked over, put his arm around his grandmother's shoulder, and comforted her softly.
Xia Nuannuan also followed, took a pack of tissues from her pocket, pulled one out, and gently wiped away her grandmother's tears.
Her grandmother looked at the two sensible and well-behaved children, and a smile bloomed on her wrinkled face.
