Chapter 486: Going to the Wet Market Together
After the few of them sat down around the dining table, Lao Yezi brought over a bottle of fine wine.
Qin Tian helped open it, filled a glass for each of the two elders first, and then for himself.
The future mother-in-law brought over the final soup, took off her apron, and sat down as well.
"Xiao Tian, don't be a stranger!"
Lao Yezi said with a face full of smiles.
"Grandpa, you're overthinking it; this place is just like my own home, how could I be falsely polite?"
Qin Tian feigned a serious expression.
Once these words were out, the whole family couldn't help but laugh.
"Hahaha... well said, come, come, let us two, grandfather and grandson, have a drink first."
Lao Yezi said with a chuckle as he picked up his wine glass.
"Alright, I toast to you!"
Qin Tian, feeling flattered, hurriedly picked up his glass and clinked it with Lao Yezi's, keeping the rim of his glass slightly lower than the other's.
Afterwards, the two of them each took a small sip.
When family drinks together, naturally, they drink however they feel comfortable.
"Eat, eat."
Lao Yezi picked up his chopsticks and called out.
"Alright!"
Qin Tian responded, first picking up the best piece of the fish and placing it in Lao Yezi's bowl.
"I can help myself, you hurry up and eat your own."
Lao Yezi said with a beaming smile.
Qin Tian nodded with a smile, and just as he was about to reach for more food, Xia Nuannuan, who was sitting on his other side, had already used her chopsticks to place some of his favorite Twice-Cooked Beef into his bowl.
"Brother, eat more."
Xia Nuannuan gave him a sweet smile.
"Alright!"
Qin Tian nodded with a smile.
"Look at our Nuan Nuan, she's sure to be a virtuous wife and good mother in the future."
Lao Yezi said with a beaming face.
Nainai, sitting to the side, nodded in agreement, also smiling until her eyes disappeared.
"Grandpa!"
Xia Nuannuan's pretty face flushed slightly, and she glared at Lao Yezi with a shy, reproachful look.
"Alright, alright, alright, I won't say it, eat, eat, hahaha..."
Lao Yezi laughed heartily with joy.
In the cheerful and pleasant atmosphere, everyone's appetite was even better, and they wiped clean all the dishes the future mother-in-law had made.
After eating and drinking their fill, Qin Tian originally wanted to help clean up, but was pressed by the shoulders by Xia Nuannuan and pushed toward the living room to continue accompanying Lao Yezi to drink tea and play chess.
After hanging out at Xia Nuannuan's home until three in the afternoon, Qin Tian spoke up to take his leave.
"Stay and play a while longer, it's still early!"
Lao Yezi urged him to stay.
"No, I still need to go buy groceries first. Grandpa, why don't you come to my place for dinner tonight and try my cooking?"
Qin Tian invited.
"No, no, let's talk about it another time!"
Lao Yezi waved his hand and politely declined.
Qin Tian didn't insist, nodded, and said, "Alright, then before I return to Jiangcheng tomorrow, I will come to see you again!"
"Good, then you go ahead!"
Lao Yezi agreed with a smile.
"Nuan Nuan, are you and Auntie coming with me, or?"
Qin Tian asked, casting an inquiring look toward Xia Nuannuan.
Xia Nuannuan turned her head to look at her mother.
"Nuan Nuan, you and Xiao Tian go buy groceries first, I'll head over directly by myself in a bit."
Su Xia said with a beaming smile.
Hearing this, neither of them had any objections; after standing up and saying their goodbyes, they went out together.
After leaving the residential complex, the two held hands and headed toward the nearby wet market.
Xia Nuannuan remembered what her mother had urged her in the kitchen, and with a flushed face, she looked at Qin Tian with an expression of wanting to speak but hesitating.
"What's wrong?"
Qin Tian noticed she had something to say and asked with a puzzled look.
"It's nothing."
Xia Nuannuan turned her head away, shaking it with a blushing face.
"That's not right, there must be something, tell me quickly."
Qin Tian urged her, feeling even more puzzled.
The two of them were too familiar with each other; sometimes their gazes and expressions could reveal a great deal of information.
Xia Nuannuan was silent for a moment, then lowered her head and said in a small voice, "Mom talked to me about some things earlier, about us living together!"
Qin Tian was stunned upon hearing this, raised his hand to scratch his head, and laughed sheepishly, "What did she say?"
"I felt I couldn't hide it from Mom, so I confessed."
Xia Nuannuan said with a blushing face.
"Mm, and then? What did your mom say?"
Qin Tian was not surprised by this.
His future mother-in-law already possessed a heart of seven apertures and exquisite intelligence; he could clearly feel the changes in Xia Nuannuan's temperament and charm recently, let alone his future mother-in-law.
"Mom said she doesn't mind us living together; she doesn't object."
Xia Nuannuan replied.
Qin Tian immediately let out a sigh of relief, feeling as if a burden had been lifted, and mentally gave a frantic thumbs-up to his reasonable future mother-in-law.
"But..."
"But what?"
"It's just... that..."
Xia Nuannuan's small face flushed bright red, and she stammered, feeling too embarrassed to say it out loud.
"The issue of safety measures?"
Qin Tian had already guessed it and asked tentatively.
Xia Nuannuan glanced at him in surprise, then immediately turned her head away quickly and gave a small nod.
"We have always been careful about that, you can let Auntie rest assured."
Qin Tian said with a smile.
Except for the first time, they had been very careful afterwards.
"I told her, ahhh... let's not talk about this anymore. What vegetables should we buy? What are you planning to cook later?"
Xia Nuannuan suddenly shouted loudly and then forcibly changed the subject.
Qin Tian smiled and mentioned a few dish names, all of which were dishes she liked to eat.
"How come they are all things I like to eat? I'm already drooling. No, you have to make a few dishes that Uncle Qin and Auntie like too!"
Xia Nuannuan said with a beaming smile.
"Then we'll add two that my mom likes."
Qin Tian nodded, directly ignoring the "Uncle Qin" she had mentioned.
Xia Nuannuan curled her lips in amusement and asked, "What dishes does Uncle Qin like?"
"How would I know."
"Hmm... that local restaurant we ate at in Jiangcheng before, Uncle Qin seemed to really like that lotus root and pork rib soup. Shall we cook that?"
"Not cooking it."
"Why?"
"Pork ribs are so expensive now; it's already generous enough to let him come over for a free meal, why should I cook a special dish for him!"
"Then what if I want to eat garlic-flavored pork ribs?"
"Buy them, we'll buy three jin later!"
"Brother, how are you so skilled at having double standards?"
Xia Nuannuan couldn't help but roll her eyes.
The two of them went to the vegetable market together and began to stroll past the stalls one by one, carefully selecting various fresh vegetables.
"Boss, how much are these chili peppers?"
Qin Tian asked the proprietress standing behind the stall.
"One point three, seeing as you're such a handsome young man, let's make it one point two."
The proprietress replied with a face full of smiles.
Xia Nuannuan was carrying two bags of vegetables in one hand and holding Qin Tian's arm with the other; hearing this, a bright smile bloomed on her small face.
"Big sister, look, I'm very pretty too, how about you give us an even better price?"
She raised her right index finger to point at herself and said with her eyebrows curved.
The auntie selling the vegetables was delighted to be called "big sister" by such a young and cute beauty, and she waved her hand generously.
"Alright, then let's make it one, I won't make any money off you."
"Hee hee... thank you, big sister, you are truly generous and beautiful!"
Xia Nuannuan said with a smile, offering another round of flattery.
The auntie was once again coaxed into a beaming smile and even took the initiative to help them pick out fresh chili peppers.
