Chapter 100: Shopping

~8 min read 1,580 words

Jian Yining carried a few boxes of seafood in his left hand and some instant snacks and fruit in his right; he had originally brought them for Yingzi, but upon seeing Sheng Hanyu, his smiling face immediately vanished.

Sheng Hanyu gestured toward the opposite side: "It's too noisy over there, so I had no choice but to come here to find some peace and quiet."

Jian Yining casually placed the items in his hands onto the coffee table, ignored Sheng Hanyu's remark, and said to Yingzi: "Yingzi, since he's staying here, why don't you come over to my place? My mother likes you very much; she's been talking about you these past two days, asking why you haven't gone to see her. It's quite boring at home by herself, without even anyone to talk to... shall we go now?"

He was not usually an impatient person, but this time he was incredibly anxious.

After speaking, he didn't even wait for Yingzi to agree, pulling her along as he left.

Yingzi didn't want to go; Lady Jian was very nice, but it would be so strange to live in his house. What would she say if others asked?

It was easier said than done.

Just as she was about to refuse, Sheng Hanyu had already done so for her: "No, she cannot go live at your house; it wouldn't sound good for Yingzi's reputation."

Jian Yining laughed in anger: "Oh, it wouldn't sound good for her reputation if she lived at my house, but it sounds good for her reputation if you both live in my Villa? Hanyu Ge, don't forget, you are a married man, and you still have my sister in your heart. If this gets out, it will be even worse for Yingzi's reputation."

"But I am different. I don't have a girlfriend. As long as Yingzi doesn't object, I could immediately..."

"Let me see what food you brought?"

Yingzi interrupted Jian Yining and rushed over to look at the food.

Looking at the food was just an excuse; the main point was that she didn't want him to continue speaking.

He wisely shut his mouth and, as if presenting a treasure, took them out one by one to show Yingzi: "Spicy crab, the kind you like to eat."

"Spicy strips, from the manufacturer you like best."

"Apples, with the rock-sugar heart."

"Blueberries, to protect your eyes."

"French fries..."

Every single item was something Yingzi liked; he knew Yingzi's preferences better than he knew his own.

"Wow—that's great!"

"Mm-hmm, this is my favorite to eat."

One of them was like someone presenting a treasure with the snacks, and the other was as happy as a child.

Sheng Hanyu didn't make a sound the entire time; he thought these two were truly childish!

But seeing Jian Yining fawning over Yingzi made him unhappy.

He couldn't even say why, he just didn't want to see the two of them interacting.

"Are you two being childish?" he finally couldn't help but ask.

"Can't stand it?" Jian Yining smiled slightly: "If you can't stand it, go back to your own home, or if you think it's noisy, go stay in a hotel. Don't stay here."

Yingzi was Shi Youxuan, and the two of them were husband and wife in name.

Right now, Sheng Hanyu didn't know that Yingzi was the wife he had been searching for in vain. If they spent a long time together and feelings developed, and Yingzi told Sheng Hanyu her true identity, then he wouldn't have the slightest chance left.

Jian Yining felt a deep sense of crisis and had to find a way to prevent the two of them from being alone together.

Sheng Hanyu didn't know Jian Yining's true thoughts, but he had no intention of moving out either.

He lightly spat out a few words: "I own half of the Villa."

"Hey, you are really something!" Jian Yining grew anxious: "Since when do you own half of my Villa..."

Halfway through his sentence, he remembered.

The Villa was indeed built with his own funds, but the land belonged to Sheng Hanyu, so it really did belong half to him!

Jian Yining suddenly deflated; Yingzi also roughly understood what was going on—she couldn't drive Sheng Hanyu away, as he held half the property rights.

"I'll move out, I'll go stay in a hotel," Yingzi said.

Both men objected in unison: "No."

Yingzi's current identity was not suitable for staying in a hotel; the people of Jiangzhou were all watching her, and everyone knew she had money and ability, but there was no one by her side to protect her—it was too dangerous.

This wouldn't work, that wouldn't work; in the end, Jian Yining decided: "I'll move over too, the three of us living together will be lively."

Both of them liked peace and quiet and didn't like liveliness.

But they couldn't refuse; the house was Jian Yining's.

He did what he said, and he was swift and decisive, moving over that very day.

Calling it "moving house" was actually just making a phone call home to let them know, and that was it.

Sheng Hanyu's room was diagonally across from Yingzi's room, and Jian Yining insisted on living next door to Yingzi. Yingzi asked: "Are you serious?"

Next door was the gym; she didn't know how he planned to live there.

"Serious."

He nodded quite seriously and explained: "The room next to you is spacious and well-ventilated. I just like big rooms; the guest rooms are too small and feel stifling."

No sooner said than done, he asked Sheng Hanyu to help him move the mattress from the guest room over—he didn't even need a bed frame, just adding a small side table would do.

Likes big rooms?

That sounded nice, but in reality, it was just to stay next door to Yingzi to conveniently monitor the two of them. Jian Yining's petty schemes didn't escape their eyes, but neither Sheng Hanyu nor Yingzi had the heart for that right now.

With nothing to hide, they weren't afraid of his "supervision."

The mattress was quickly moved over, and Yingzi also brought him a new set of quilts and pillows.

Ever since the heavy rain last time, she had developed a lingering fear; no matter where she lived, she liked to keep a few extra sets of bedding on hand. She hadn't expected to use them so soon.

After getting settled, Jian Yining suggested excitedly: "Yingzi, will you accompany me to buy some clothes? I didn't even bring a change of clothes, and I need to buy some daily necessities as well."

Yingzi agreed: "Okay. Sheng Hanyu, are you coming too?"

"He's not going."

Jian Yining answered for Sheng Hanyu: "Shopping is the thing he hates most, bar none. He definitely won't go."

Sheng Hanyu: "I'm going." He originally didn't want to go, but seeing Jian Yining so guarded against him, he wanted to go.

"You..."

Jian Yining was furious, pointing his finger at Sheng Hanyu, wanting to say, "You did this on purpose, didn't you?"

If you didn't want to go shopping, why join in the fun!

But with Yingzi nearby, he couldn't ask directly, as it would make him look petty.

The three of them walked down the street, attracting a great deal of attention.

A plain-looking woman walking between two handsome men was even more eye-catching than a handsome man and a beautiful woman!

Sheng Hanyu was cold and cool; just one look from him made people's hearts go "thump-thump."

Jian Yining was even more extreme, with fair skin and exquisite features; even if just caught by the corner of his peach-blossom eyes, the beauties on the street would be so happy they could faint.

Sheng Hanyu was the same as usual, acting all high and mighty, ignoring everyone; even when beauties on the street winked at him, he looked straight ahead as if he hadn't seen them at all.

As for Jian Yining... he was even more oblivious to other women!

He was only good to Yingzi, holding an umbrella to shade her from the sun, handing her tissues and water bottles, and asking her if she was tired or needed a rest every few steps.

Yingzi: "I'm fine, you don't have to do this."

Jian Yining grinned: "This is our first time shopping together, I have to take good care of you, otherwise you won't want to come out next time."

Before Yingzi could speak, Sheng Hanyu interjected: "It's my first time shopping with you, too."

The smile on Jian Yining's face vanished instantly, and he immediately retorted indignantly: "Did I invite you? You'd be better off staying home; you have to come with us, you're an eyesore and a nuisance..."

Yingzi hurriedly smoothed things over, and only by changing the subject did it come to an end.

The three of them shopped until noon, and both men were carrying bags of all sizes, having made quite a haul!

It was just that most of it was bought by Yingzi, and they were only helping her carry it.

Usually, when men and women go shopping, everyone is used to the man paying the bill, but Yingzi hadn't developed this "good habit."

She insisted on paying for her own things and, not understanding the rules, even wanted to pay for the items the two men had bought, to the point that the sales clerks almost mistook the two super-handsome men for kept Xiaobai.
