Chapter 120: Under House Arrest by Sheng Hanyu
Sheng Hanyu arrived at the bedroom door and gently turned the lock with a key. The door was immediately pulled open from the inside, and a thin, frail figure "whooshed" out, crashing into his arms.
"You run quite fast, but you didn't pick the right direction." Sheng Hanyu paused, then added, "Perhaps it was intentional."
"Pah!"
The tiny person in his arms was struggling desperately, twisting and turning against him, yet she could not break free from the man's shackles no matter how hard she tried.
"Let go, let me go, let me go!"
It seemed that after regaining her identity, this "rowdy" Shi Youxuan was her true self. Sheng Hanyu found it interesting, but he did not let go; instead, he blocked her back into the room and closed the door.
"What do you want to do?"
Shi Youxuan stared at him vigilantly.
She had originally thought that upon returning, Sheng Hanyu would settle scores with her, but he hadn't. After returning, he just locked her in the room and ignored her. Was it now time for the final reckoning?
He walked to the wardrobe, pulled open the door, took out the teddy bear doll, and stuffed it into her arms: "Giving it back to you." Zai Zai was clean; one look and it was clear it had been carefully washed.
"Zai Zai."
She pressed her face against Zai Zai's, and two lines of tears instantly flowed down.
Having Zai Zai back after losing it—this feeling made Shi Youxuan even happier than earning a lot of money. Although it was just a doll, Zai Zai had accompanied her for over four years, and Shi Youxuan had deep feelings for it.
"Eldest Young Master, Eldest Young Mistress, dinner is served," the housekeeper said, standing respectfully at the door, her expression as usual, as if nothing had happened.
Sheng Hanyu asked, "Are you going to keep holding it and crying, or will you come back to cry after you finish dinner?"
Shi Youxuan laughed through her tears. She placed the doll in the middle of the bed and kissed Zai Zai on the forehead: "Be good, okay? Wait for me to come back and keep you company." After saying this, she walked toward the dining room.
Familiar with the path, everything was just as it had been before.
Even the taste of the food was as delicious as ever, with seafood making up the majority.
When Shi Youxuan lived here before, there was always seafood on the dining table. At the time, she was accustomed to it, thinking Sheng Hanyu liked to eat seafood, so the chef was used to making it.
It wasn't until she lived at the Jian Yining Villa that she realized Sheng Hanyu did not eat seafood at all; everything on the table had been prepared for her!
The seemingly cold Sheng Hanyu was actually meticulous.
The seemingly rigid and serious housekeeper was neither servile nor overbearing and had taken great care of her as well.
Shi Youxuan thought Sheng Hanyu would say something to her at the dinner table, but this guy didn't make a sound, remaining the same as usual.
It was as if her return wasn't a big deal at all. Shi Youxuan even had the illusion that she had never left; there wasn't a single ripple in the Villa!
Everyone just did what they were supposed to do, as if it had always been this way, which settled Shi Youxuan's anxious heart quite a bit.
After eating, she didn't need anyone to remind her and took the initiative to return to the bedroom.
Sheng Hanyu wouldn't let her leave easily; she had at least that much self-awareness.
She curled up in the corner holding the long-lost Zai Zai to think. Habits formed over many years were truly not easy to change; to this day, Shi Youxuan was still used to hiding in corners or wardrobes.
Sheng Hanyu entered from outside and saw exactly this scene.
He didn't turn on the lights either, sitting in front of her and staring at her. His hawk-like eyes shone in the dark night, as if they could see right into her heart!
"I didn't mean to hide it from you, I'm sorry," Shi Youxuan apologized.
Sheng Hanyu asked, "Why did you pretend to be a fool?"
No one would choose to live a perfectly good life and then be bored enough to pretend to be a fool for fun. Just like how he had once pretended to be blind, there were always unavoidable reasons.
He was a grown man; in order to avoid open arrows and hidden daggers, he had been forced to pretend to be blind and weak to hide his own strength.
The bitterness and difficulty in this were likely hard to understand without having experienced it personally!
Sheng Hanyu could understand Shi Youxuan, but at the same time, he felt shock and admiration.
He had only pretended not to see, and he had received so much unfair treatment and discrimination from all sides.
The little woman in front of him had pretended to be a fool, pretending to have the intelligence of a child of only a few years old, and she had kept it up for years. Yet, it hadn't stopped her from secretly learning so much knowledge and even building her own company... The difficulties she had experienced would only be more than his, not less.
She looked like a weak girl who couldn't withstand a gust of wind, yet she hid such great energy within her body. Sheng Hanyu's admiration for her now outweighed everything else.
But Shi Youxuan didn't know that; she only knew the man kept staring at her, making her heart flutter with panic!
Now that Sheng Hanyu asked, there was nothing she couldn't say about the reasons, so she told him everything that had happened to her in detail.
Their similar experiences resonated with Sheng Hanyu.
He asked, "Do you need help?"
Shi Youxuan shook her head: "No need, I can do it myself." So Sheng Hanyu didn't press further.
With her current status, position, and ability, she could indeed do many things she wanted to do and didn't need Sheng Hanyu's help at all.
The two fell into a brief silence, neither speaking, and the atmosphere was somewhat awkward for a moment.
It was completely dark outside, and it would soon be time to rest. As a married couple, should they sleep in the same room?
"Knock, knock, knock."
The door was knocked three times, and the housekeeper said from outside: "Eldest Young Master, Madam and Master have arrived. Would you like to go down and see them?"
"I won't see them."
Sheng Hanyu's brows furrowed into a knot: "Just say I'm not home."
Hadn't they already severed ties? What were they coming here for?
The housekeeper didn't leave, her tone very troubled: "Eldest Young Master, I think it would be better if you went down to see them. I just said you weren't home, but, but..."
She was not someone who spoke hesitantly; for her to be acting out of character now, she must have encountered something difficult.
Sheng Hanyu walked over and opened the door: "But what?"
The housekeeper steeled herself and revealed the situation downstairs: "Master and Madam brought their luggage; they said they want to live here."
No wonder she insisted he go down; so that was it.
He turned back to Shi Youxuan and said: "You rest, don't come out if there's nothing going on." After saying this, he closed the door and went out, also having someone stand guard at the door.
The living room downstairs.
Sheng Jiang crouched by the sofa, not even daring to sit on it.
In contrast, Wang Yingzhi appeared quite "imposing," sitting generously on the sofa, imperiously ordering the servant to juice fruit for her, fetch snacks, and even telling the cook to prepare a "midnight snack" for the two of them.
Calling it a "midnight snack" was actually just dinner.
The two of them hadn't eaten dinner, and they hadn't come out because she wanted to live with her son as she claimed, but because they had been kicked out of the Sheng Family by Bai Xue and had nowhere to live.
Ever since Bai Xue took her anger out on her last time, Wang Yingzhi had been bottling up a fire inside with nowhere to vent it.
It just so happened that Sheng Yukai brought a woman home, and Wang Yingzhi watched the spectacle with great interest; the next day, she went out and told others, mocking Bai Xue for not raising her son with enough virtue...
As luck would have it, this matter was passed around until it reached Bai Xue's ears, so she used this incident to pick a huge fight with Wang Yingzhi and then took the opportunity to kick the couple out.
The people were kicked out, but there was no mention of the family assets.
Relying solely on their own abilities to get back what belonged to them was impossible, so Wang Yingzhi once again proposed going to find their son.
This time Sheng Jiang did not object; although he felt guilty, there was no other way now, so Sheng Jiang braced himself and came with his wife.
