Chapter 1308: Qi Family's Little Sister 2

~8 min read 1,535 words

Shi Ran had no choice but to give in to his pestering, so she agreed.

After packing their things, the group left the hospital.

Just as they were about to walk out of the hospital gates, a Security Guard was dragging a thin, small girl along, scolding her as they walked: "Why are you here again? This isn't a hotel; don't come here to sleep, you hear me?"

"A hospital isn't a good place; it's full of germs. Isn't there anywhere else you can go? Why do you have to come here..."

"Qi Xiaomei?" Shi Ran deliberately turned her head to the side, hardening her heart and pretending not to see.

But she was still spotted by Qi Tian and a few of the younger brothers.

Sheng Zihan ran up to the Security Guard and blocked his path: "Let her go."

Seeing that the person blocking his way was also just a child, but dressed and carrying himself in a way that didn't look like an ordinary family's child, the Security Guard hesitated.

Looking further ahead, he saw Shi Ran and Yun Qitian.

He recognized these two; they were people he could not afford to offend.

So he let go of Qi Xiaomei and said to Sheng Zihan with a fawning smile: "Little Young Master, do you know her?"

Once released, Qi Xiaomei took off running.

The Sheng Family boys were faster than her and blocked her path: "Where are you running to?"

"Bad guys, your whole family are bad guys! You're not good people either! What are you doing at the hospital? Are you trying to harm my sister and brother-in-law?"

"Stop wasting breath on her. I'll give her a beating and see if she dares to harm people again!" Litian said, raising his fist. The little girl immediately hugged her head with both hands and squatted on the ground, shivering.

As she hugged her head, her sleeves slid down to her elbows, revealing patches of bruises on her forearms, as if she had been pinched.

And so, Sheng Litian's fist did not land!

"You were beaten? Who beat you?"

She did not answer, only continuing to hug her head and shiver.

Shi Ran glared at her younger brothers, told them to step back, helped the little girl up, and asked her: "Xiaomei, I am Ranran sister. Don't be afraid. Tell sister, what happened to the injuries on your body? Who hit you?"

"And why are you at the hospital? Do you have nowhere to go? Does Mother Feng not look after you?"

"No injuries, you saw wrong. Mother is very good to me. I came to the hospital, I came to the hospital..." Qi Shiwen's voice was as small as a mosquito's hum; she was panicked and incoherent.

Before she could finish her sentence, she tried to run.

But she was surrounded by the Sheng Family boys again: "My sister is talking to you, where are you running to?"

She immediately squatted on the ground again, hugged her head with both hands, and shivered.

Nothing more could be learned from Qi Xiaomei's mouth.

The Security Guard nearby provided the answer.

The Security Guard said this little girl had been coming here for a while; she would come to the hospital every day after school or on weekends.

At first, she would sit on the bench in the hallway, but later, seeing that people were paying attention to her, she hid in the outpatient infusion room to sit.

It seemed like no one looked after her; the clothes on her body were always dirty and did not fit well.

She wouldn't say anything when asked.

Before, when she came over, the Security Guard didn't drive her away.

Later, people often came to the security office to report missing items in the places where she stayed.

Only then did the Security Guard start driving her away, but every time he chased her off, she would sneak back in when he wasn't looking before long.

After finishing his explanation, the Security Guard wore a fawning smile and sought Shi Ran's opinion: "Mrs. Yun, since you know this child, I won't call the police then?"

"Mm, you don't need to worry about it anymore."

The couple looked at each other and saw the answer in each other's eyes.

The Sheng Family.

Seven people entered from outside.

At first, Shi Youxuan didn't recognize that thin, weak figure and asked with a smile: "Whose child is this? She looks so pitiful."

When she realized this "pitiful" child was Qi Shiwen, the smile on her face vanished.

"Zhang Ma, take her to bathe. Liu Jie, go to the children's clothing store in the neighborhood and buy this child a few outfits. Fang Jie, get her something to eat."

After giving the orders, she pulled her daughter back into the room and complained: "Are you simple-minded? Why did you bring her home?"

"Mom, I didn't want to do this either, but she is too pitiful. You didn't see..."

"There are many pitiful people; you can't pity them all. Don't forget the farmer and the snake, Master Dongguo and the wolf, and our family and the Qi Family."

Whenever Shi Youxuan mentioned the Qi Family, she was still furious.

That whole family were ingrates; they were pitiful when they were down on their luck, but as soon as they recovered, they would bite you!

And just biting you wasn't enough; they wanted to cling to you and drink the last drop of your blood!

If you didn't let them suck your blood, you were unforgivable.

Qi Heng's parents were like that back then, and later Qi Heng was the same. Now that Qi Xiaomei was implicated by her father and brother, why should their Sheng Family foot the bill?

Shi Youxuan said to her daughter: "Don't get involved in this matter. Let her leave after she bathes and eats. Our family won't make things difficult for her, but we won't take her in either."

Shi Ran nodded and agreed: "Okay, I will listen to Mom's arrangements."

"Mm, that's right."

Liu Jie soon bought the clothes back. Zhang Ma helped Xiaomei bathe and they came out of the bathroom; although she didn't say anything, her eyes were wet, as if she had been crying.

She led Xiaomei to the kitchen, where Fang Jie had already prepared the food and placed it on the small table in the kitchen.

Four dishes and one soup.

Braised pork, Dry-braised Fish, oyster sauce baby bok choy, spicy chicken, and a bowl of tomato egg soup.

There was also a large bowl of rice.

These dishes were the portion for two grown men, which Fang Jie had left for the gardener Lao Li and the driver Lao Huang.

The old madam likes flowers, and a flower house hundreds of miles away had newly cultivated a rose with nine colors, so Shi Youxuan instructed the gardener and the driver to head out early in the morning to buy it.

Fearing they wouldn't have time to eat on the road, Fang Jie set aside a few dishes.

As it turned out, they couldn't return in one day and had to wait over there, so Fang Jie brought the food out for the little girl.

"Thank you."

After expressing her thanks, she picked up the rice bowl and wolfed the food down; very quickly, all four dishes and one soup were finished, and even that large bowl of rice didn't have a single grain left.

No one expected that the little girl would eat all that food by herself.

The people in the kitchen were stunned.

Good heavens, such a small frame eating so much?

Where did it all go?

"Girl, don't overeat and make yourself sick, get up and walk around."

"Mm."

She stood up, went out, and said, "Thank you, I'm leaving."

"Can you find your way home?" Shi Youxuan was hard-mouthed but soft-hearted; she said she wouldn't care, yet she didn't fail to care about a single thing.

"I can!"

The answer was very certain.

Shi Youxuan did not keep her, but had someone follow her to see where she was going.

Qi Xiaomei left the residential compound and walked straight ahead.

There was no bus station ahead, nor was there any place to hail a taxi; a national highway led directly to the suburbs, which was the complete opposite direction from the address of the family she was fostered with.

Large trucks often traveled on the national highway, and it was very dangerous for a little girl to walk on it.

After hearing the report from her subordinate, Shi Youxuan sighed and ordered: "Bring her back."

The little girl was brought back, but she was in a sorry state.

She had just taken a bath, but she was filthy again, and the new clothes on her body were torn.

"What happened?" Shi Youxuan frowned.

The bodyguard, a big guy one meter eighty-nine tall, was panting and exasperated from exhaustion.

"Madam, this little girl must be a rabbit in disguise; she can run too fast. I told her to come back with me, and she took off running and dove into the cornfield next to the national highway."
