Chapter 243: The Happiest Home

~8 min read 1,533 words

The Jian Family.

The son has returned.

Lady Jian was so happy she simply didn't know what to do, pulling her son to his old room to let him rest first.

Then she had the servants go out to purchase the best ingredients and the freshest vegetables; she wanted to personally cook a family feast...

Mother was busy in the kitchen, Father was rushing back from the company, and his older sister, now a powerful career woman, had even taken off her high heels and put on Spring Shoes to follow the servants to buy groceries, all just to ensure he could eat something tasty.

The room was still kept as it was, exactly the same as it had been five years ago.

But it was very clean; one could tell it was cleaned often, and even the quilt had just been aired out, smelling of sunshine—it was very pleasant.

This was the smell of home; when Jian Yining hadn't returned, he hadn't felt it so strongly.

But now that he was home, he didn't want to leave, and he couldn't leave either.

His parents' enthusiasm made it impossible for him to refuse, especially Lady Jian, who seemed to want to make up for all the maternal love missing from these five years.

She fussed over her son, showing the utmost concern, not letting him do anything himself; she wished she could even feed him his meals and water!

Jian Yining was not used to it, but he could not refuse his mother's good intentions for fear of hurting her.

He could now understand his mother's feelings back then regarding her unconditional indulgence of his sister.

Standing from a different perspective, the way one views problems is different, and the feelings are different too.

At the time, he only felt his mother had no principles, couldn't distinguish right from wrong, and was an "accomplice" to Jian Yixin.

But now he could feel his mother's state of mind.

One was a biological daughter who had just returned home after coming back from the dead, and the other was an ordinary person he had good feelings for but was merely an acquaintance; standing from the mother's perspective, it was easy to understand why she made that choice.

Originally, he had planned to go home to see his parents and then return to Dingsheng to keep a strict watch.

But once he entered the house, it was hard to leave; Jian Yixin saw that her younger brother had something on his mind and looked restless.

She quietly asked him what was wrong.

He didn't tell her too much, only saying he needed to see Sheng Hanyu and had very important matters he wanted to discuss with him in person.

Jian Yixin said, "But it's useless for you to go to the company yourself to wait; you'll just be wasting time. How about this: I'll have people watch the entrance of Dingsheng, and as soon as they return, they'll call us immediately, and then you can go over right away. How about that?"

This idea was acceptable.

Jian Yining agreed; it was just as well that he could accompany his family at home instead of sitting idly at the company waiting for a rabbit to hit a tree.

Jian Yixin made the call in front of him; she arranged things very thoroughly, placing people near every entrance of Dingsheng, waiting for "Sheng Hanyu's" car to return, and instructing them to call immediately as soon as they saw the car.

As it turned out, this wait lasted until evening!

Jian Yining was almost out of patience, even preparing to go to the inspection site to find him personally.

At this moment, the phone rang; it was news that "Sheng Hanyu" had returned, but he was not at the company, but at the hospital.

"How could he be at the hospital?" Jian Yixin spoke with the person on the other end.

Jian Yining's first reaction was that it was fake, a false message deliberately released by Sheng Hanyu because he didn't want him to expose his secret.

Jian Yixin hung up the phone, her expression solemn: "A Ning, I'm afraid you won't be able to see him for these next few days; Hanyu has been in a car accident."

"Impossible, he has a tough life; playing tricks is one thing, but he could actually put himself in the hospital?" Jian Yining didn't believe it.

Jian Yixin said, "I want to go take a look; are you coming?"

"Yes."

The two of them rushed to the hospital, where Yun Zhe Hao was sitting on a bench outside the operating room.

His clothes were filthy, covered in dirt and mud, and there was blood on his forehead, though it had been simply bandaged with gauze.

"A Hao, how is Hanyu?" Jian Yixin was very anxious.

Yun Zhe Hao saw the two of them and answered her first: "Don't worry, it shouldn't be anything major; it's just a concussion and a fractured lower leg. He's having a small surgery, it won't take long."

Then he stepped forward two paces, not caring about his own mud-covered clothes, and hugged Jian Yining directly: "A Ning, you're back? That's great! Now that you're back, don't leave again, okay? Once Hanyu's injuries heal, let's have a good drink."

Jian Yining patted his clothes in disgust; he suspected Yun Zhe Hao was lying.

Their relationship wasn't that good, and the enthusiasm he displayed was a bit forced.

"Fine, we'll drink once he comes out."

Jian Yining stood guard at the door and told Yun Zhe Hao, "Brother Hao, go back, take a shower, and get some rest. I'm here, don't worry."

Yun Zhe Hao thought to himself that it was precisely because you were here that he couldn't worry.

But since everything was prepared for him, he readily agreed: "Alright, then I'll head back first... but it's not really appropriate to have you take care of a patient just after you've returned, is it?"

"It's appropriate; we are brothers, there's nothing inappropriate about it. Go on, go on."

Under Jian Yining's urging, Yun Zhe Hao left.

Jian Yixin couldn't sit still from anxiety, pacing back and forth in the hallway.

Jian Yining tried to persuade her: "Sister, come and sit down. That Sheng Hanyu is a thousand-year-old pest; he'll be fine."

In reality, he didn't believe at all that the person inside was Sheng Hanyu; perhaps there wasn't even anyone there, and it was just a ruse to create the illusion that he was in Jiangzhou for him to see.

Jian Yining wasn't stupid.

If that person in L Country was Sheng Hanyu, as long as he left, Sheng Hanyu would immediately be able to guess his purpose.

The journey from L Country to Jiangzhou took fifteen hours; with so much time having passed, what kind of plan couldn't he have come up with?

The more he couldn't see the person, the more Jian Yining was convinced that Alisha was Sheng Hanyu in disguise.

Yun Zhe Hao had just left.

Sheng Hanyu's housekeeper and aunt came over.

The two elderly women were incredibly anxious, taking turns asking Jian Yining.

"Young Master Jian, is my Eldest Young Master's injury serious?"

Jian Yining nodded: "Serious; it's not certain he'll be able to be saved."

Heaven and conscience be my witness, he didn't mean this sincerely.

It was only because she was certain the person inside was not Sheng Hanyu that she intentionally said that to vent her spite.

But the housekeeper and the aunt believed it.

"Eldest Young Master!" The housekeeper cried out, then collapsed limply to the ground, fainting away.

"Doctor, doctor!"

The aunt called loudly for a doctor, Jian Yixin also hurriedly ran out to find one, and Jian Yining was dumbfounded.

He thought to himself, do you all have to act so realistically?

If Sheng Hanyu had not been in Jiangzhou all along, Yun Zhe Hao, the housekeeper, and his aunt would all know; they were all "accomplices."

Now that the housekeeper had fainted, for the first time, Jian Yining's firm conviction wavered—could he have misunderstood?

Was Alisha just similar to Sheng Hanyu in her gaze and the way her back looked?

Was she just Alisha?

Before he could think much more, the doctor had already arrived.

They also brought a nurse, and the nurse brought a blood pressure monitor.

Everyone helped her onto a bench to lie down, and the blood pressure was measured—systolic 190, diastolic 130!

The doctor immediately arranged for someone to put the housekeeper on an IV drip; they couldn't even move her, so an IV stand was brought over to the side of the bench, and the infusion started immediately.

Jian Yining had studied medicine, only later abandoning medicine for business.

He knew what such high blood pressure meant, and he also knew the doctor's treatment plan was completely correct.

He began to regret it, regretting that his casual nonsense just now had caused the housekeeper's blood pressure to skyrocket!

And in his heart, he began to believe a little more that the person inside was indeed Sheng Hanyu.

"Sigh!"

Once the IV was running, the housekeeper finally woke up slowly.
