Chapter 26: Enemies on a Narrow Road
Sheng Hanyu led people walking straight toward the place where Shi Youxuan was standing; she subconsciously wanted to dodge, but still braced herself and didn't move.
Everyone was looking at Sheng Hanyu; if she dodged at this moment, it would appear too abrupt!
Shi Youxuan raised her head and, just like everyone else, looked at Sheng Hanyu.
Watching him walk toward her, getting closer and closer.
Ten meters, eight meters, five meters, three meters, one meter... and then brushed past!
"Whew—"
Shi Youxuan secretly let out a long breath; that was close, she almost gave herself away.
She prepared to drink a glass of fruit juice to calm her nerves, but Jiang Siwei came over from behind and snatched the glass from her hand: "Whose family are you from? Why haven't I seen you before?"
Shi Youxuan complained in her heart: Not having seen me means you are blind in your eyes and blind in your heart too!
Jiang Siwei had just lost face in front of Sheng Hanyu and was determined to regain it from Shi Youxuan; seeing that there was no reaction after snatching her glass, her courage grew even more.
"Hey, I'm talking to you, are you deaf and can't hear me?" Jiang Siwei was arrogant, with her usual inexplicable confidence.
Shi Youxuan said softly: "I heard you, I just don't want to bother with you."
"Stinking woman, what are you acting so high and mighty for?"
Jiang Siwei put down the glass filled with fruit juice and raised her palm high to slap her, but Shi Youxuan quickly picked up the glass and splashed it onto her face—"Swish!"
The orange-yellow orange juice all splashed onto Jiang Siwei's face, the juice dripping down, landing on her white evening gown, the color looking disgusting.
"Ah—"
Jiang Siwei's sharp voice resounded throughout the entire hall.
Afterward, she swung the raised palm fiercely toward Shi Youxuan's face, but Shi Youxuan suddenly leaned back and dodged it.
But Jiang Siwei's extended hand could not be pulled back, and she slapped the tall glass juice container; the container fell onto the table and knocked over seven or eight plates, and the beautifully styled cake instantly turned into a pile of trash!
"My god! Who is this woman? Too much."
"Supposedly surnamed Jiang, Shi Yuke's cousin."
"Coming from a small, humble family, no wonder she can't be brought out in public."
"Security Guard, why hasn't such a person been kicked out yet? Even we are being embarrassed along with her; having this kind of person here really lowers the class of the cocktail party..."
Just now, when Jiang Siwei wanted to pick a fight, these people all held the mentality of watching the fun and pretended not to see.
Now that they saw her lose face, they popped out one by one, scrambling to criticize, showing off their own nobility and disdain for small, humble families!
Shi Yuke's face turned red and white; she had just started talking to Jian Yining when Jiang Siwei caused such a scene.
Jian Yining's expression was very unpleasant, and Shi Yuke hurriedly apologized: "I'm sorry, I was the one who brought her in, it's all my fault, I'll go take her away right now."
Jiang Siwei would definitely be kicked out; rather than being kicked out by a Security Guard, it was better for her to step forward, as this could show she had a sense of responsibility and didn't shirk it!
Her tactic of retreating to advance worked well; not only Jian Yining, but even the Jian Family parents' impression of Shi Yuke instantly improved.
Jian Yining said: "Then I will trouble Miss Shi."
Shi Yuke smiled: "Jian Xiansheng, don't be polite, this is what I should do."
Having earned a good impression, she then lifted her skirt and walked gracefully toward the two of them.
While Shi Yuke was talking, Jiang Siwei hadn't been idle and was still frantically testing the limits of courting death.
Jiang Siwei hadn't gained any advantage but instead suffered a loss and was mocked; she was furious, opened both hands, and with sharp fingers, clawed toward Shi Youxuan's face!
Shi Youxuan dodged, and her right foot seemingly unconsciously stepped on her floor-length skirt; Jiang Siwei once again lunged at empty air, her body lunging forward—"Rip," the dress tore from the waist.
"Whoosh—"
Everyone burst into loud laughter; even her underpants could be seen, and Jiang Siwei had really lost face this time.
Shi Yuke was in a dilemma.
If she went over to pull Jiang Siwei away now, more people would know they were together, and Shi Yuke couldn't afford to lose that face.
If she didn't care, she had just left a good impression in front of Jian Yining, and perhaps he was watching right now.
She hesitated, but Shi Youxuan had already pulled a tablecloth from the table, quickly wrapped it around Jiang Siwei's waist, and then pushed her in front of Shi Yuke: "You two are together, right? I'm handing her over to you."
After finishing, she turned and left.
"Don't you leave, I'll kill you!" Jiang Siwei still wanted to be relentless.
But she was grabbed by Shi Yuke, who scolded in a low voice: "Hurry up and leave, do you think today isn't embarrassing enough?"
Shi Yuke was almost angry to death; just a moment ago she had only hesitated slightly, and she had let that woman take advantage and act virtuous, picking up a good deed for nothing.
She was even more annoyed at why she hadn't thought of the trick of tearing off the tablecloth to use as a modesty cloth just now?
A matter that should have been a chance to show her face had been snatched away by someone else; Shi Yuke was in a terrible mood, and Jiang Siwei was still being disobedient, cursing incessantly with a foul mouth!
Jiang Siwei's behavior wouldn't have mattered much in normal times, but the people attending the cocktail party today were all either wealthy or noble; the young ladies of prominent families hadn't seen such things, and they couldn't help but point fingers, dragging Shi Yuke into it as well.
Shi Yuke took Jiang Siwei out of the hotel, and the cocktail party slowly calmed down.
The waiter cleaned up the mess on the floor, and Jian Yining found Shi Youxuan in a corner: "Why are you hiding here?"
"I'm used to it."
She was telling the truth; from childhood to adulthood, if it weren't for her excellent hiding skills, Shi Youxuan didn't know how many losses she would have suffered.
Jian Yining just thought she was joking and said apologetically: "I'm sorry, Yingzi, I didn't take care of you just now, are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Shi Youxuan smiled.
Music started in the hall, and the dance began.
Jian Yining invited her like a gentleman: "May I ask this young lady, do you have the courage to dance the first dance with me now?"
Usually, for the first dance at a cocktail party, the host would invite the most important person to them to dance, such as a mother, a wife, or a girlfriend.
If Shi Youxuan agreed, then it would be equivalent to admitting to everyone that the two were in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship.
She had already attracted much attention just by walking in while holding Jian Yining's arm; if the two danced the first dance together, there was no telling how many women would be envious, jealous, and hateful toward Shi Youxuan!
"Of course you can," she agreed.
It wasn't that she had the guts, but rather that she had no idea such an unwritten rule existed!
Just as Shi Youxuan's onion-white fingers were about to be placed on Jian Yining's hand, someone suddenly cut in between them: "Miss, our Eldest Young Master invites you over; he has a few words to ask."
"Who is your Eldest Young Master? Does he know the rules? Tell him if he has something to say, he can come over and tell me himself," Jian Yining said, very displeased.
The man announced the name: "My Eldest Young Master is Sheng Hanyu, and he invites you to come over as well."
Jian Yining's imposing manner immediately shrank by half.
Jian Yining pushed open the door to the private room, his face full of smiles: "Hanyu Ge, long time no see. I heard you were recently married; did you not bring your wife along this time?"
He was touching a sore spot.
The bodyguard's face showed his dilemma; the Eldest Young Master had said to bring two people, but Second Young Master Jian had insisted on coming over himself, and he had no way to stop him.
Sheng Hanyu waved his hand to dismiss the bodyguard and closed the door.
With only the two of them left in the room, he got straight to the point: "The woman who went to Ginza for the negotiations is the same woman who was with you just now, isn't she?"
"No."
Jian Yining denied it and even turned the tables: "Hanyu Ge, even if you hadn't come to me about this matter, I would have come to you. Why go through such a big circle to say that Dingsheng was founded by you? Between us brothers, what is there that we can't sit down and talk about slowly?"
