Chapter 368: Visiting Shi Yuke at the Psychiatric Hospital
Shi Youxuan bought food and fresh flowers and went to the hospital.
She went to the nurse's station to explain her purpose. As soon as the nurse heard she was there to see Shi Yuke, she immediately looked her up and down with disdain: "Who are you to her?"
Shi Youxuan said: "I am her younger sister."
The nurse was puzzled: "She has a younger sister? I've never heard her mention one... Oh, a cousin, right? She does have a cousin who has been here a few times, but this is the first time I've seen you."
"I've been abroad for the past few years and just returned," Shi Youxuan explained lightly.
Only then did the nurse point inside: "Go straight, turn left, and it's the room at the very end. Don't go to the wrong one."
"Thank you."
Although the nurse's attitude was a bit strange, she didn't think much of it and walked inside carrying the items.
It was similar to a nursing home here, with each person having a separate room; the difference was that there were bars on the windows of the corridors and rooms.
The environment here was actually quite good; the corridor was clean and tidy, and there was a small garden outside where many people in hospital gowns were moving about.
Everyone else was doing their own thing, but in the middle of the garden, a group of men were fawning over one person. Shi Youxuan didn't see clearly who was surrounded in the middle, nor was she interested in knowing.
Arriving at the door of Shi Yuke's room, she stood at the entrance to compose herself and then knocked—"Knock, knock, knock."
There was no sound inside.
She knocked a few more times in succession, and this time there was a response.
The door next door opened, and a woman stuck her head out and said discontentedly: "Who are you looking for? If there's no answer when you knock, it means they aren't in the room. Why do you keep knocking? You're disturbing my sleep."
Shi Youxuan apologized: "I'm sorry, I disturbed your sleep. May I ask where Shi Yuke might have gone if she isn't in her room?"
Upon hearing that she was looking for Shi Yuke, the female patient immediately revealed an expression similar to the nurse's: "So you're looking for her? She's in the garden. Look, that one surrounded by everyone is her."
Shi Youxuan stood at the edge of the garden.
No one noticed her; everyone was playing on their own, and those men were continuing to fawn over Shi Yuke.
Shi Yuke sat on a stone bench in the garden, head held high, like a Queen!
She maintained a graceful smile while a male patient in a hospital gown recited a love poem to her, expressing his affection.
The others seemed to be waiting in line, all waiting to "confess" to Shi Yuke.
After this man finished reciting his love poem, Shi Yuke blew him a light flying kiss, and the male patient immediately jumped for joy...
In the end, Shi Youxuan did not go to disturb her, but instead left the items at the nurse's station and departed.
It seems some people never change in their entire lives, just like someone like Shi Yuke.
Even at this point, she still wasn't lacking men to revolve around her!
Although her mind wasn't normal, her happiness index didn't seem to have decreased because of it.
Shi Yuke's ultimate goal was to have men revolve around her!
Everyone liked her and loved only her.
However, she hadn't dared to be this flamboyant before, because she had intended to marry into a wealthy family. Although her ideal was for all men to like her, being too flamboyant would have affected her reputation.
But now it didn't matter; she was finally being herself!
Shi Youxuan left the psychiatric hospital and drove home.
While waiting at a red light on the road, there happened to be a housekeeping agency by the side of the road. Should she go find a nanny?
After considering it for a dozen seconds, the green light turned on, and Shi Youxuan drove away.
She told herself to forget it; it was better to find a nanny whose background she knew well. If she just found someone unreliable from the outside market, she wouldn't even have time to cry when things went wrong.
After arriving home, there was no one in the house.
Shi Youxuan thought Sheng Hanyu had taken the child to play downstairs. He lived downstairs, so perhaps they were at his place.
She hadn't slept much last night, so it was a good time to catch up on sleep while the child wasn't home.
The winter sunlight shone in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, feeling warm and particularly comfortable on her body!
Shi Youxuan decided not to go back to her room and planned to take a nap on the sofa.
Just as she lay down, her phone vibrated twice. It was a message from Sheng Hanyu—Xuanxuan, I've taken Ranran to the hospital.
Gone to the hospital?
Why would they go to the hospital when everything was fine?
Shi Youxuan's sleepiness instantly vanished into thin air. She hurriedly called Sheng Hanyu: "Which hospital are you at? Why did you go to the hospital? What happened to Ranran?"
Sheng Hanyu: "We are at the Central Hospital, getting an MRI. Ranran just vomited, but Xuanxuan, don't worry, there's nothing else wrong..."
She didn't wait for him to finish, hung up the phone, and ran out, not even grabbing her coat.
Her mind was filled with only a few words: "Ranran just vomited"!
She had vomited, yet he still said there was nothing wrong. Would they be getting an MRI if there was nothing wrong?
Shi Youxuan drove the car at high speed the whole way, and after Sheng Hanyu had his call hung up on, he didn't call back.
When she arrived at the MRI section of the Central Hospital, the father and daughter were no longer there. Just as Shi Youxuan was about to call him to ask where they were, a notification sounded at the CT report collection area: "Number 26, Shi Ran, collect test report."
So she went to the collection room to get the report. When the report was in her hands, Shi Youxuan took one look at the results and felt as if she had been struck by a bolt of lightning; her vision went black, and she almost fainted!
The small line of text at the bottom of the test report: Significant tumors present in both sides of the brain; malignancy is preliminarily suspected.
To Shi Youxuan, this short line of text was like the scythe of the Grim Reaper, hacking fiercely at her heart, shattering it into pieces.
No, this cannot be.
Her Ranran was only a little over five years old; her life had just begun and had infinite possibilities. How could she have such an illness?
Shi Youxuan was unwilling to believe it, but the black and white text on the report was clear, and she had no choice but to believe it.
"Ring-ring—" The phone call was from Sheng Hanyu.
She answered, and before she could speak, the person on the other end said: "Xuanxuan, where have you reached? We couldn't spare the time to call you while we were doing the test earlier. Once you arrive at the hospital, come directly to the Hematology Department."
"Okay, I am at the place where the MRI is being done, I'll be right over." She tried her best to keep her voice calm, so it wouldn't sound sad.
Ranran must be with Sheng Hanyu right now, and if Sheng Hanyu could act like nothing was wrong, she had to do the same!
If a child is sick, treat her; she must not be allowed to see any clues or have any psychological burden.
Women are inherently weak, but mothers are strong.
Shi Youxuan's heart was already in turmoil, but Sheng Hanyu did not know; hearing that Shi Youxuan was at the MRI location, he asked her to pick up Ranran's CT scan report while she was there.
"Mm, I have already picked up the report." Shi Youxuan's nose felt sore, and tears fell again.
Sheng Hanyu: "That's great, then just come over."
"Okay."
She agreed, left that place, and took the elevator upstairs to the Hematology Department.
Shi Ran was lying on the hospital bed, already changed into a hospital gown, and Sheng Hanyu was not there!
"Mom, why did you just get here?" Shi Ran acted spoiled with her mother: "The doctor said I'm fine now, but I have to stay in the hospital for observation for a few days. Dad went to ask for leave for me, Mom, you stay and keep me company."
"Okay, Mom will stay with you."
Shi Youxuan kissed her daughter's forehead, and tears almost fell again.
The little girl was innocent and naive; she did not yet know she had a serious illness and still thought it was just hospital observation... Shi Youxuan's heart ached terribly.
But no matter how much her heart ached, she could not show it in front of her daughter.
She stood up from the hospital bed and looked around the environment of the Hospital Ward.
The environment was impeccable; it was a high-end Hospital Ward, decorated no worse than a five-star hotel.
There was not only a television but also a computer.
Shi Youxuan asked her daughter in a soft voice if she wanted to watch cartoons.
She also suggested playing computer games with her.
