Chapter 5: There Is Always Someone Better
The housekeeper went out.
A smile of success hung on Shi Youxuan's greasy little face; through the mirror of the vanity, she looked at her own hands and face with disgust, then locked the door and went to the bathroom to shower.
The hot water flowed from the showerhead onto her snow-white skin, warmth filling every pore, which was especially comfortable.
Shi Youxuan closed her eyes contentedly and hummed a tune, thinking about having a nice sleep after her shower and contacting Jian Yining when she woke up tomorrow morning.
Just now at the dinner table, although she had buried her head in eating, she had captured every single expression of the housekeeper, the servants, and the bodyguards without missing a thing.
They were full of disdain and contempt for her!
On the contrary, the Eldest Young Master was expressionless, making it impossible to see what he was thinking inside.
But this was not important; what was important was that Shi Youxuan believed that for a very long time, no one would come to disturb her, and the things she wanted to do would soon be realized.
After a comfortable shower, she wrapped herself in a bath towel and walked out of the bathroom.
"Ah—"
She let out a startled cry and blurted out: "Why are you here? How did you get in?"
Sheng Hanyu sat openly on the bed and said unhurriedly: "This is our bridal chamber, and you are my bride. Should you be this surprised to see me?"
Shi Youxuan quickly realized she had lost her composure and immediately gave a "silly" laugh, clapping her hands as she said: "Fun, fun! I locked the door and you still got in, Brother, you are so amazing... teach me how you did it, okay..."
The little woman was endearingly naive; to put it nicely, it was called innocent, but in reality, she was just a fool, exactly the same as the information the bodyguards had investigated.
But Sheng Hanyu was very patient with her, picking up the key beside him and holding it up: "It's very simple, with this, it's possible."
Shi Youxuan almost broke character, the smile on her face barely maintained, while she cursed Sheng Hanyu to pieces in her heart: Crafty, annoying, hateful, shameless... Is having a key something to be proud of? Entering someone else's room without their consent, you psycho!
Clearly, her thoughts were not the same as Sheng Hanyu's; Shi Youxuan had already preemptively claimed this territory as her own, without the slightest awareness of sharing it with Sheng Hanyu.
Sheng Hanyu asked indifferently: "Did you shower?"
"Mm."
Shi Youxuan reflexively hugged her shoulders, almost blurting out a question of what he wanted to do; her beautiful little face was full of tension.
Although she had married in voluntarily, Shi Youxuan had no intention of having any physical contact with Sheng Hanyu, just wanting an excuse to leave the Shi Family without arousing Jiang Yadan's suspicion.
If she were a "normal" girl, such an idea would clearly be unrealistic, but since she was an "idiot," such an idea was very fitting for reality.
Shi Youxuan believed that as long as she used a little trick, she would be loathed by Sheng Hanyu and left aside, ignored and unattended.
It was just that the way things were developing seemed a bit different from what she had expected!
"Go run the water and serve me while I bathe." Sheng Hanyu's tone remained indifferent, yet left no room for negotiation.
Shi Youxuan was not very willing, but she had no reason to refuse, and she was even more afraid that saying too much would reveal clues and be seen through by Sheng Hanyu.
He was only blind, not stupid!
And as for herself being "stupid," the persona of a fool had to be obediently followed so it wouldn't collapse.
"Okay, I'll go run the water and bathe you."
Shi Youxuan skipped back into the bathroom, turned on the faucet to let cold water splash into the tub until it was half full, and then poured an entire bottle of shower gel into it.
"Brother, you can't see, I'll help you." She eagerly helped Sheng Hanyu up and went to the bathroom.
The man's brows furrowed slightly; she called him "Brother"?
This form of address was very strange; although it sounded very intimate, Sheng Hanyu didn't like it at all, especially hearing it called out from this little woman's mouth.
