Chapter 622: Bringing the Parents-in-Law Back Home

~8 min read 1,495 words

"The master is at home too, so don't be shy, come back with me." She insisted, pulling Wang Yinghao toward the outside.

"Hey, don't pull me..."

Wang Yinghao was forcibly dragged into the car by Fang Jie and brought back.

After arriving home, the ones greeting him were the two children.

Sheng Zichen trotted over to his grandmother on his short little legs: "Grandma, miss, me."

What he wanted to say was "Grandma, I miss you very much." But the way he expressed it turned into "Grandma misses me."

Regardless of who missed whom, the moment Wang Yinghao saw her grandson, all her concerns about "being too embarrassed to see the family" and "having no face to enter this home" vanished completely.

She held her grandson tightly in her arms; the soft, fragrant little fellow filled all the emptiness of these past few days.

During the time they had moved out.

Sheng Jiang would not let her take the initiative to contact her grandson, would not even let her make a phone call, and certainly would not let her come home to see the children.

Every day he took her to attend so-called gatherings, drinking parties, house parties...

Socializing with so-called ladies and wives, talking about things she had absolutely no interest in.

Such days looked glamorous on the surface, but in reality, they were exhausting—mostly, it was mental exhaustion!

She didn't like it at all, but in order to make her husband happy and fulfill his so-called "wife diplomacy," she had no choice but to do it.

But after their family ran into trouble, the ladies who once called her sister were the first to turn their backs on her.

Those people were the first to show up at her door, urging her to pay back money, watching her for fear she would run away.

It was also the first time Wang Yinghao witnessed what it meant to turn one's face faster than flipping a book!

She had tasted all the warmth and coldness of human relationships and the fickleness of the world in these few days, and therefore missed the beautiful times when the whole family was together even more.

Yet she only missed it; she had no face to take the initiative to return.

Now that her grandson was back in her arms, Wang Yinghao stopped thinking about all her concerns; she just wanted to hold the little fellow well and kiss him.

"Grandma, I've drawn your bathwater. Would you like to take a bath first or eat first?" Shi Ran asked gently.

The little girl was very sensible; she didn't say a single word that might embarrass her grandmother, just as if she had never left, saying only the things she used to say when her grandmother took care of her.

"Food, eat food, together!"

Before Wang Yinghao could speak, Sheng Zichen had already decided.

The little fellow's eyes lit up the moment he heard "eat."

"You get down, Sister will take you to watch the sheep eat grass, let Grandma eat, you are not allowed to eat!" Shi Ran ordered.

Sheng Zichen had actually just eaten, but his eyes still lit up when he heard about food.

"I won't!"

The little fellow wrapped his two chubby little arms around his grandmother's neck and wouldn't let go; Grandma was back, and he had confidence now.

He was even bolder when talking back to his sister: "Accompany Grandma, Grandma good, Sister bad, you, eat grass."

Shi Ran: "Why are you so unreasonable? Isn't it better to let Grandma eat in peace? Before, every time we ate, Grandma would take care of you first, and only then could she eat."

"You were clearly full just now, yet you still want to pester Grandma; it's too outrageous."

Sheng Zichen was not yet two years old; he shouldn't be able to understand reasoning.

But he understood; he let go of his grandmother, slid down, and obediently took his sister's hand: "Watch sheep eat, baby, no, want to eat."

As he spoke, he looked incredibly aggrieved, his little mouth pouted twice, but in the end, he didn't cry.

Wang Yinghao watched this scene, pleasantly surprised.

She hadn't been gone long, but Sheng Zichen had made a lot of progress.

All of this was thanks to Shi Youxuan's good upbringing; usually, it looked like she didn't care about anything, but in fact, she managed everything at the critical nodes.

Shi Youxuan educated the children without being overly fussy, yet the effect was surprisingly good.

After Wang Yinghao finished eating, Shi Youxuan came down from upstairs.

Like the children, she didn't deliberately show a welcoming or enthusiastic attitude, just asked her mother-in-law as usual: "Mom, have you eaten? I happen to have something to discuss with you and Dad; would you like to take a bath first or shall we talk about it first?"

"You should go take a bath first; I'll watch TV and wait for you." After saying this, she sat on the sofa and turned on the TV with the remote control.

None of the things Wang Yinghao worried about happened; there was no gloating, no sarcasm, only seemingly casual thoughtfulness and concern.

This feeling was very comfortable; this was how a family should truly be.

"Okay."

She went upstairs to her room.

Sheng Jiang was very happy to see his wife had been brought back: "A Hao, you're back? You said Xuanxuan let us come back, do you think she will help me get through this difficult time?"

Wang Yinghao:...

She told her husband to dispel this thought as soon as possible.

One cannot be too excessive; if someone helps you, you must be grateful; you cannot say that just because someone helped you once, you should simply push all your troubles onto them and become a burden to others.

The little flame of hope in Sheng Jiang's heart was extinguished.

After Wang Yinghao came out from her bath, she reminded her husband again not to make any excessive demands when he saw their daughter-in-law later, so as not to be refused and lose face.

Sheng Jiang said: "It won't happen. Just now, Xuanxuan agreed very readily to help me find Chairman Zhu, which shows I misunderstood her before; she should be able to help me this time."

Shi Youxuan, downstairs, could never have imagined that her kindness had once again been over-interpreted.

Wang Yinghao firmly disagreed.

Her attitude this time was very firm; she did not follow her husband's temperament and let him act recklessly again.

The two argued upstairs for a while, but in the end, Wang Yinghao gained the upper hand.

Shi Youxuan had finished watching an episode of a TV series in the living room before the couple finally came out of their room.

She handed Sheng Jiang a small piece of paper with a number on it: "Dad, I asked A Ning to contact Zhu Xingye; this is his new number."

"Thank you, Xuanxuan, thank you!"

Holding this small slip of paper, Sheng Jiang was incredibly excited, as if all the money he had been swindled out of had been recovered.

He did not make the call in front of Shi Youxuan, but instead thanked her and took it straight back to his room.

Shi Youxuan said to her mother-in-law, "Mom, would you like to go up and keep an eye on Dad? I'm afraid that after he makes the call, the reality might not match his expectations, and he won't be able to accept it."

"Alright, then I'll go up."

"Mm."

So, the reason Shi Youxuan had sought them out was for this very matter.

When Wang Yinghao returned to the room, Sheng Jiang had already re-established contact with Zhu Xingye.

Sheng Jiang: "Chairman, it's me."

Zhu Xingye: "I know. This is the last time I will contact you. What I want to tell you is that a person's fate is determined by the kind of person they are; someone like you is naturally unsuited for business."

"In the past, you complained to me, saying that when your father was alive, he suppressed you, didn't cultivate you, and that your son grew up and wouldn't listen to you, even restricting you from doing business. In fact, they were all right."

"If the Sheng Family had been handed over to you, let alone developing and growing, it would have been swindled down to the last penny long ago..."

The Chairman's voice had not changed, but his tone made Sheng Jiang feel completely estranged.

Something was wrong; he hadn't spoken like this before.

"Chairman, you didn't say it like this before. Why is it different now?" Even now, Sheng Jiang was still unwilling to believe that he had been swindled by Zhu Xingye.

Zhu Xingye: "Do you still not understand now? I approached you just to use you. I had my eye on your son's ability and the several major groups behind him; swindling them was my ultimate goal..."
