Chapter 632: Sibling Conflict 1
"Stop right there."
Shi Ran called out to her younger brother and asked him, "Did you take Qi Heng's notebook and Hallucinogenic Pen?"
"No, no, no..."
The little fellow shook his head like a rattle-drum, immediately denying it, and very firmly stated that he hadn't taken them and hadn't even seen them at all.
"Fine, don't let me catch you, or you'll be sorry." Shi Ran turned around and went into her brother's room to search.
Qi Heng persuaded her, "Don't be like this. Zichen said he didn't take them, so we should believe him."
Shi Ran said, "You don't know my brother. Based on my understanding of him, he definitely took them. And if we don't find them this time, I guarantee you'll lose even more next time."
Qi Heng still felt it wasn't quite right and suggested telling their aunt instead of rummaging through things themselves, as it was too impolite.
While they were talking, Shi Ran had already searched every place she could—nothing!
Politeness is for outsiders.
As for her own brother, what politeness? If Shi Ran were "polite" to Sheng Zichen, he would be able to climb to the heavens!
"Wah—"
The little fellow had found his justification now and went off crying to complain.
"Mom, Sister is bad, she's chasing Baobao away..." Sheng Zichen cried miserably, complaining to Shi Youxuan that his sister wanted to kick him out and take his toys.
The two children were seven years apart and basically never fought; this was the most intense incident yet.
"Is that so?" Shi Youxuan asked Shi Ran.
"It's not, Mom. We were doing our homework, and he was sneaking around outside. Then Qi Heng's notebook mysteriously disappeared, and later the pen went missing too."
"That pen is something his father left him as a memento; it's especially important..."
Shi Ran explained the whole story.
Supposedly, there was nothing wrong with a sister searching her brother's room.
But the problem was that she hadn't found anything.
Shi Youxuan asked her son if he had taken the notebook.
He had to tell the truth.
Lying is wrong.
"No, no, no, no, no, no..."
Sheng Zichen shook his head like a rattle-drum and flatly denied it.
Qi Heng said, "If my younger brother says he didn't take it, then he definitely didn't. Maybe I forgot it somewhere else; I'll look for it again." He intended to turn a big problem into a small one and a small one into nothing.
Just as Shi Youxuan was about to agree, Sheng Hanyu suddenly asked his son, "Zichen, shall we go to the sheep pen to see Xiaoyang?"
"No, no!"
The little fellow immediately stopped crying, his face serious and taut, as he stood at the doorway with his arms spread wide.
He wouldn't go out, and he wouldn't let anyone else out either!
"Move aside!"
Shi Ran immediately understood.
The time she went to see Xiaoyang every day was fixed.
Usually, by this time, she wouldn't go again today, and besides eating grass, Xiaoyang would eat other things too!
If Qi Heng's notebook and pen were really in the sheep pen, they would probably be eaten by the time she went tomorrow, and nothing would be left.
"I won't." Sheng Zichen was very firm; he simply wouldn't move.
"If you won't move, then we'll go together." Sheng Hanyu wouldn't waste words with his son; he picked him up directly and went together.
The back garden.
"Baa!"
"Baa!"
The snow-white Xiaoyang, which had been lying in the pen feeling bored, stood up excitedly upon seeing so many people suddenly watching it, calling out "Baa, baa" to welcome its owners.
And right in front of it—sat Qi Heng's notebook and pen, placed neatly!
Sheng Zichen covered his eyes with his two chubby little hands, unable to bear looking.
There was nothing left to say; time for a spanking!
Sheng Hanyu said to his daughter and Qi Heng, "You two continue studying."
Then he tucked his son under his arm and strode toward the Study.
The Study.
The little fellow was placed face-down on a chair, and his pants were pulled down.
"Smack, smack, smack!"
Sheng Hanyu's large palm landed on his son's bottom, and red marks quickly appeared.
"Wah!"
"Wah, wah—"
"Wah, wah, wah—"
Sheng Zichen cried most miserably.
Between sobs, he shouted, "It hurts, don't hit me!"
"Do you know you were wrong?" Sheng Hanyu put on a stern face, looking very cold.
Sheng Hanyu was a strategist in the business world, a long-time superior who naturally carried a cold aura, not to mention he was a naturally aloof person to begin with.
He put away his affection in front of his son and revealed his severity, which Sheng Zichen particularly disliked.
He had originally wanted to act cute and play the fool to get away with it, but seeing his father like this, he didn't dare.
Sheng Zichen pursed his little lips: "Baobao, wrong." Although he was admitting his mistake, his aggrieved little look was exactly like a confession extracted under torture, without the slightest self-awareness of his wrongdoing.
Sheng Hanyu raised his palm, about to strike again.
Someone knocked on the door outside: "Dong, dong, dong."
Wang Yinghao said from outside: "Hanyu, open the door, open the door and let me in." She was afraid her son would hurt her grandson.
When she saw him storming off with the child tucked under his arm toward the Study earlier, she had wanted to intervene, but was stopped by her daughter-in-law.
Shi Youxuan hadn't gone in either; she said to her mother-in-law: "Mom, let's not interfere; Hanyu will educate Zichen well."
So Wang Yinghao listened to her daughter-in-law and did not enter the Study, but instead pricked up her ears to listen from outside.
But when she heard the child's crying from inside, she could no longer hold back.
Her son must be hitting her grandson; how old is the child?
What if he gets hurt?
So, ignoring her daughter-in-law's obstruction, she went to knock on the Study door.
"Hanyu, open the door, open the door."
When Sheng Zichen heard his grandmother's voice, he knew she had come to "save" him, and immediately cried even louder and more miserably.
He cried and called out: "Save Baobao, Grandma, Grandma!"
Sheng Hanyu said to the outside of the door: "Mom, please don't interfere; I must make him learn his lesson today."
Wang Yinghao: "How old is he? Children only start having memories at three; a child this small can't remember anything, he won't learn a lesson, just discipline him when he's older..."
"Bang, bang, bang!"
The Study door was knocked on continuously, but—the door didn't open, and the crying inside grew even louder!
Her daughter-in-law and Sheng Jiang both came over to persuade her.
Shi Youxuan: "Mom, please stop knocking. Don't you know Hanyu's temper? The more you try to stop him, the harder he'll hit." This sentence was meant for both of them to hear.
To the outside of the door, it was to tell her mother-in-law not to interfere with a father's way of educating his child.
To the inside of the door, it was to let her son know that crying and making a scene—doesn't work with his father!
Her husband also persuaded her: "Xuanxuan is right, let's just not interfere."
Wang Yinghao hadn't seen it, but Sheng Jiang knew how Sheng Laoyezi had disciplined a young Sheng Hanyu.
To teach a child to distinguish right from wrong, hitting is the fastest way, and the one most likely to leave a deep impression on a child.
But one cannot hit all the time.
If they get used to being hit, they won't be afraid anymore.
But one also cannot not hit; if they don't know the taste of physical pain when they are young, they will feel pain in their hearts when they grow up!
In fact, Wang Yinghao knew this principle too.
But the older generation dotes on children too emotionally; she knows the principles, she just can't help herself.
Finally, Sheng Jiang dragged his wife back to their room; if you can't bear to watch, just don't look.
Shi Youxuan also went back to her own room.
A child only two years old already knows how to steal things; how can this be allowed?
Not only did he steal, he even knew to hide it in the place least likely to be discovered.
If this isn't nipped in the bud, and he succeeds and gets a taste of the sweetness, a perfectly good child could easily grow up crooked.
Through this incident.
Sheng Zichen learned that not everything can be solved by acting cute and playing the fool!
He became much more well-behaved and sensible.
However, his older brother and sister no longer did their homework in the courtyard.
After school, the two of them would go into their room to do their homework, and even lock the door so he couldn't get in.
Little Sheng Zichen was unhappy.
