Chapter 77: Happy for You, Grievances for Myself
A pair of five or six-year-old, jade-carved and porcelain-sculpted boy and girl each carried a flower basket, walking slowly toward them while scattering the petals from their baskets toward the ceiling.
The bright red petals drifted down in a flurry, and from somewhere unknown came colorful bubbles; the restaurant instantly became even more romantic and cozy.
Shi Youxuan felt something was wrong; she wasn't stupid, why make such a big scene just for a meal?
So she looked at Jian Yining with suspicion: "What kind of trick are you playing?"
At this moment, the Servant lifted the lid of the silver tray in the center; inside was not food, but a deep blue jewelry box.
The jewelry box was handed to Jian Yining, and he stood up from his seat, holding the box in front of Shi Youxuan: "A gift for you, open it and see."
Shi Youxuan didn't take it, and she didn't dare to look.
She dodged Jian Yining's burning gaze and said with a guilty conscience: "It's not a holiday or a festival, why give a gift? You should take it back."
If she accepted someone's gift, she would have to agree to their conditions; what if he said something, what would she do?
"Just take a look, open it and see, if you don't like it you can give it back to me..."
Since Jian Yining had said as much, Shi Youxuan could only bite the bullet and take it, faking a smile: "What is it? So mysterious... Ah! Jian Yining, you are too kind."
She excitedly hugged Jian Yining, released him a moment later, held the box tightly against her chest, and jumped around happily, almost spinning in circles on the spot.
"Happy, right? A new life and a new beginning naturally require a sense of ritual. Look at how nervous you were just now, as if I were about to traffic you..." Jian Yining's smile was still as gentle as ever, though only he knew how bitter he felt inside.
It was fortunate that he had prepared for two scenarios today.
The atmosphere Jian Yining had created was, of course, to confess to Yingzi!
He had thought for many days about what kind of gift to give for a confession; expensive jewelry, clothes, and bags might have a fatal attraction for other girls, but not for Yingzi.
That person had never been particular about her attire; if she were, she wouldn't have such a beautiful face yet deliberately dress as ugly as possible.
Of course, even if Yingzi liked those things, she could easily obtain them herself!
No one knew better than Jian Yining how capable she was at making money.
He knew that to give a gift, one must give what is most needed; what Yingzi needed most right now was a new identity, one that could walk under the sun and be presented openly.
So what he gave was an ID card, and the name on the ID card was "Ying Zi"!
He had deliberately been coy just now, mainly to watch Yingzi's reaction; if she happily guessed the gift, he would have confessed when he presented it.
If Yingzi dodged or felt awkward, then he would just give the gift without confessing, to avoid any future awkwardness between them; all of this could just count as celebrating Yingzi's new beginning.
Her current appearance explained everything, so Jian Yining accompanied her in her happiness.
Shi Youxuan held the ID card in her hand, looking at it front and back, unable to get enough of it.
She asked Jian Yining: "Is there any problem with this identity? There won't be anyone else coming over to say I'm someone of theirs or something like that, right?"
"No, you can rest assured."
Jian Yining said: "Are you full? If you're full, I'll take you to see your new place, bought with this identity; go see if you like it."
"Let's go."
As Shi Youxuan left her seat and was about to walk away, she turned back, pointed at the remaining food on the table, and said to the Servant: "Please pack these up, thank you."
The Servant was stunned and didn't move.
Many people had rented out the entire restaurant here, but not one had ever asked to pack up the leftovers after eating, especially when it was a girl who brought it up!
Packing up was a good virtue, but it just didn't fit this occasion.
Seeing that he didn't move, Jian Yining was displeased: "What, does your establishment not provide packing services?"
The Servant then reacted, hurriedly agreeing: "We provide it, we provide it, I will pack it for you immediately."
The two of them carried the takeout boxes out of the Ginza Building and got into the car; just as Jian Yining started the engine, Yingzi suggested: "Laomao, you should still take me back to your Villa; I'll look at the new home later."
"Why?"
Jian Yining suddenly raised his voice; he really couldn't understand why Yingzi wanted to go back.
It had been so dangerous this morning, and it had been so hard to get her out, yet now she wanted to go back!
She gave her reason: "The police know that someone was living in the Villa, but now they are suddenly gone. If they can't find evidence to the contrary and suspect me of being a suspect too, what should I do? I won't take the blame for this; I have to go back and wait for them to finish their investigation. If I'm going to leave, I have to do it openly and honestly."
This reason was impeccable; if it were really pursued, Jian Yining had gone to the Villa to pick up Yingzi this morning, so he couldn't stay out of it either.
Jian Yining just assumed Yingzi was doing this for his sake, and he felt wonderful inside.
Thinking again that Yingzi now had a new identity, she wouldn't be afraid even if the police investigated. Although this identity was fabricated out of thin air, it was more real than the real thing; he had spent a large sum of money and used many methods to obtain it, otherwise, it wouldn't have taken so long.
He took a stack of documents out of his bag and handed them to Yingzi: "Here, take a good look; it's best if you can memorize them before going back, just in case."
"What is this?" Yingzi took it and understood after just one glance.
This was her "identity background" information.
Ying Zi, female, twenty-six years old.
Native place: Jiangzhou City.
Education: PhD in Business Administration from Harvard University.
As for her work experience, it was a dense list, writing that she had been involved in the financial investment industry since high school, which also involved many multinational enterprises and companies...
Her parents' ancestral home was in Jiangzhou, but they currently lived abroad; the information was written very convincingly.
Shi Youxuan had no confidence, so she asked out loud: "Laomao, you made this up quite convincingly, but will this work? Isn't it a bit too much? If someone investigates, won't I be exposed?"
Jian Yining said: "Just check it yourself and you'll know."
So she really did check it, only to become more and more shocked; everything written above could actually be found on the internet!
In other words, all this information was real!
"Laomao, how did you do it?" Shi Youxuan was incredibly shocked, and of course, incredibly impressed.
Jian Yining was smug: "I have great capabilities; this is just the beginning. Most of the money in the company was earned by you, and I've taken advantage of you quite a bit over the years. Being able to do this small thing for you is not worth mentioning, not worth talking about..."
His words were humble, but the smile in the corners of his eyes and brows carried an irrepressible smugness.
Shi Youxuan had the ability to remember everything she saw; she only read the thick stack of documents a few times before memorizing them all. Before arriving at the Villa, she returned the documents: "Here, I've memorized them all."
The two got out of the car at the main gate; not only did Shi Youxuan not hurry into the Villa, but she also deliberately leaned forward to watch the excitement.
She spoke to the police: "What are you doing? Why are you draining the lake for no reason?"
The person glared at her: "Go, go, go. Don't ask about things you shouldn't, move along, onlookers aren't allowed here."
Shi Youxuan retorted: "Move where? I live right here."
After saying this, she swaggered and slowly walked back to the Villa.
The police did not follow her to ask for her ID or investigate her identity; they simply ignored her entirely.
The mud was already exposed in the shallow parts of the lake, and the police and the construction team were conducting a meticulous search; the water was only knee-deep at its deepest point, and huge fish were constantly splashing and jumping in the shallow water!
There were also lotus roots in the mud, which were tossed casually onto the bank after being dug up, with nobody wanting them at all.
Shi Youxuan felt it was a pity, so she stood by the window and said to Jian Yining: "Shall I go ask them for a few fish? We can keep them in the bathtub and make boiled fish, steamed fish, braised fish, or sweet and sour fish."
