Chapter 795: A Father Covers Up for the Murderer
The hospital.
In the corridor outside the operating room, Jian Xiansheng and Wan'er sat on a bench waiting for the surgery to end.
Shi Yuke was not dead; she was inside undergoing surgery.
The father-in-law and daughter-in-law now shared the same thought: they hoped Shi Yuke would not die!
Both Jian Yixin and her mother were currently detained at the police station; regardless of which one of them had pushed Shi Yuke, they were all family, and they did not want anything to happen to their own.
If the person died, it would be troublesome.
But if she lived, there would be many ways to make amends.
"It's my fault, it's all my fault. Why did I let her follow her alone? Why didn't I follow her?" Jian Xiansheng was filled with regret.
They had noticed when Shi Yuke entered the hotel, and the elderly couple had witnessed the entire conflict between that woman and their daughter; when their daughter led Shi Yuke upstairs, the wife had followed without hesitation.
No one knows a daughter better than her mother.
Seeing the look in her daughter's eyes, the wife knew she would do something extreme.
Persuasion was useless; no matter who tried to talk her out of what she wanted to do, she simply wouldn't listen.
That was why she went to take the blame for her daughter.
Wan'er kept messaging her husband to inform him of the situation there.
Jian Yining was on a flight back to the country; he should have returned for Moli's birthday, but a very important matter at the company had delayed him, so he hadn't come back, and he hadn't expected such a major incident to occur.
The reason the two of them were texting instead of calling was for fear of making their father even more anxious.
Jian Yining: Wan'er, try your best to look after Dad's emotions; thank you for your hard work.
Wan'er: We are husband and wife, and I am also a member of the Jian Family. Why talk about hard work? Don't worry, I will take good care of Dad.
The doctors were doing their utmost to save her, using every possible method to keep Shi Yuke alive.
Sheng Hanyu and his brother were at the police station mediating, trying every means to let Jian Yixin and her mother see each other.
And they were striving for bail.
The mother and daughter met.
"Mom, this matter has nothing to do with you..."
Jian Yixin had just begun when her mouth was covered by her mother.
Lady Jian said to her daughter, "Silly child, Moli has never been away from Mom since he was born; who knows how much he must be crying right now?"
Her tears fell instantly.
That was right; her son had never left her side. If Shi Yuke died, she would have to pay with her life!
What would happen to her son then?
When she pushed Shi Yuke, her heart was filled only with the thought that "I cannot let this woman take my son away," and she hadn't thought of anything else at all.
But now, she regretted it too.
If that woman died, no one would be fighting her for her son, but how would she face Moli in the future?
When the child grew up, would she tell him: your biological mother was killed by me?
Or perhaps she wouldn't even have the chance to tell him herself, and he would learn from others that his adoptive mother was a murderer, and the person she killed was his biological mother!
How would Moli face society then?
It was too cruel.
Jian Yixin felt as if her heart were being twisted when she thought of these things.
But no matter how sad she was, she had to bear the consequences of her own actions; she could not let her mother take the blame for her.
"Mom, please don't say anymore. It is Moli's fate not to have a mother's love; it will be enough for him to have his father's love in the future. I am at ease knowing Ze Rong is taking care of Baobao."
She hadn't thought of herself at all; all she could think of was the child's future life.
Lady Jian: "Don't talk nonsense. Live your life well after you get out, come visit me on visitation days, and I entrust your father to you."
"No, you take care of Dad. I did this, and it has nothing to do with you."
Lady Jian glared, acting overbearing: "How could it have nothing to do with me? It was me who did it, and it has nothing to do with you at all. Don't be stubborn with me, it's useless."
"Police, police, I have new information to report!"
Lady Jian called the police over and reported: "There is surveillance at the entrance of the stairwell. If you go and check the footage, you will know who did this."
The footage was retrieved quickly; after Shi Yuke entered the stairwell, the person following behind was indeed Lady Jian!
The video segment showing Jian Yixin following them in had been cut.
There was evidence proving it had nothing to do with Jian Yixin, and she was released from the police station.
Shi Yuke had not yet come out of the operating room.
A day and a night had passed, and the surgeons had already been replaced twice, but she was still not out of danger, and the doctors had issued a Critical Condition Notice.
This matter had to be told to Shi Yucheng; they couldn't let the old man miss seeing his daughter for the last time, and if he asked later, it would be hard for Shi Youxuan to explain.
"Dad, I have something to tell you. Please take your blood pressure medication first."
"Go ahead, I can handle it."
Seeing his second daughter bring the blood pressure medication, Shi Yucheng had a premonition that it was nothing good.
"There's no rush, please take your medicine first."
"Is it that Shi Yuke has caused trouble outside again? Is she dead?" Shi Yucheng gritted his teeth in hatred, but the corners of his eyes were red.
No matter how bad she was, she was still his daughter; his resentment for her not living up to expectations was just resentment, but his love had not vanished.
Shi Youxuan hesitated for a moment and said, "She isn't dead yet, but the doctor has already issued a Critical Condition Notice. Go see her for the last time."
"She deserves to die." Two bean-sized tears slid down his cheeks.
What surprised Shi Youxuan was that her father's emotions remained quite stable.
Perhaps it was because Shi Yuke had caused too many incidents over the years, one after another, that Shi Yucheng had long since developed an immunity to them, and his emotions could no longer be stirred.
But he still wanted to know what had happened.
Shi Youxuan told her father exactly what had happened when Shi Yuke went to the hotel, from beginning to end.
She neither exaggerated nor concealed anything, including the fact that Shi Yuke had tried to extort one billion from Jian Yixin.
After listening, he was very calm: "Hmm, she is capable of doing such things; the current outcome is what she deserves."
"I hope she is reborn into a good family in her next life and learns to be a decent person; as for the final farewell, I will not go."
After the old man finished speaking, he walked upstairs with his hands behind his back.
He climbed a few steps, suddenly stopped, turned around, and said to his second daughter: "After she dies, just find any place to bury her; any place will do, just don't bury her next to her mother."
"Her mother spoiled the child too much; Yuke wasn't like this when she was little... Sigh!"
"Things have reached this point, so what is the use of saying all this? Anyway, stay away from her, the further the better."
Shi Youxuan worried: "Dad, are you alright? Should you take your medicine?"
"I'm fine."
He turned and started up the stairs again, took two more steps, then stopped and turned around once more: "Between Yixin and her mother, who was it that actually did the pushing?"
Shi Youxuan:...
This question was truly difficult to answer.
While she was still thinking about how to respond, Shi Yucheng gave the answer himself: "I reckon it was Yixin who pushed her, and her mother took the blame for her; perhaps at this very moment, the mother and daughter are still arguing over who the culprit is."
Shi Youxuan was speechless once again.
Her father had guessed everything correctly, as if he had seen it with his own eyes.
Shi Yucheng let out a long sigh and returned to his room.
But he came out again very quickly, holding his coat in his hand, and said to Shi Youxuan: "Take me to the police station."
"Dad, why are you going there? Why don't we go to the hospital and check on her? My sister... she isn't dead yet! She is in the operating room being resuscitated," she reminded him.
Shi Yucheng: "Ignore her, go to the police station and bail that mother and daughter out; they have lived lives of luxury, how could they endure the hardships of a police station? Yuke deserves it; even if she dies, it has nothing to do with that mother and daughter. It is all of her own making; she brought this upon herself."
When it came to matters of right and wrong, Shi Yucheng saw things with great clarity.
