Chapter 866: Sheng Zichen's Little Schemes
Shi Family.
"Little sister, little sister, shall we play hide-and-seek?" Shi Yuke blinked her large eyes; this was already the third time in ten minutes she had interrupted her train of thought.
The twins were asleep.
Originally, she had wanted some peace and quiet to think carefully about the events of the past two days.
There was always something that didn't feel right; she could sense it but couldn't sort it out, and now she could sort it out even less.
Shi Youxuan looked toward the doorway helplessly: "Sister, I'll say this one last time. Can you go play hide-and-seek with Shi Ran and Sheng Zichen? If you keep bothering me like this, I can't think."
She didn't leave, but pouted as she walked in.
She pulled on her sister's hand, rocking it back and forth: "Just play with me, they won't play with me."
"What are you thinking about? Using your brain is tiring, don't think about it, come play with me."
Shi Yuke looked aggrieved: "Ranran won't play with me. She says I'm too childish. I just don't understand, why am I older than her, yet she says I'm childish?"
"Other than doing her homework, she just plays on the computer. And she doesn't even play games on the computer, just looking at those endless strings of numbers makes me dizzy..."
"Zichen doesn't like to play with me either. He only likes to play with Zhihao. What's so fun about messing with those pots and pans? I really don't get it."
"The few others are too young, and I don't like playing with them either."
Only then did Shi Youxuan remember that Sheng Zichen had gone straight into the kitchen and hadn't come out.
For the past two days, she hadn't seen Sheng Zichen's face except at mealtimes. Usually, on weekends, he would cling to her side, chattering away until he could drive someone crazy, but these past two days had indeed been very quiet.
Something wasn't right; a thought flashed into her mind.
"Sister, go play by yourself!"
She stood up and hurried downstairs to find Sheng Zichen; she needed to clarify one thing.
The kitchen.
It was bustling inside; the master and apprentice were practicing tossing the wok.
The iron wok was filled with half a pot of sand, and they had to make the wok toss so that the sand left it completely, traced a perfect arc in the air, and then landed back in the wok.
Furthermore, during this process, not a single grain of sand was allowed to fall outside the wok.
Sheng Zichen was doing this tedious task with great relish!
"Sheng Zichen, come out."
"Mom, I'm busy." The little guy didn't even turn his head.
"Come out!" She suddenly raised her voice.
"Coming."
He knew that when Mom was like this, she was angry, so he immediately put down the iron wok and walked out of the kitchen.
The mother and son went into the courtyard.
Shi Youxuan: "Tell me about what happened that day again."
"What day? What happened?"
The little guy looked at his mother in confusion, his eager little eyes drifting toward the kitchen; his heart had already flown back there.
"The incident where you and Sheng Aifei had a conflict. Why did he choke you?"
That day, when Shi Youxuan saw her son being choked by another child, her temper flared up instantly, and she hadn't asked why the conflict started in the first place.
Later, when she asked, she just believed whatever her son said without suspicion.
"He was jumping over the fence, and I called him a wild kid. He didn't want me to call him that, but I insisted. He was a wild kid, so why couldn't I say it? He couldn't win the argument, so he choked me." The little guy didn't even use his brain when he said it; all his attention was still stuck in the kitchen.
Shi Youxuan: "That's not what you said at the beginning."
Sheng Zichen covered his mouth with both hands; only then did he realize he had let something slip.
But he still quibbled: "I was almost choked to death back then, I was so scared, how could I think about all that..."
His voice grew quieter as he spoke because his mother's expression was becoming increasingly stern.
"Come with me."
"Where to?" He was reluctant.
"Back to apologize to Sheng Aifei. You were in the wrong first in this matter, so you must apologize."
"But he choked me! He almost choked me to death. When I grow up, it's going to leave me with deep childhood trauma." Sheng Zichen started making excuses to avoid going back.
Shi Youxuan: "Don't try to play tricks on me. The tricks you're playing are ones I've already outgrown. One thing at a time; you were in the wrong first, so you must apologize first. After you've finished apologizing, you can ask him to apologize too."
The little guy then readily agreed: "Okay."
The car pulled up to the Villa entrance.
Shi Youxuan took her son inside the main gate.
Lao Qi was playing a game in the living room, and Sheng Aifei was curled up on the sofa with a pillow, dozing off.
The little person was curled into a ball; he looked strong usually, but he looked very small and weak while asleep.
The air conditioner was on in the room, and the air was blowing directly onto his head, which made it very easy for him to catch a cold.
Men just aren't good at taking care of children; they are too careless.
"Madam, you're back! That's great. Does the Chairman know?" Lao Qi noticed them standing at the door, stopped playing his game, and immediately prepared to call Sheng Hanyu.
Shi Youxuan stopped him: "No need to tell him. I'm leaving in a moment; we came back for something."
"Hey, get up!"
Sheng Zichen prepared to nudge the child sleeping on the sofa.
Who knew how long he would sleep for?
He was in a hurry to go back and practice tossing the wok; he didn't want to waste time here.
Sheng Aifei saw Sheng Zichen with sleepy eyes and instantly woke up: "What are you doing? Want to fight? I'm not afraid of you."
He assumed a fighting stance, the weak appearance from just a moment ago vanishing instantly; now he looked just like a highly vigilant hedgehog!
Sheng Zichen immediately stepped back a pace and explained, "I didn't come here to fight; I came to apologize."
"I'm sorry."
The little guy mischievously bowed to Aifei three times, muttering as he did so: "First bow, second bow, third bow, ceremony complete!"
Shi Youxuan:...
She tried hard to restrain herself from hitting the child on the spot.
It was too infuriating; this child had too many devious tricks.
Perhaps he had already planned it out when he provoked the fight, intending to make a scene and then take the opportunity to suggest moving to his grandfather's house.
That way, he could go to the kitchen in a justified manner; the brat was smart, but unfortunately, he didn't use it in the right place.
Sheng Aifei did not know what three bows meant; he thought it was just being polite, but he was puzzled: "You, why do you want to apologize to me?"
Sheng Zichen: "I'm apologizing because I was the one who cursed at you first. Mom says cursing is wrong, so I'm apologizing to you. Alright, now it's your turn to apologize to me."
Xiao Fei blinked his big eyes, still looking full of vigilance.
He actually wanted to say "I'm sorry," but the three words rolled around in his throat and wouldn't come out.
He had never apologized before; even when he knew he was wrong, he had never said he was sorry.
He couldn't get it out.
He stiffened his neck: "I'm not wrong!"
"Hmph!"
Sheng Zichen snorted through his nose, turned around, and pulled his mother away: "Mom, let's go back. Now you can't blame me anymore."
"Alright, let's go back."
Lao Qi hurriedly chased after them: "Madam, Madam, since you have all returned, please don't leave. I will go pick up the young miss and the young masters; the master, the old madam, and the Chairman will surely be very happy."
Shi Youxuan turned around and warned: "Don't meddle. There's no need to tell them about our return, and don't you go linking our return and apology to other matters. One thing is one thing; they cannot be confused."
