Chapter 902: Personally Causing Trouble
The movie theater.
Jian Yining sat down next to Wan'er with a bucket of popcorn, smiling, and greeted Jin Zhenzhou: "Hi, Mr. Jin, what a coincidence, are you two here to watch a movie too?"
Wan'er:...
She wasn't stupid; she wouldn't believe in any coincidences.
It was definitely Jian Yining who had followed her to the movie theater again.
Jin Zhenzhou realized it too, but he didn't expose him, answering with a smile: "Yes, it really is quite a coincidence. Is Jian Xiansheng here alone?"
"That's right, I'm alone. I originally thought it would be too lonely to watch a movie by myself, but I didn't expect to run into you two here. It's such a stroke of fate... Let's eat together after the movie ends. My treat, what would Mr. Jin like to eat?"
"Jian Xiansheng, there's no need to be so polite, it's not necessary."
Jin Zhenzhou had planned to have a meal with Wan'er after the movie, but he hadn't planned on having Jian Yining there!
However, Jian Yining was very "enthusiastic," inviting them incessantly, with the air of someone who wouldn't give up until they agreed.
Wan'er couldn't even get a word in to object.
Jin Zhenzhou was a refined gentleman; although he didn't want to add her ex-husband to his date with Wan'er, he still agreed: "Alright, anything is fine."
"How about hot pot?"
"That works."
"Great, Mr. Jin is really so easygoing, unlike our Wan'er, who is extremely picky. Wan'er likes Western food, so let's go eat French food in a little while."
Jin Zhenzhou:...
Wan'er couldn't take it anymore: "Jian Yining, that's enough. Who wants to go eat French food with you? You leave right now; if you don't leave, we will!"
Jian Yining placed his index finger to his lips in a shushing gesture and whispered: "Don't make a sound, this is a public place, mind your influence."
He knew to mind his influence now, even though he was the loudest person just a moment ago.
The theater went dark, and the movie was about to begin.
Wan'er stood up, only to be immediately pulled back down by Jian Yining.
She struggled a few times but couldn't break free.
She didn't take in a single thing the movie was playing.
Instead, the men on her left and right were watching with great interest.
The movie ended.
The three of them still went to have lunch together.
Standing in front of the three-star Michelin restaurant, Wan'er gave Jian Yining a deep look; this guy must be up to no good!
"Please!"
Jian Yining made a very gentlemanly invitation gesture.
The three entered the restaurant, and the two of them realized that Jian Yining had already reserved a table.
It was impossible to call it a "chance encounter" anymore; it was clearly premeditated.
Both men pulled out a chair for Wan'er at the same time. Wan'er thought for a moment, then sat in the chair Jin Zhenzhou had pulled out: "Thank you."
The waiter came over to take their order, and Jin Zhenzhou handed the menu to Wan'er, politely letting the lady go first.
Jian Yining, however, said: "Wan'er likes the French-style pan-seared lamb chops, which require a one-day advance reservation. I've already ordered them for her; Mr. Jin can just order for himself."
"Oh, alright."
Jin Zhenzhou took the menu back—and was dumbfounded!
Was this too complicated?
It wasn't that he hadn't been to high-end restaurants before, but this was his first time seeing such a complicated menu.
Aperitifs, appetizers, desserts, main courses...
It was too complex, and he was a bit bewildered.
But Jian Yining was very pleased with himself. He had done it on purpose, intentionally bringing the two of them to a place like this to make Jin Zhenzhou look bad!
Through his observations over the past few days.
He discovered that although Jin Zhenzhou looked well-dressed on the outside, he wasn't actually a wealthy person; that shopping mall wasn't very large, and it had quite a few loans.
After the Huang Qin incident, Jian Yining looked at everyone like they were a con artist!
Especially since this man wanted to compete with him for Wan'er, he had an even worse impression of him.
He had warned Wan'er, but Wan'er told him to mind his own business and not to worry about things that didn't concern him.
Jian Yining brought him to this high-end place so that if he made a fool of himself, Wan'er would inevitably notice the clues.
Unfortunately, his "painstaking efforts" didn't seem to have any effect.
Jin Zhenzhou held the menu looking like he didn't know where to start, so Wan'er helped him out: "Let me do it."
After ordering, the waiter first brought the aperitifs.
In front of Wan'er was a glass of pale gold champagne, and in front of the two men were glasses of the same sparkling wine.
The two men picked up their aperitifs and drank them in one gulp.
Jin Zhenzhou didn't move; he felt he should wait for the food to arrive to eat together, as that was how he usually ate.
"Mr. Jin, why aren't you drinking? Is what Wan'er ordered not to your taste?" Jian Yining appeared kind on the surface, but was actually harboring "malicious intent."
"No, it's very much to my taste."
He picked it up and took a small sip.
Jian Yining caught him in the act and began to instruct Jin Zhenzhou: "Is this Mr. Jin's first time eating French food? That's not how you drink an aperitif; you have to drink it in one gulp to whet your appetite."
"So that's how it is."
He blushed slightly and then drank the sparkling wine in front of him in one gulp.
After the aperitif was finished, the waiter cleared the glasses, and in a moment, brought out the appetizers.
In front of the three of them sat a small, square, crystal-clear cup, and inside each cup was a beautifully shaped little snack; it was too beautiful.
It was just like a work of art, so good-looking that Jin Zhenzhou couldn't bear to eat it.
But Jian Yining and Wan'er swallowed theirs in one bite, and they didn't use knives or forks.
He was smart this time; without being taught, he learned from the two of them and swallowed it too.
Then, French bread was brought out, served with a small dish of cheese.
Several items had already been served, but each was only a tiny bit; Jin Zhenzhou hadn't eaten breakfast when he went out this morning, so he had been hungry for a long time.
Now that he saw the bread, he assumed this must be the main course.
He picked up the bread and took two bites, only to discover something wasn't right!
The people around him were looking at him, and not just those at his table.
"Is there... a problem with me?"
Jian Yining, who loved to play the teacher, tore the bread into small pieces that could be eaten in one bite and told Jin Zhenzhou: "This way of eating has been passed down for centuries, intended for sharing the leftover bread with the poor."
Jin Zhenzhou:...
He turned bright red.
The appetizer was a salad.
After the salad came the soup, a thick seafood soup and a cream of mushroom soup.
After the soup was finished, a glass of lemon water was placed in front of each person; drinking it was meant to cleanse the palate to welcome the main course.
But Jin Zhenzhou thought the meal was over and laughed: "For such a high-end restaurant, the food is a bit monotonous."
Since coming in, he had been suppressed by Jian Yining at every turn, and he was thinking of using this opportunity to get back at him.
As soon as the words left his mouth, the waiters arrived carrying the main courses.
Pan-seared sea bass, Mediterranean Caviar, pan-seared foie gras with king oyster mushrooms, and of course, Wan'er's favorite pan-seared lamb chops.
Paired with dry red wine, sweet dessert wine, and tequila.
Dessert was meringue and mousse, paired with sweet white wine.
After the meal came coffee, and after the coffee, everyone was served a glass of cognac.
Only then did it end; the meal was incredibly tedious to get through.
Jian Yining had achieved his goal; after leaving the restaurant, Jin Zhenzhou didn't insist on taking Wan'er home and went back on his own.
"He knows when to quit," Jian Yining said, very pleased with himself.
"Ouch, that hurts!"
Wan'er, who had been holding back for a long time, twisted his ear and said huffily: "Jian Yining, you did that on purpose, didn't you? You deliberately brought him to a place like this to make him look foolish; do you think that's fun?"
"Don't be angry, Wan'er. I did it for your own good. Look, isn't the result quite good now? He realized he isn't a match for you and retreated in the face of difficulty."
"Hmph!"
Wan'er didn't argue with him, hailed a taxi, and left in a huff.
