Chapter 1199: The Traitor
Li Yue looked at how excited everyone present was, and at once gave a casual, faint smile.
Then he spoke seriously, "Everyone, everyone, please quiet down a bit and let me finish what I have to say, alright?"
Hearing Li Yue's voice, the people present finally reacted, slowly.
Their gazes gathered on Li Yue.
"Sorry about that, Lord Chenxi—everyone's still a bit unable to believe that you've become a True God, so they got a little worked up."
Li Yue heard what the other said, the corners of his mouth curving into a slight smile, and he nodded along with it.
"No need to say more about that, I understand. Although I don't want to keep everyone either, time is tight right now, so I'd still like to finish what I have to say first before we get to anything else, alright?"
"Then go ahead, Lord Chenxi—we're all listening!"
At that moment, the Death Lord's voice rang out~. Along with his voice, the few people present also nodded-. Seeing that no one had anything more to say, Li Yue began once more to continue the words he had not yet finished.
"Now that my strength has broken through to True God, compared to before, I have a much greater chance of victory against the Demon Race. If we keep dragging this out, then in the end it will only make our strength grow weaker and weaker."
When Li Yue spoke to this point, he paused abruptly for a moment.
His gaze, at that very instant, swept briefly around the surroundings.
After sensing that no one was paying particular attention to what was happening inside the tent, Li Yue said seriously, "Moreover, I've obtained an even more important piece of news. I've heard that the Demon God has already planted quite a few spies within our army, in order to extract our intelligence and information."
"What!?"
"That can't be right, can it? You know, we and the Demon Race look very different from each other—even if they wanted to plant moles, wouldn't we be able to tell at a glance?"
One of the Lords immediately raised his own confusion.
Li Yue heard the other's words and did not deny it.
At that moment, the Death Lord was propping his chin in his hand, seriously pondering something.
After a short while, he slowly raised his gaze and looked at Li Yue.
In a tone of disbelief, he slowly opened his mouth to ask, "Could it be that this spy… is actually one of our own people?"
The Death Lord spoke out his own thought.
The moment this thought came out, it immediately drew surprise from the other Lords.
"What? This isn't some kind of joke, is it?"
Li Yue nodded and said seriously, "This isn't a joke—it's the real situation."
"Within our army, many soldiers have witnessed the fearsome nature of the Demon Race, so deep inside them a great illusion has already taken root—the illusion that this war against the Demon Race is one we are bound to lose."
"And so, under that psychological pressure of being certain to lose, many people will end up doing some irrational things—things like defecting to the Demon Race in hopes of a result where they don't die, all of that, everything."
Speaking to this point, Li Yue let out a deep sigh.
"That's why, after I learned of this situation, I proposed that we meet the Demon Race in another battle. As long as we can win, our army's morale will surge, and then we won't have to worry about this sort of thing happening again."
Listening to Li Yue's words, the few Lords nodded repeatedly, clearly in strong agreement with what Li Yue had said.
However, after thinking it over carefully, some of the Lords raised their own curiosity to Li Yue.
"That's strange? Then how did you come to know about the Demon Race planting moles, Lord Chenxi?"
Li Yue said, "During one surprise attack, I killed a Demon Race general and searched through his related materials before I learned of this."
As he spoke, Li Yue casually took out a stack of papers and then handed them over to the few Lords beside him.
"These are the names of the moles. If any of you Lords don't quite believe what I've said, you can go investigate, and then you'll know whether what I said is true or false."
The few Lords, the Death Lord included, hurriedly took the papers in hand, and the moment they picked them up and looked, their expressions changed drastically.
Because the number of names on the list was really a bit exaggeratedly large—at the very least, several thousand people.
And right now, quite a few of those people were presently within the military camps that they themselves currently controlled.
At that moment, the Death Lord gave the other Lords a slight nod.
The few Lords also understood what the Death Lord meant.
…
At that moment, the Death Lord slowly rose from his seat.
He casually took the lists from the hands of the others, and said to Li Yue, "Sorry about this, Lord Chenxi, I have a little matter to attend to on my end—please excuse me for a moment."
