Chapter 232: How Dare You Unleash Such Killing Intent at Me — You're Finished!
Deep in the Great Wastes, amid primeval mountain forests.
Wisps of mist rose and swirled, blurring the scenery of the mountains into a kind of primordial haze, and within that mist a colossal figure emerged.
The birds and beasts of the mountains were cowed by its aura; trembling, they all prostrated themselves on the ground and kowtowed to it.
It was a primeval relic-beast, towering to the heavens, its head thrust into the clouds, a pair of eyes like two lakes set into the vault of the sky, several leagues across.
"This sacred object is mine."
It let out a muffled voice, low and deep like a sudden thunder, shaking the mountains as if they were about to collapse, and far away among the ten thousand peaks many fierce birds and savage beasts shivered in fear.
"Boom!"
What answered it was a massive iron staff, thick as a pillar holding up the sky, sweeping across in a great arc, gale winds howling, rocks and stones sent flying.
The blow looked utterly terrifying, as if it could annihilate the world, as if heaven and earth themselves were being smashed apart.
"Aaoooh…"
The colossal figure let out a low, furious roar and thrust out a giant claw that blotted out the sky, vast enough to press down several mountain ridges, cold light glinting, incomparably sharp.
Clang!
The iron staff and the claw collided above the clouds; all manner of colored radiance flooded forth, and the most powerful of treasure-arts erupted, drowning heaven and earth.
From the sky, piece after piece of strange bone fell—some crimson as blood, some jet-black as ink, some crystalline as jade—each one gleaming with its own luster, every one of them a wondrous treasure-bone.
These treasure-bones had all been shed from the primeval relic-beast, and there were more than a dozen of them; if anyone beyond the mountains had seen this, they would have been so shocked they could not find words, for they could never have dreamed such a great number of treasure-bones existed here.
These treasure-bones, condensed with primitive symbols, flew down and scattered through the vast, misty mountain range, anchoring the peaks and trees, anchoring the gale winds and the earth, so that the primeval relic-beast's attacks could no longer casually destroy the great mountains.
The colossal fierce beast that rose above the clouds and stood between heaven and earth fixed its greenish, ghostly eyes on the scene and spoke coldly: "The mercy of a woman!"
Then it opened its mouth and spewed forth a terrifying beam of light that swept across everything above and below.
Had the treasure-bones not just anchored the misty mountain range, every living thing would have been reduced to ash.
That dazzling divine light slashed forward—a treasure-art of the most supreme order.
"Boom!"
An iron staff came chopping down upon the dazzling treasure-art, unleashing the sound of the Great Dao; on the staff itself appeared the most powerful of primitive symbols, ringing with a metallic clang, radiating measureless light, and beneath their blessing the divine staff was invincible.
This was a great, fierce battle; the two fierce beasts laid down primitive treasure-symbols here, anchoring the mountains as they fought to the death.
"Hong!"
In another direction at the deepest part of the mountain range, a little red bird appeared, flames surging to the heavens, and it clashed in a great battle against another terrifying creature.
Supreme treasure-arts clashed; everything above and below trembled. A single cry of the bird pierced through the nine heavens; the fiery little bird shrieked in fury, battling its opponent savagely, dragging up a skyful of crimson fire that burned down half the vault of the sky.
"Roar…"
A great roar shook heaven and earth. The little red bird's opponent was a being whose spirit swallowed up mountains and rivers, possessed of a majesty that looked down upon all the world; it radiated endless colored radiance, using its supreme treasure-art to suppress the heavenly fire.
It was a giant bird, yet the sound it made was like the roar of a beast, shaking heaven and earth until they trembled; if not for the dozen-plus treasure-bones anchoring the mountains, the land here would surely have been shattered to pieces.
"Honglong!"
Its enormous wings stretched across the sky, pressing down over the vault like a bank of dark cloud, dimming that crimson fire considerably; this giant fierce bird was simply too vast, squeezing to fill the entire sky, and as its wings swept across they seemed like a hundred thousand great mountains bearing down.
The fiery little sparrow shot upward; though its body was small, its might was matchless, and it collided with the giant claw, sending sparks flying in all directions.
"Swoosh," "swoosh."
