Chapter 42: The Trap (Please Recommend)

~7 min read 1,251 words

"The strength of the evil cultists in this stronghold is indeed not strong... No need to remind them; let them plan freely to increase their practical combat experience."

Aaron moved in and out of the Heiri Stronghold, already having a clear understanding of the strength of the Black Sun Cultists within, and immediately decided to watch the show from the sidelines.

The next day.

Diate, Wutongmu Street.

A tattered, rusty sign lay on its side, and a light breeze blew, rolling up discarded old newspapers.

"Red-haired" Remu was boredly carrying out his Investigation mission when his eyes suddenly lit up.

He saw it: a girl of about fourteen or fifteen, holding a bag of food, walking into a certain building.

"This person... is it Lin? Although she has grown quite a bit, this face—it can't be wrong."

Remu had not expected that he would actually run into the Cult's wanted criminal, and a look of excitement could not help but appear on his face.

"If I can sacrifice her to the 【Black Sun】, perhaps my Lord will directly promote me to a 'Burning Son', or even a 'Darkness Chaser'!"

He licked his lips, and Greed uncontrollably appeared on his face.

But soon, Remu told himself: "No! This woman is very sinister; she is an attendant of the Moon, once caused the Blood Moon Tragedy, and many Unburnt have died at her hands... Hurry, hurry and notify Lord Mas!"

Remu lowered his body, hiding into the Darkness.

He did not notice that in a corner, there was an old spider web, which was currently trembling slightly.

Invisible vibrations spread along with the silk threads into the building.

Olivia opened her closed eyes: "That person has left. It can be seen that he is quite cautious... Next, the evil cultists will likely swarm out. I hope the trap we set is effective..."

"What a pity... I thought he would charge straight up and give me some fun." Lin looked at her hands with regret.

"The fun is gone; next, it will be a great battle."

Olivia's expression became firmer than ever before.

Unlike the weak, drifting person she was before, at this moment, she already had faith, and this time, she was fighting for her faith!

"I have already roughly figured out their combat power: one Burning Son, three to four 'Unburnt'... They will never expect that I still have you."

A smile appeared on Lin's face.

"Is this the place?"

Mas looked at the building in front of him, a cruel smile appearing on his face.

"Yes, the target entered here and hasn't come out for a long time; it should be a stronghold," Red-haired Remu said obsequiously.

"Very good. If this succeeds, I will not forget you." Mas was very satisfied, even feeling that today was his lucky day.

Not only was he developing rapidly in the city, but he had also found an important wanted criminal of the Cult!

"My lord, how should we carry out the capture operation?"

An 'Unburnt' asked; he was thin and lean, and he held a Zoulun pistol in his hand.

"Two people go to guard the back door, and then we will charge straight in... In the face of absolute strength, that person has nowhere to hide."

Mas arranged with great confidence.

After all personnel were in position, a flash of fanaticism crossed his eyes; a ball of blazing fire appeared on his hand, and he pushed it forward.

Boom!

The Fireball kept expanding in mid-air, like a grenade, blowing open the building's door.

"Go!"

The remaining three people rushed into the building, led by the thin, tall man.

They ran quickly through the corridor and saw a room piled with food, the door wide open at this time.

A red dress disappeared around the corner.

"Target spotted, chase!"

Mas's Spirituality vibrated; by now, he had confirmed that the other party was indeed Lin!

The thin, tall Unburnt ran quickly, turned the corner, saw Lin's back, and raised the firearm in his hand.

Lin had not exposed too many abilities in the small town, so he did not know that this girl possessed the skill to turn into blood.

After aiming, a smile appeared on the face of this 'Unburnt', as if he saw the scene of the other party's back exploding and blood splattering.

Pfft!

The next instant, his expression froze, his head flew straight up, and his headless corpse fell to the ground.

"What's going on?"

Mas and the other cultist stopped their steps and suddenly saw a transparent silk thread hanging in mid-air, and at this moment, drops of blood were sliding down the thread.

The other cultist swallowed a mouthful of saliva; one could imagine the scene of the unlucky guy moving at high speed just happening to hit his neck against this thread.

"Damn it... it's the height... according to the height of this thin thread, that little girl could run right past it, but an adult would just happen to get caught at the neck..."

Mas touched his own throat, also breaking out in some cold sweat: "What a cunning little thing."

He dared not move at high speed anymore, slowed his pace, and lowered his head to bypass the trap.

Pfft!

Just at this moment, the door nearby suddenly exploded, and a Blood Blade thrust out violently.

Mas seemed to have eyes in the back of his head and dodged quickly, but the other cultist was stabbed in the chest and fell down limply.

—Blood Blade!

Lin pulled open the door with an expressionless face and walked out, one hand still maintaining the shape of a dagger.

"After using a trap to kill my men, you actually didn't run, but hid to ambush us?"

Mas narrowed his eyes: "You have grown a lot... Lin!"

"How is Aike?"

Lin hissed the question.

"He died long ago; not only did he die, but his bones were even crafted into an exhibit by the High Priest!"

A ferocious smile appeared on Mas's face as he spat out words like the venom of a viper.

In the very instant Lin was distracted, he moved!

A mass of pitch-black flames was thrown directly out by him.

Boom!

The pitch-black flames exploded, and even though Lin had dodged, her left arm was still burned.

Her arm instantly turned into fresh blood, severing the flames attached to it before reforming into a perfect arm, though her expression was slightly pale as she brandished her dagger and charged up.

"Damn it!"

Before Mas had time to rejoice, he discovered Lin's attack; the dagger grazed his lower abdomen by a hair's breadth, forcing him to dodge in a sorry state.

"Little bitch!"

He cursed, pulling a black Shitou from his bosom; on the surface of the Shitou, flame-like patterns were writhing: "You really have reached the Second Stage, but why do you think I dared to come and pursue you? It isn't because I brought a group of useless subordinates, but because of this!"

As Mas spoke, he tossed the black Shitou.

Snap!

In an instant, Lin's vision vanished.

No, it did not vanish; rather, all the Light in the surroundings seemed to have been absorbed by that Shitou!

"Darkness Descends"!

An ability belonging to the Third-tier—"Darkness Chaser"!

And the Black Sun Cultists, however, could maintain good vision within the Darkness.

Boom!

From within the Darkness came Lin's muffled groan, followed by several sounds of explosions.

Finally, the Darkness receded.

Lin collapsed limply onto the ground.
