Chapter 511: Temporary Residence
"Then... which Evil God is this exactly?"
Aaron glanced at the middle-aged witch Aifa, knowing she could not possibly leak secrets to him.
Perhaps this non-human didn't even know anything more about the Green Banyan Tree Grandmother.
Furthermore, that existence was the prerequisite for the survival of the entire shelter.
Even if he forced her, she might not necessarily speak.
"Connected through faith and dreams? This is slightly troublesome... but as long as I wait for their next contact, there will always be clues and traces."
Aaron instantly had a list of suspects, and the one at the top was even 'Mother of Nature'!
However, he said nothing, only calmly stating: "I would like to reside in this shelter for a period of time..."
Aaron chuckled softly and was just about to sit on the bed when his Spirituality suddenly sounded an alarm!
"After all, you haven't completely stepped onto the Extraordinary Path, so you don't understand the terror of such existences... Before the apocalypse, they were the kings of the Hidden Realm in the Mortal World, known as 'Crown'!"
"The most convenient way would be to use Thought Alchemy to make everyone in the shelter believe that a brand-new crop variety has been discovered... Uh... the drawback of doing this is, first, the quantity is insufficient; these people's thoughts might not be able to leverage the Spiritual Sea, and second, with the decrease in the number of people and the fading of faith, or the suppression of Extraordinary Ability, who knows when the crop might suddenly disappear..."
Upon leaving, Aaron seemed to inadvertently reveal the cyan-black mark on his palm.
"The sorrow of an era..."
"Once this situation occurs, what will happen to the food they previously ate?"
With the help of the Fluorescent Stone embedded in the wall, she pulled open the iron door, revealing a cramped room behind it.
"This is one of the best rooms in our shelter." Enide, fearing Aaron might be dissatisfied, hurriedly explained.
"Hmm... using Extraordinary Ability to find a crop that doesn't require photosynthesis but is equally high-yielding and tastes good doesn't seem like a difficult problem; it could be done with a wave of the hand..."
However, in the end, Aifa still took out three strange Green Banyan Tree Leaves, with Spirituality flowing along the veins on the leaves: "These three Talismans might be able to repel or temporarily suppress Weird erosion; perhaps they will be useful to you, sir."
"Teacher, since this person is so dangerous and might bring disaster to our shelter, why did you still take him in?"
"Besides that, I will have fresh water and food delivered to you every day; they are the best supplies."
There was only one bed in the room, and it would appear crowded if two people stood inside.
In her view, those powerful Extraordinary individuals could at least join forces to build a beautiful home for the survivors.
On the walls were various laid-out pipes and lines; perhaps before the apocalypse, they could have been used to transport gas or Electric, but at this moment, they were clearly useless.
Aaron waved his hand.
Aaron glanced at this woman with slight surprise and accepted the Talismans: "Many thanks!"
"Yes..."
Aaron's expression was calm; his eyes seemed to cross the obstruction of countless spaces and even the Spirit Wall, directly seeing the scene of Aifa and her student's secret meeting.
But Aaron's strength was too great, leaving her in a dilemma.
This was a 'gift' from that Weird girl in the red dress.
Aifa slowly shook her head: "The will of such an existence is not something we can defy, otherwise the entire shelter might be destroyed!"
After she disappeared into the darkness, her footsteps grew faster and faster, and she finally returned to Aifa's room: "Teacher... I have very important intelligence regarding this sir."
Enide led Aaron and stopped outside a room in the shelter.
Sure enough, Aifa's expression changed instantly: "This is... a Weird Mark? You have encountered an extremely powerful Weird and even survived under its erosion? Truly incredible!"
She was worried that Aaron would lead a powerful Weird to the shelter, resulting in total annihilation.
He had no interest in rat meat or dried earthworms; although Enide said there were top-tier supplies, they were likely just a few cans, which he really didn't think much of.
When saying this, Enide felt a bit of heartache.
"Can."
"Then, the remaining cowards hid everywhere like rats, and what is even more sorrowful is... because of the great war, many Extraordinary individuals were in poor condition, lost control, turned into monsters, and in turn hunted humans."
Aifa's expression became somewhat hesitant: "Once you have close contact with a Weird, you will be marked... that Weird might set its sights on you, sir..."
"Wait a moment."
He sighed and began to think rapidly while rubbing his chin.
"This is a special phenomenon, perhaps originating from the intersection of the Spirit World and the Mortal World, possessing extremely special rules... Sometimes, even an ordinary person might encounter a Weird and survive, but cases where Mythical Creatures encounter a Weird and fall also happen from time to time."
"Oh, okay." Enide did not seem to expect that things could be solved so simply, and a flash of joy quickly crossed her face.
"Seems like a good topic."
But they did nothing!
"The apocalypse of the Mortal World is also the apocalypse of the Hidden Realm... I don't know why, but those 'Original Worms' love to devour powerful Extraordinary individuals in the Mortal World... It's not that we didn't fight, but after the battles, the powerful ones who were determined to protect mortals all died..."
Inside the bedroom.
After all, every additional person in the shelter meant that the resources for others would decrease!
"There's no need for food and water."
"Then, I shall take my leave..."
Enide bowed and withdrew.
A sarcastic smile appeared on Aifa's face: "I have always been reluctant for you to become an Extraordinary, because this is a cursed path..."
"Weird Mark?"
"Teacher..." Enide felt somewhat puzzled: "Then after the apocalypse, where did those powerful Crowns go?"
Enide's body trembled, and she immediately recounted all of her experiences, focusing on the fact that Aaron had split her desires to create another 'her'.
Aifa was silent for a moment and slowly speculated.
Aaron asked curiously: "Weird... what exactly is it?"
Aifa's expression was solemn; she stopped her student's big mouth, took out clean salt from under the table, sprinkled it in a circle around the room, and created a Spirit Wall: "Alright... now you can speak."
"An inconceivable ability... but it must be the ability of a High-Quality Being, perhaps 'Pupa' or 'Shadow'?"
Aifa had no way to refuse and could only say to Enide: "This gentleman is our honored guest; you must treat him well."
Enide continued to ask.
He turned around abruptly and saw that girl in the red dress again, her lips opening and closing, muttering something he could not understand...
The second update will be late.
