Chapter 24: Distorted Wish

Zhao Kaoming was about to continue speaking, but for some reason, looking at the gentle and handsome Chen Shoushan, a hint of jealousy suddenly rose in his heart.

Why is he so handsome? Why are all other Ghost Masters tortured and insane while he isn't? Why must I endure the pain of losing family members one by one while he doesn't have to?

At this moment, dark thoughts, like seeds fertilized, began to proliferate wildly in Zhao Kaoming's mind.

Seeing Zhao Kaoming suddenly fall silent, Chen Shoushan knew that corrosion began to take effect.

But at this moment, Chen Shoushan's bribery—charm effect still existed, which is also why Chen Shoushan could guarantee Zhao Kaoming wouldn't suddenly attack him midway.

At this moment, Zhao Kaoming remained silent on the surface, but his inner turmoil was about to explode! Charm brought affection for Chen Shoushan, while corrosion made Zhao Kaoming jealous, greedy, hateful toward everything around him!

Positive and negative, two starkly different emotions struck Zhao Kaoming's mind; for a moment, unable to hate Chen Shoushan, Zhao Kaoming began to hate everything around him, to hate the Wish Ghost that forever followed him, to hate Yang Jian who constantly opposed him, to hate everything he was dissatisfied with.

After a few more minutes, Zhao Kaoming's eyes were already bloodshot, his fingers twitched unconsciously, his gaze fierce as he stared at everything around him, while the car had stopped at some point.

Chen Shoushan's charm lasts only ten minutes, and now there's hardly any left; if it continues, Zhao Kaoming might attack him.

After looking at the rearview mirror in the car, Chen Shoushan reached out the window and waved, signaling to Ye Feng not far away that he could come over.

Taking advantage of the last bit of charm's effect, Chen Shoushan unfastened his seat belt and simultaneously canceled his extraordinary ability—corrosion, otherwise if Ye Feng approached he'd also be corroded, which would be troublesome.

As for Zhao Kaoming, Chen Shoushan wasn't worried he'd regain his sanity; corrosion's effect would still last a while, so Chen Shoushan opened the car door and got out.

"Where are you going?"

At this moment, a hoarse, fierce voice came from behind.

Chen Shoushan turned expressionlessly, seeing a pair of blood-red eyes greedily scrutinizing him—it was Zhao Kaoming, and at this moment the charm's effect had ended.

Zhao Kaoming panted, veins bulging on his forehead, his bloodshot eyes fixed on Chen Shoushan; he wanted to kill, to kill everyone happier than him—that was hatred! He also wanted to take everyone's happiness for himself—that was greed!

The hatred and greed brought by corrosion had now completely taken over Zhao Kaoming's brain.

Looking at the fierce Zhao Kaoming, Chen Shoushan smiled, casually took out a hundred yuan from his pocket and tossed it onto the car, pretending to reach to pick it up: "Whoops! I dropped money!"

Chen Shoushan's acting was fake, but Zhao Kaoming's gaze had already shifted to the fallen banknote; at this moment, the dark, greedy him wanted everything—anything others wanted, he wanted to snatch.

"Mine, it's mine!!"

Zhao Kaoming seemed mad, wanting to lunge at the banknote, but the seat belt held him tight; still he desperately clung to the note, savoring this plundering greed.

Seeing Zhao Kaoming clutch the banknote tightly, Chen Shoushan's mouth corner twitched slightly, revealing a faint smile.

Bribery—Connection!

Connection: By giving actual or symbolic bribery, a relationship is formed between the two parties, establishing a link.

At the instant Zhao Kaoming desperately grasped the banknote, Chen Shoushan's bribery ability activated—but not on Zhao Kaoming, rather on the Wish Ghost behind him!

Actually, Chen Shoushan's original target was the Wish Ghost, but the Wish Ghost differs from other ghosts—it is an idealistic ghost that does not exist in the real world, so Chen Shoushan realized he couldn't forcibly bribe it; likewise, he couldn't use bribery on any other extraordinary ability, because the Wish Ghost does not exist in reality.

At least the Corrosion Baron of Sequence Six cannot affect such a nonexistent ghost, so since we can't force-bribe it, we let it accept bribery voluntarily; Zhao Kaoming, in a sense, is one with the Wish Ghost, so when the greedy Zhao Kaoming clearly realizes his actions and still proactively seeks his own benefit, actively picking up the banknote from the ground, that is actively accepting bribery.

And the Wish Ghost, being one with it, is naturally the same; although it sounds far-fetched, the Attorney's path is originally about playing with rules, so one can easily exploit useful rules for oneself and amplify them to achieve one's goals.

And when the Wish Ghost accepts bribery, at that moment it steps into reality in Chen Shoushan's eyes; although he still cannot see it, he can clearly sense its presence there.

At this point, Zhao Kaoming was no longer satisfied with merely snatching a single banknote from Chen Shoushan; the dark, greedy him wanted more—he wanted to torture Chen Shoushan to death, then greedily seize every part of his body, every organ!

The next moment, Zhao Kaoming, like a bloodthirsty zombie, broke free of the seat belt and lunged at Chen Shoushan; he had forgotten that without a wish he was merely an ordinary person, while Chen Shoushan was certainly not ordinary!

Chen Shoushan kicked out fiercely at Zhao Kaoming, and with the power of a savage, Zhao Kaoming flew backward at lightning speed.

A crackling sound.

Zhao Kaoming flew straight out of the car, smashing the door to pieces, and hit the ground heavily.

His chest was completely caved in; a normal person would have passed out long ago, but Zhao Kaoming somehow remained conscious, the immense pain restoring some of his awareness, yet the situation left him no time to ponder what had just happened; he hastily made a wish to the Wish Ghost.

"I wish I could return to normal!"

Zhao Kaoming wasn't foolish either; he knew his emotions and sanity were surely affected by some supernatural force, so he made a wish for normality, hoping that with the Wish Ghost's help he could not only make his injuries disappear but also restore his sanity.

But how could Chen Shoushan possibly just watch him make a wish so easily? He directly activated his extraordinary ability!

Distortion!

Chen Shoushan didn't distort Zhao Kaoming's words; instead, he distorted the Wish Ghost's definition of normality!

Because the Wish Ghost might possess some wisdom, Chen Shoushan didn't set the distortion's target on Zhao Kaoming, since the Wish Ghost would surely favor Zhao Kaoming; even if Zhao Kaoming's words weren't his true intent, the Wish Ghost might still deliberately place a good outcome on him.

Therefore, Chen Shoushan, using the effect of bribery—connection, directly distorted the Wish Ghost's definition of normality, making it regard Zhao Kaoming's current state as normal, thus rendering the wish ineffective.

"What? Why? How could this be? What did you do?"

The intense pain on his body made Zhao Kaoming somewhat clearer, but his wish having failed left him feeling utterly incredulous, even though he clearly felt the Wish Ghost right beside him.
