Chapter 10: Lin Taisheng's Record

~7 min read 1,247 words

This Lin Taisheng may be the name of that Old Master.

Carrying doubts about the Fierce Ghost in this Village, Zhang Hao turned the page.

"The era of the Supernatural Incident has finally temporarily ended, and we guys should also withdraw from the era's Drape."

"But having already merged with disaster, can we now still blend into human society?"

The first page wrote as such.

This seems to have been written in the Republic Era, just after solving the Supernatural Revival.

"I tried it, and my three views are already different from those of normal people."

"Staying in human society would only bring more trouble, so I'll instead learn from those legendary old Immortals and go into seclusion."

"Come to think of it, could those reclusive old Immortals in the stories also be, like me, Ghost Tamers unwilling to approach the mortal world?"

The second page wrote as such; that Lin Taisheng Old Master seemed to be trying to blend into society.

But having been forged by the Ley Line Circle, he clearly can no longer fit into normal society.

"I found a suitable place, and will spend the rest of my life here; it's not far from Luo Ge's territory, so when bored I can drop by, and when trouble arises I can ask him for help."

"According to Luo Ge, from now until I die of old age there should be no more large‑scale Supernatural Incidents; I only need to solve my own Fierce Ghost revival problem a hundred years later."

The third page appears to be a record of deciding to go into seclusion.

The Luo Ge mentioned in the record is unknown, but seems to be a major figure among Ghost Tamers in the Republic Era.

Listening to the words in the record, Lin Taisheng's relationship with this Luo Ge should be good.

"Having stayed in this ghostly place for a few years, my temperament ultimately cannot endure solitary life; continuing like this I would go mad."

"But fortunately, I thought of a solution."

"I cannot blend into human society, but that doesn't mean I cannot create some people to keep me company."

The fourth page seems to be Lin Taisheng's rant after staying in this place for a long time.

"Hehe, you didn't expect it, I actually became."

"I dissected the Ghost Seeking Kin into two hundred pieces; one hundred pieces pertain to male‑related Supernatural Incidents, and through certain means I turned them into women."

"Then the other hundred pieces, targeting female Supernatural Incidents, I turned them into men."

"Thus, I created a Village of two hundred households."

The fifth page seems to be the beginning of the Village's birth.

However, Zhang Hao recalls that the Village's women should be only about sixty, while the bandits number a hundred.

The numbers don't quite match; did something else happen later?

"Alas, after visiting Lao Luo, things have changed; former comrades can no longer be that close."

"Recalling the days under Luo Ge's leadership, when we faced Supernatural Incidents together, those were beautiful yet desperate memories."

"Damn, after a short departure, the Village went out of control because a Ghost broke in; over forty female Puzzles were taken by those male Puzzles."

"No, I must separate the Village's men and women, cannot let them meet again, otherwise these guys will eventually devour each other and revert to the Complete Form."

The sixth page seems to correspond to the period Li Chun mentioned when the Old Master left and the Village's men were conscripted.

After the Old Master returned, he restored the Village's Balance through some method.

But unexpectedly, the original men of the Village turned into bandits.

"Things have changed; things have changed."

"Who could have thought that the former Thousand‑Faced Person Lin Taisheng has now become a decrepit old dead man?" "It seems the New Era Luo Ge spoke of is not far off, but I probably won't last until then."

The interval between the seventh and sixth pages seems to have spanned a very long time.

This Old Master has a codename of Thousand‑Faced Person, so his abilities should belong to a rather bizarre type.

Thousand‑Faced, does it mean ever‑changing?

"Only a few days of life remain; this Village will inevitably go out of control."

"This is the final record; if anyone can pass through that Village and see this, then take a close look—this is my advice to you, and also an introduction to the Ghost in the Village."

"I call that Ghost Ghost Seeking Kin; it consists of one male and one female, and follows three rules."

"The first, Male‑Female Unity: when the Male Ghost and Female Ghost are within a distance where they can sense each other, they can perform a Restart through the other."

"This sensing range, by my estimate, should be about a thousand meters, though it changes when the Terror Level weakens or intensifies."

"After I dissected this Ghost into two hundred pieces, our sensing range shrank to about ten meters."

"The second rule: Seeking Husband: this rule targets males; on the Female Ghost, when the Male Ghost is absent, she will enact this rule."

"When this rule triggers, they indiscriminately attack any opposite sex they see and devour their bodies; the contacted opposite sex becomes immobilized."

"The third rule: Seeking Wife: this rule targets females, opposite to the above rule, and is carried out by the Male Ghost."

This is the record of the last page; Zhang Hao still wants to read, but there is no content beyond.

"So that's it, no wonder."

Zhang Hao recalled when he first entered this Village.

The women in the Village wore expressions as if they were desperate to cling.

No wonder the Village's women look so famished; they are actually Female Ghosts transformed.

Because these women belong to the Female Ghost part of Ghost Seeking Kin, Lin Taisheng dissected them into over a hundred pieces and used some method to make them believe they are living people.

Yet even so, as Fierce Ghosts, their Fierce Ghost instincts still affect their consciousness.

Their desire to approach Zhang Hao is merely because, when the Male Ghost is absent, the Female Ghost follows the rule of wanting to devour males.

But due to the distortion of human consciousness, they mistakenly think this is a desire to get close to males—a sexual urge.

After all, eating them from below is still eating, right?

"So, with this, how did the Village go out of control again?"

Zhang Hao understood why the Village's women wanted to get close to him.

But he could not understand what caused the Village's first sound.

Zhang Hao recalled that when the bandits first smashed the door, the sound should have been emitted at Lian'er's doorstep.

So it seems Lian'er had been too close to herself before, was influenced by the Killing Rule in her subconscious, craved men more, and accidentally encountered those bandits, right?

According to Lin Taisheng's records, the sensing range between Male Ghost and Female Ghost changes with the Terror Level.

Thus, after the Male Ghosts feasted on Lian'er and Li Chun's corpses, their sensing range was enhanced, which later triggered the third door‑smashing.

Later, she and the Dry Corpse Bride killed all Male Ghosts, breaking the Village's Balance and causing the women of the Village to revert to Fierce Ghost state.

Thus, this also explains why Male Ghosts ignore Zhang Hao and why Female Ghosts do not attack the Dry Corpse Bride.
