Chapter 28: The Overlapping Hotel

~7 min read 1,211 words

Carrying the ghost bride out of the room, however, what surprised Zhang Hao was that the hallway outside had undergone a new change at some unknown time.

Originally the outside was a passage leading to the fourth floor of Caesar Grand Hotel, but unknowingly it seemed to have been disconnected from the Caesar Grand Hotel outside.

Zhang Hao remembered that Caesar Grand Hotel is a special Spiritual Realm.

Although it appears to be only one Caesar Grand Hotel, in fact there are countless spaces here.

"Could it be that I stayed too long in the previous room, and the space of Caesar Grand Hotel has undergone a new round of overlap?"

Zhang Hao thought that this is probably the most likely possibility.

Now the connection to the real Caesar Grand Hotel has become another derivative Caesar Grand Hotel, while the space Zhang Hao is in has been overlaid onto another location.

The real Caesar Grand Hotel always has an invisible passage, but at different times that passage leads to different derivative Spiritual Realm hotels.

"That is indeed troublesome."

"Neither the bride nor I have a Ghost Domain; to leave Caesar Grand Hotel we must spend some time."

"I hope that during this time, the ghost painting hasn't actually appeared in Dajing City yet."

Zhang Hao looked around; he remembered from the original work that there were a few guys who had been trapped by Caesar Grand Hotel for decades.

If he were also trapped for decades, by the time he got out, Yang Jian would have become Yang Jian, and he and the bride would have only a dead end.

Zhang Hao tried to see if he could open these doors, but unfortunately he could not.

These locked doors seemed to have some incomprehensible Spiritual Realm presence, and could not be opened.

Zhang Hao could only walk on a bizarre corridor where a Hong Bai Shuang Sha carpet was laid along the Ground.

On both sides of the corridor were guest rooms, each bearing a room number, from No. 1, No. 2, and extending onward.

The corridor had no visible end; it was unknown how many rooms existed inside, nor where it extended to.

As they moved forward, Zhang Hao and the ghost bride reached the first intersection deep in the passage.

From the center of the intersection, the four directions differed only in room numbers and were otherwise indistinguishable.

After a moment of thought, Zhang Hao had no intention of changing direction.

Although Caesar Grand Hotel is bizarre, with the bride present, their safety can still be guaranteed.

As long as they don't unlucky encounter the terrifying Fierce Ghosts hidden deep within Caesar Grand Hotel, they will be fine.

Continuing deeper, after passing several intersections, Zhang Hao's steps suddenly halted.

He stopped in the middle of an intersection corridor, looked to the right at a dim passage, where the Hong Bai Shuang Sha carpet lay flat all the way, disappearing at the edge of his Gaze.

Deep in that passage, a faint yellowish door light was barely visible, seeming to point the way.

Moreover, Zhang Hao vaguely heard a sound emanating from deep within the right passage.

The sound must have been far away; if the surrounding environment hadn't been so silent, he wouldn't have been able to discern it.

It was a piece of music, as if someone were playing the Haunted Piano.

"Haunted Piano. Is that the group trapped in Caesar Grand Hotel?"

Zhang Hao's gaze was lingering, staring at that passage, and he did not act hastily.

If he is indeed in the area where those trapped people are, there is still a certain chance of getting out.

According to his memory, after Yang Jian fought with Headquarters' Fang Shiming, he would come here to snatch the Ghost Fire Knife.

During that time, Yang Jian unexpectedly heard this piano performance, which belonged to one of the three pieces of the Music Box.

"But at that time, Headquarters seemed already in chaos; would it be too late to go out?" Zhang Hao pondered.

If he kept waiting here, perhaps in the end he could wait for Yang Jian to come and leave with him.

But the only uncertainty is whether the area Yang Jian reaches is the same as the space Zhang Hao occupies; after all, Caesar Grand Hotel can be overlaid, and this Haunted Piano seems capable of emitting eerie music simultaneously in different spaces.

After a moment of thought, Zhang Hao still decided to step forward and take a look.

In this aimless situation, following the person playing music inside is not a bad way to break the deadlock.

He moved forward, and soon Zhang Hao stopped in front of a dim door light.

It was a room with a tightly locked door, identical to the other rooms, with no differences.

The only difference was that clear piano sounds emanated from inside the room, as if someone were playing inside.

Zhang Hao reached out, trying to push the door open.

This time the door was not shut as tightly as before, and it opened easily.

With a creak, the room's light streamed out through the doorway.

The interior décor was very old, a clear Republic Era style, yet it was very clean.

Zhang Hao's attention was not on those; his gaze fell on a Haunted Piano placed in the living room.

Clearly no one was there, yet the piano kept emitting playing sounds, as if an incomprehensible, unseen person were sitting there playing.

"Wuh wuh wuh!"

An eerie Crying sounded, overlapping with reverberation, imprinting a three‑dimensional image of the room in Zhang Hao's mind.

Strangely, even the Crying could not sense the silhouette of the piano player.

"It seems I and those few people are not in the same space."

"It's just that when I approached here, someone happened to be playing music in a piano room of another space, so I happened to hear it?"

Zhang Hao looked at the empty room, feeling a bit disappointed.

It seemed that even the backup plan of waiting for Yang Jian and then leaving with him was no longer viable.

"Hm?"

At that moment, Zhang Hao seemed to notice something.

As the Crying echoed, he once again discovered a door that could be opened.

Under normal circumstances, Crying echoing in a corridor cannot invade a room.

But this time, not far away, another room's interior diagram appeared in Zhang Hao's mind.

Holding the Ghost Bride, Zhang Hao quickly arrived at the room he could walk into.

At the room's door, Zhang Hao glanced at the door number—74.

Zhang Hao pushed the door open; what he saw was not much different from the previous room, except that the spot where a Haunted Piano had been placed was now a pitch‑black Blackboard.

The Blackboard was a swath of darkness, with no writing at all, seeming ordinary.

Yet a strange, chilling aura emanated from the Blackboard, proving it was not an ordinary Blackboard; it was likely a Supernatural Artifact.

Zhang Hao, holding the Ghost Bride, walked to the other side of the Blackboard.

Zhang Hao's thought was simple: since it's a Blackboard, it can't truly be blank, can it? Perhaps behind the Blackboard some useful information is written.
