Chapter 129: The Prophet's Ritual
But immediately Leikdun thought of the demonic elixir issue: if a species has undergone replacement, how should the demonic elixir be formulated.
"Isn't the demonic elixir formula unchanging?"
Leikdun subconsciously voiced the question.
"The demonic elixir requires the corresponding traits, or rather the original lingering divinity, not the materials themselves."
Hongguang Aier Moria offered an explanation, then added another sentence:
"Just like the blood clan, their lineage depends on extraordinary traits; as long as the corresponding Sequence Seven vampire trait remains, the blood clan will have newborns."
Leikdun nodded in understanding; extraordinary traits are conserved, so even if a species perishes, the trait can persist in other organisms, or simply, as long as the corresponding trait exists, the species cannot be extinct.
Feeling a bit awkward, he rubbed his nose and realized he had been overthinking.
He quickly changed the subject:
"Mr. Huang, I still need to trouble you to extract the trait from this demon badge."
Leikdun withdrew the hand that held the conspirator trait. Mr. Huang gave a startled glance, did not inquire further, and simply reminded him:
"Craft items with fewer restrictions; that strange unicorn imposes a heavy limit on its user."
"I'll try my best!"
Leikdun awkwardly nodded repeatedly.
Both consecutive figurines had significant issues; if he didn't actually feel his internal secret art mentor's demonic elixir digesting, Leikdun would even think his creations were failures.
"Mr. Huang, what is the ascension ceremony of the Sequence Four Prophet? I feel the demonic elixir of my secret art mentor will digest soon."
Leikdun gauged his digestion progress and planned to prepare for the ascension ceremony in advance.
"Witness a major event, gain insight, and ingest the demonic elixir amid the ripple of fate."
Mr. Huang gave a somewhat vague answer.
Leikdun asked, a bit puzzled:
"What is the ripple of fate?"
"You'll know when the time comes; you needn't worry, your fate can bear the prophet's demonic elixir."
"I can give you a portion of the main demonic elixir ingredient, but you must complete a task."
"What task?"
Leikdun asked curiously; if it involved the Primordial Moon again, he thought he might need to ask Parles to steal the reader-path trait from within himself.
"Make contact with Sasilier and discern its thoughts."
Mr. Huang unsurprisingly mentioned a heavyweight name.
Leikdun felt he now wore a head full of black lines, wanted to reply "Next time for sure!", but opposite him was his second handy thigh, so he couldn't argue.
He reluctantly began:
"Hasn't it already fallen? Moreover, with me alone, I can't see it in the short term, can I?"
"No, you'll see it soon; I caught a glimpse of fate."
Mr. Huang said with certainty.
Even Hongguang Aier Moria, sitting nearby, wore a puzzled expression, but Mr. Huang had no intention of explaining.
"Come back in two days to collect the trait."
After saying that, Mr. Huang waved his hand and expelled Leikdun from the library.
His consciousness returned to his body; Leikdun stood up, stretched, and mulled over Mr. Huang's words.
If he remembered correctly, Sasilier had already returned to Bai Zao, leaving only an evil spirit sleeping in the Giant King's Court. But Mr. Huang said he had glimpsed a thread of fate, and Leikdun would encounter Sasilier soon.
"I wonder how long 'soon' is for Mr. Huang? As an angel who dwells long in the spirit realm, its sense of time may differ from mine."
Leikdun muttered to himself for a while.
Then he suppressed all thoughts; instead of pondering Sasilier's situation, he decided to boost his own strength.
He asked Tu Ba Ge for the top hat it wore, and continued immersing himself in the explanation and development of the door‑opening technique.
While immersed in secret art development, Leikdun always felt time flew; he hadn't achieved much, and a day or two slipped by.
After two days of analysis and development, Leikdun successfully transformed his apprentice's door‑opening ability into a wall‑walking secret art.
"With this secret art, I can even make my attacks pierce through!"
Leikdun sighed.
Carrying the Great Magician's top hat, he went to the downstairs living room, placed the tall hat back on Tu Ba Ge's head, then left to a nearby restaurant, packed two meals, and returned home.
In the restaurant, while devouring his food, Leikdun suddenly froze; his eyes lost focus, a blankness spread, and a scene flashed in his mind:
Craine stood at the doorway of a dim hall, inside which a dense swarm of snakes coiled together, their multicolored bodies writhing in clusters.
Before Leikdun could retch, the scene shifted to a playing card bearing 'Red Priest' in the upper left; the front depicted Russell Gustav in armor, wielding a spear, with an army marching behind him.
The next moment, a hand glowing with red spiritual light reached out from the side and seized the profane card.
The mental image ended there.
"Huh!" Leikdun exhaled, feeling his heart race a bit.
"Prophecy? Is it because I just thought of what Craine is doing, triggering the sage trait inside me, thus causing the prophecy?"
"I feel that the evil spirit of the Red Angel finally seemed to notice; is this the former Angel King's incarnation?"
Leikdun muttered softly for a while, set down his utensils, and hesitated whether to go to that underground ruin.
He worried that Medici, now a hot‑pot evil spirit, might go berserk under the patronage of the God of Knowledge within him; even as a mere evil spirit, it still wielded demi‑god power, beyond what a single Sequence Five could counter.
After much inner conflict, Leikdun decided to go once; as long as he didn't enter the underground ruin, Medici shouldn't detect him.
"You stay at home; I'll step out."
Having said that, Leikdun turned and stepped into the spirit realm.
He reappeared on Williams Street, at the junction of Beikeland West District and Queen District.
He suppressed the urge to use the Secret-Probing Eye to spy on the situation inside the underground ruins; Lei Ke Dun stepped forward and walked along the street, his figure strangely enveloped by the surrounding shadows, and disappeared from sight.
He passed the workers still working inside the house and the servants responsible for supervision, passed through the messy living room, and arrived at the basement.
Lei Ke Dun stood before a pushed-open gray-white stone door, after a brief hesitation he drew a paper figurine from his pocket and flicked it out; the paper figurine quickly twisted and expanded in the air, turning into a somewhat illusory likeness of Lei Ke Dun.
The illusory apparition created by the paper figurine had bright yellow eyes, this being a night-vision spell Lei Ke Dun had imbued it with, and thereafter it entered the stone door under Lei Ke Dun's command.
This is a byproduct from when the paper figurine avatar was previously developed, merely a superficial illusion, and it will turn into shredded paper scraps at the slightest attack.
But now, using it to go to this underground ruin in place of myself is just right.
A faint light appeared in Lei Ke Dun's eyes, and a layer of frost quickly spread across the ground beside his feet, quickly melting into a puddle of water.
Lei Ke Dun scattered some light-colored powder onto the water surface, and as the water rippled, the scene seen by the paper figurine that had entered the ruins appeared clearly on the water.
After the paper figurine approached the hall, Lei Ke Dun, through the image on the ground, also saw the hall's true appearance: many chandeliers hung from the ceiling, suspended asymmetrically from the dome.
Before the paper figurine could continue forward, Ke Lai En and Miss Sha Lun, who had only just entered the ruins, came out from a stone door ahead.
A Er?
Ke Lai En saw the paper figurine standing in the hall and exclaimed in confusion.
It's a paper figurine.
Sha Lun added a sentence.
After the paper figurine walked a few steps forward, it made a nodding gesture toward Sha Lun, indicating affirmation.
"How did you come here?"
After saying that, Ke Lai En awkwardly made eye contact with the paper figurine for a moment.
Under Lei Ke Dun's control, the paper figurine raised its hand and traced the word 'prophecy' in the air; whether Ke Lai En and Sha Lun could understand it is unknown.
"Prophecy."
Sha Lun immediately spoke the word the paper figurine had traced in the air.
Afterward, the paper figurine traced a few more gestures in the air.
Ke Lai En looked at Sha Lun, full of question marks, and Sha Lun paused briefly and said:
He said 'awesome'.
Ke Lai En fell silent for a moment. He felt that Al had an extraordinary talent for ruining the atmosphere, and just by making two gestures, his own nervousness was completely dispelled.
