Chapter 137: Aixingge Sitan the Great Detective
"Thank you for your help! The information you gave is far better than me relying on divination to randomly search the map for a lucky person."
"I originally thought the clue from the earlier divination pointed to Golden Rose, but now it seems it should have pointed to you, the great detective."
Lei Keton was very satisfied with the data he got from Aixingge·Sitan.
"Divination? Are you a prophet?"
Aixingge·Sitan looked at Lei Keton with eyes full of surprise.
The Reader Path is not good at divination, but he knows this path has a sequence called Prophet; from the name it can be seen that readers at this stage become proficient in divination and prophecy.
"No, I'm still a Secret Arts Instructor, I just have some related occult knowledge, so I'm relatively good at divination."
Lei Keton gave a casual excuse, not expecting that merely mentioning divination would make the other party think so much.
It can only be said, worthy of a famous great detective, in the use of the Keeper stage abilities, the other party is far stronger than he is.
Aixingge·Sitan knew the title Secret Arts Instructor; it is Sequence Five of the Reader Path, and his gaze toward Lei Keton carried a hint of expectation:
"I wonder if you know the Scholar's magical potion formula?"
"Scholar? I know of it, but I have no right to sell the corresponding potion formula; you can wait a while, I'll inquire and give you an answer later."
Lei Keton did not give a direct answer; when Mr. Huang originally told him the Scholar's potion formula, he never expected such a situation.
However, Lei Keton thought the problem should be minor; Aixingge·Sitan is a member of the Knowledge Church, and with his credentials and achievements in Beckland, obtaining a Scholar's potion formula should not be an issue.
"Sure!"
Aixingge·Sitan was not surprised by Lei Keton's reply, and later gave him his address, so he can be contacted once there is news.
After settling with Aixingge·Sitan, Lei Keton stepped directly into the spirit realm, leaving this block.
Aixingge·Sitan's assistant and the carriage driver slowly came to, thinking they had just dozed off from a wave of drowsiness, quickly waking up, completely unaware that some time had passed.
After receiving Lei Keton's promise to inquire about the Scholar's formula, Aixingge·Sitan the great detective felt much better; the thoughts that had been irritated by the serial murder case cleared up considerably.
Seeing two reporters and detectives who, like himself, entered Golden Rose to investigate the case emerge, Aixingge·Sitan immediately ordered the carriage driver to drive, and approached the detective before he boarded the hired carriage.
Leaving Joewood District, Lei Keton traversed the spirit realm and arrived at the relatively chaotic Dock District.
In the gang information Aixingge·Sitan provided, there is a Raven Gang apparently backed by a pirate force.
Besides extorting protection fees and running its own black enterprises in the nearby area, the Raven Gang also smuggles goods; it is one of the larger gangs in Beckland.
Although he doesn't know which pirate general or king's subordinate force this is, Lei Keton can confirm the Raven Gang has nothing to do with the Future ship; it's a target he can go after.
In the afternoon Dock District, many workers were loading and unloading cargo; Lei Keton casually found a nearby bar, ordered roast meat and dark beer, and quietly listened to the patrons' chatter.
"You came a bit early; it's not yet time for everyone to relax."
There weren't many people in the bar, and he couldn't hear any useful information.
After finishing the roast meat and dark beer, Lei Keton left the bar, roamed the Dock District, and memorized its layout.
When the sun set and the dim yellow gas streetlights were lit, workers gradually finished their day's work and hurriedly left the Dock District.
Many people also poured into nearby taverns, casinos, and brothels; compared with the busy daytime, it was now even livelier.
Lei Keton casually tossed a branch he broke off the roadside, and guided by divination, arrived at a very bustling dance hall.
"The gang's business is really extensive!"
Lei Keton sighed as he looked at the noisy dance hall.
He then stepped into a shadow where the streetlamp's light couldn't reach, and under its cover entered the spirit realm.
The next moment, his figure reappeared, already in a room on the third floor of the dance hall.
"Mmm~" "Ah~"
A staggered female moan reached his ears, Lei Keton was startled.
On the large bed ahead, a naked man and woman were passionately engaged in procreation, completely unaware of the extra person in the room.
Lei Keton glanced at the slightly plump middle-aged man and the golden‑haired, slender woman he was pressing beneath him.
Both were ordinary people; out of principle Lei Keton refrained from interrupting their act, slowed his pace, and lightly walked toward the doorway.
The door was wide open; Lei Keton raised an eyebrow—this middle‑aged man's hobby seemed unusual, even leaving the door ajar for onlookers. It didn't resemble Luen's style at all; Lei Keton thought the two inside were likely from Indist.
Lei Keton stopped his chain of associations and walked straight out; the middle‑aged man in the room let out a low, satisfied sound, after which the room fell silent.
To give the downstairs dance hall manager enough reaction time, Lei Keton deliberately chose a spot toward the back.
He took out the flame demon figurine he carried, infused it with nearly a third of his own spirit. The figurine instantly erupted in flames that seemed alive, leapt from his palm, and landed on the ground a short distance away.
"What are you doing?"
A questioning voice came from the other side of the corridor.
A man in loose casual clothes looked at Lei Keton with a wary gaze and quickly approached.
Lei Keton looked up; the other's etheric body emitted a white aura that enveloped his whole form, obscuring the light of his mind‑body and star‑spirit.
"A non‑ordinary being, low sequence, proficient in melee, Sequence Nine; most likely a warrior or a sailor."
Lei Keton glanced at him, and relevant information already surfaced in his mind, completing a quick assessment.
"Paralyze!" he rose and uttered a word in Ancient Hermes.
A pale green light slipped from Lei Keton's hand, as if foreseen, striking the non‑ordinary being even as he dodged.
His body, paralyzed mid‑air, followed inertia and slammed into the staircase leading to the second floor.
The commotion quickly drew others' attention; Lei Keton wasted no time and swiftly mimicked the pyromancer's ability.
Pressing his hands to the ground, using the earth as a conduit and himself as the source, he created two fire serpents that leapt outward; the raging flames burned around, forming a wall of fire.
Lei Keton rose, lightly clapped his palms twice, stepped back a pace, entered the spirit realm, and his figure reappeared on the opposite roof.
Reappearing, Lei Keton reached into the void ahead, dragging; the surrounding shadows moved as if solid, covering him and completely obscuring his form.
On the third floor of the dance hall, flames spread rapidly. When the surrounding people noticed the anomaly and rushed over, they only saw a humanoid formed of fire emerging from the blazing flame wall.
As it swung its arms, the surrounding flames seemed to come alive, quickly spreading outward.
"There's a monster!"
Help!
Quick! Put out the fire!
"It's on fire!" "It's on fire!"
The crowd on the third floor fell into chaos the instant the flame demon appeared; some shouted for help, not caring about their disheveled clothing, and ran downstairs.
Another part began to run quickly to notify others.
Only two men in long windbreakers, with dark brown skin and fierce faces, remained; they exchanged a glance, then turned their gaze toward the flame demon ahead, their expressions grave.
"Whoosh!"
The man on the left suddenly threw a short dagger.
Before the dagger could get close, it was knocked away by a flame whip; then the blazing fire behind the flame demon, as if exploding, surged forward toward the two men's position.
The roar of the rapidly burning flame, which compressed the air, sounded like a demon's whisper, slowing their thoughts a bit.
By the time these two extraordinary individuals came to, they were already engulfed in flames. The scorching fire burned every inch of their skin; some of the fire solidified into chains that wrapped around them, leaving them unable to move.
"Ah!" "Save me!" "Ugh~"
The two extraordinary individuals wanted to call for help, but as soon as they opened their mouths, the flame poured in like seawater.
The two writhed and struggled under the flames' scorching, yet could not move a step; a figure seemingly made of flame stood to one side, wildly controlling the flames that swept across the floor.
When the person in charge of the dance hall and the boss of the Crow Gang, Tulna, arrived, this was the scene he saw.
"Damn it! What are you? How dare you cause trouble on the Crow Gang's turf!"
Tulna clenched his right hand into a fist, his eyes bloodshot from congestion.
This building is not only a dance hall but also the Crow Gang's headquarters. The flame monster's arson and rampage here not only slap the Crow Gang in the face, but will also inflict massive economic losses on them.
Having adjusted his breathing rhythm, Tulna vigilantly observed the flame monster across from him. He suspected it was an out-of-control arsonist.
Tulna drew two beast-tooth short daggers from behind him and swiftly closed in on the flame demon that was setting fires ahead.
A pale blue spiritual light flashed, and a layer of pale blue luminescence quickly coated the beast-tooth short daggers in Tulna's hand; a water column about two to three meters thick, as thick as a wrist, rapidly condensed into shape.
Tulna waved the beast-tooth short daggers, and the two water columns struck the flame demon's fiery form like whips.
A "hiss" sounded as the water vapor evaporated.
The flames on the flame demon that were extinguished by the water whip were quickly replenished from the surroundings, and it made a roaring motion as the surrounding flames burst outward explosively.
