Chapter 154: You May Call Me

~8 min read 1,493 words

"I cannot represent the Knowledge Church, but the Knowledge Church is keen on spreading knowledge, as everyone knows."

Leikèdùn maintained his expression and gave a somewhat vague answer.

Sigh. I knew it—this kind of Sequence‑3 saint wouldn't approach me without reason; perhaps later I'll have a chance to pull him into my camp!

"This crow is about to reach Sequence 7, right? Do you have the Sequence‑7 magic elixir formula?"

Pula Ke smiled and changed the subject.

Leikèdùn hadn't spoken yet when the crow beside him blurted out:

"None yet!"

Pula Ke nodded slightly, smiling as he said:

"Then I'll give you a medium's magic elixir formula, as a parting gift."

After speaking, Pula Ke summoned a servant, asked for a sheet of paper and a pen, and wrote down the medium's magic elixir formula.

He then handed the written formula over; Leikèdùn took it, glanced at it briefly, and slipped it into a pocket.

He then nodded toward the opposite‑seated Pula Ke in thanks:

"Thank you very much, Mr. Aiges; this formula comes at a perfect time."

"Thank you! Thank you!"

The crow Anu mimicked Leikèdùn's gesture, repeatedly nodding at Pula Ke in gratitude.

"Haha, no need to be so formal; I give you this formula on condition."

"I want to learn about this crow's future ascension and its changes; its phoenix lineage isn't strong, but I see a hint of atavism in it."

"Alright, no problem." Leikèdùn nodded without hesitation.

He glanced sideways at the bewildered crow beside him, but Leikèdùn didn't think it would be an issue; after all, mythic creatures on the Death‑God path have all become feathered serpents, so even atavism would hardly turn into a phoenix.

After a lavish Southern Continent specialty dinner, Leikèdùn rose with the crow Anu to take his leave; before departing, Pula Ke whispered his messenger‑summoning incantation to Leikèdùn.

He rode a hired carriage back to Mingsike Jie, alighted, walked to his rented dwelling, and, upon reaching house No. 15, Leikèdùn cast a thoughtful glance inside.

"Will the Blood Moon Night be the evening Miss Magician joins the Tarot Society? Coincidentally, today Kelaien advanced to a Sequence‑7 magic student; such a coincidence is truly interesting."

Gu Zi murmured a few words in front of Kelaien's door.

He then turned, entered the house opposite on the street, and after returning home quickly went up to the second floor to wash up; Leikèdùn collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep.

The deep‑red moonlight streamed through the glass window, illuminating the room; the transparent amber Leikèdùn had carelessly set on the windowsill coffee table pulsed with a faint, flickering glow, like a heartbeat.

In his deep sleep, Leikèdùn entered a dream again, as if he had arrived in the ancient Second or Third Era.

There he saw images of giants, great dragons, phoenixes, elves, and other beings. The scenes kept shifting until they settled on a towering peak, the sky frozen at dawn.

A vague male figure with pale skin, clad in a black clerical robe, appeared; jet‑black hair fell behind him, and eight pairs of pure white wings formed of light sprouted from his back, like an angel descending to earth, suffusing everything with a holy aura.

"Nice to meet you; I am the fourth surviving remnant after Amanisisi."

A gentle, mellow voice rang out, snapping the dazed Leikèdùn awake; he turned his head to look around, the scene like a frozen painting, and realized he was still within the dream.

Looking at the figure before him, Leikèdùn's mind raced; he couldn't tell whether the person was the Ancient Sun God, the True Creator, or some other new identity.

The vague male seemed to sense Leikèdùn's doubt and spoke again:

"You may call me Sasilier."

Leikèdùn couldn't hide his surprised expression and asked in confusion:

"Sasilier? Haven't you already fallen?"

The figure calling himself Sasilier replied calmly:

"I only go by that name, but I'm not the former Dark Angel."

"The former Dark Angel was a personality I deliberately split off to combat the original Corruption; I, on the other hand, am a fragment of the True Creator's own will, separated through the mysterious manifestation you employed, forming a distinct personality."

Leikèdùn fell silent briefly; the Ancient Sun God is truly adept at creating avatars with his own will.

Though the explanation was reasonable, Leikèdùn remained somewhat puzzled:

"That's only a Sequence‑4 level mysterious manifestation; can it be that potent?"

The figure calling himself Sasilier kept the same flat tone and said:

"You've underestimated this manifestation's effect and overestimated me; I'm merely a portion of the True Creator's divinity and will, used as a vessel for descent."

The scene was silent for a second or two, then the vague figure spoke again:

"I want to make a deal with you!"

"What deal?" Leikèdùn asked, still uncertain but roughly guessing what was being proposed.

"The Aurora Society is planning an event for my descent, scheduled for this December; I need you to help me successfully manifest an avatar, then kill it!"

"Hmm?" Leikèdùn was puzzled; the condition to help him manifest an avatar was expected, but killing its avatar seemed odd.

The vague figure continued, half answering, half narrating:

"I will endow the avatar with a Sequence‑2 level attribute and a fragment of a maddened self‑awareness."

"After slaying my manifested avatar, you must employ an angel‑level mysterious manifestation once more to stabilize that awakened consciousness and restore it to an angelic stature."

Having heard the whole plan, Leikèdùn thought briefly and asked:

"This mysterious manifestation lasts only 40 days, and are you sure it can refresh your state, restoring that part of your consciousness to clarity?"

The vague figure said confidently:

"I'm certain; the hallmark of this manifestation is that it can use a previously existing state as a template to refresh the target's condition, which is why 'I' was born."

"Although I—or rather the True Creator—have long been mired in madness, instinct still lets me handle certain matters; when the time comes, the True Creator will warp this 40‑day limit, extending it indefinitely."

Leikèdùn sighed, then shook his head:

"I cannot perform a Sequence‑2 level mysterious manifestation; it would severely affect me, even causing the sage attribute within me to fuse completely."

"I understand your concerns, so I will bear that impact for you."

"Even though I possess only a small fragment of conscious awareness and divinity, I still hold a true god's stature, sufficient to shoulder this impact."

Lei Kedun was slightly startled; if the other party could truly bear the effects brought by the Sage's traits for him, then the plan would indeed be feasible.

An avatar that actively seeks death, Huang Beibei should be solvable; she holds a seal corresponding to Death God's Path Sequence One.

Moreover, I can have the Hidden Sage provide her with some assistance.

The vague silhouette spoke again:

"As payment for the deal, I will offer direct assistance when you recover the Perfect One's authority."

"Your alliance with He La Bo Gen is destined to draw the hostility of Lie Ao De Luo and Ao Sai Ku Si; you will need more allies."

Lei Kedun frowned slightly; the other's tone was odd, treating him as an equal, which was not merely due to the old survivor's status.

After a brief thought, Lei Kedun said in a probing tone:

"I cannot make the decision in place of the Hidden Sage."

"Hidden Sage? No, you represent the Wilderness of Knowledge; the Hidden Sage must obey your command."

The vague silhouette's tone remained steady and certain:

"I once possessed the Chaotic Sea and the authority of omniscience and omnipotence; even now, I can see that your connection to the Wilderness of Knowledge is extremely close. If the Wilderness of Knowledge has not been awakened, you are the most likely to become the Knowledge Fiend."

"If you wish to become the Knowledge Fiend, with the hermit already controlled by the Wilderness of Knowledge, the Perfect One's authority is crucial to you!"

Even though it was a dream, Lei Kedun felt his breathing quicken.

The other's proposal left Lei Kedun with no reason to refuse, yet the other's identity made him somewhat worried about the reaction of the Knowledge God.

After all, Erwu Long is his angel investor and the primary partner of the Wilderness of Knowledge.

The scene fell silent again; no one spoke, and the dream seemed to freeze.

After about one or two minutes, Lei Kedun looked at the vague silhouette who called herself Sasilier and said:

"I agree to the deal; in exchange, you must help me recover the authority during my battle with the Steam."

"As for allies, that can wait until you have restored your angelic status."

"Deal confirmed!" The vague silhouette's voice was flat yet carried an irresistible, dignified tone.

An invisible link formed between Lei Kedun and the vague silhouette, giving Lei Kedun the feeling of a notarized contract being finalized.
